Exactly my thoughts. I got the game recently and while I love the artstyle (bought it for said reason), it's hard to convince myself to play another run, which is a problem for a roguelike game. I hope they can fix its problems and give it the "oomph" it needs to be a fun, replayable game.
Nice review/channel, very informative and well thought out. I subbed.
Definitely not the game for me but it was good hearing your thoughts. I do really love this art style
Thanks for the thoughtful and helpful review!
great review, thanks! It has a pretty steep price tag for a rogue like too so I guess that i'll wait for a sale.
It’s on game pass
Unrelated, but you mentioning Paper Mario action commands made me think of Bug Fables. Did you ever give that game a shot?
No I didn’t but I’ve heard good things. I’m definitely interested and might cover in the future
it looks like a more complex version darkest dungeon like combat system, but has multiple battle lines and being able to deploy new units during combat.
Hopefully Yaza Games has an eye on these reviews so there’s a chance that game updates add new things like weaker unit upgrades and new weird map levels to give the game that X-factor you spoke of. I love the art style and I only play slower thoughtful games as FPS games give me migraines, so I want this game, but with improvements.
I've been looking for a new roguelike to play, but I've been looking for one that's not insanely complicated. I usually prefure more roguelikes on the more simplistic side. I really like hand of fate. From the review it sounds like this would be a nice simplistic game? And thats why you don't like it? But it might be a good fit for me if that's the case.
