Dr Mike releasing a legs video before I hit legs, now this before back day, sweet. I've had 2 spinal surgeries and been doing low rows with that huge stretch since I came out of my most recent, does wonders for supporting that area, should have done them sooner.
I love the seated massive stretch row, nobody at my gym does them and always tells me I am wrong... Then again I learned these from an old school guy we all know Gregg Valentino, he always preaches getting that big stretch with your rows just like you are showing. Most fellas like the one in the beginning of this video use mostly arms to "row" with getting zero lat engagement. I've taught a few guys how to do these and that's how they all do them now at my gym, the stretch is so important and these younger fellas don't realize it.
I have been dealing with the same people telling me i don't have a good posture or I'm leaning foward too munch with cable rows!! But most of the guys hit it like the person in the beginning of the video... I just laughed at them at this point and ignored them. Couples friends of mine started training with me hitting Back and both of them felt great activation on their back and their back were sore the next day something they haven't felt in weeks... If i see a Dr or IFBB pro teaching a exercise i definitely will listen to them period.
I always see ppl doing the hammer strength row machine and they’re only getting half reps bc the machine is so bad for rows. If you step back a little bit and even lean over you can make it more of a pull-down or a high row and get most of the tension at the stretch
I used to do rows like this for my traps. I got a good stretch and contraction but it would always hurt my spine. After a while I realized I needed a way to stabilize my body like what you’re doing
Yo son! I'm glad you admitted your Versa Grips are 'cool', finally someone who admits this fact when attempting to MOG in the gym. How much cooler would you say you've become since rocking the Versa Grips? Do women twerk to them?
@@JonniShreve I hope the commentors didn't spook her! Always nice to see a female perspective to exercises, even if it's just to be observant for cues
With the last exercise, could you do this on a cable machine and sit on the floor? Have your feet on the base of the cable machine and lean back at the bottom? Or does that extra bend back from perpendicular to the pulley really do a lot to give it up?
Now I was doing the chest supported one arm dumbbell row a few years back and I dropped it out of my routine now when I saw Jonni implemented in his routine I decided to give it another try. 👊🏾
When doing chest supported DB rows I get this sharp pain in my inner elbow. It also happens when doing some pressing movements. Has anyone experienced this and how would one work to fix it?
I have had the same issue doing one arm rows which was why I stopped for awhile. I found when I was rowing I would sometimes lift some by bending my elbows instead of pulling with my lats when I got tired. I am going to try again and really concentrate on just using my back in the movement or going lighter.
@@BloodyDiabolicalThat's a very good point. I try to remain concious of pulling with the lats but must admit that sometimes I may not necessarily do that throughout the whole exercise. That's for replying!
The Guru of lifting right! Thanks Jonni!

Have you considered making a workout app?
Nice tank top!! I need that in my closet. Lol
What if you do not have a pulldown machine or a cable row machine? Is there anything to replace those exercises?
