Here's the "simple" method I've used for 30+ years. Thread a link swivel onto the main line, draw the line through until there's a double length about 24" long. Tie a figure of eight knot to give a big loop. Pull a couple of inches of one side of the loop about 6" above where the swivel is and tie a small figure of eight knot. Attach your hook length to the little loop by whatever your preferred method is and there you have it. Adjust the dimensions to your preferred lengths and after a while you'll be doing it on the bank in about a minute.
Hi joe When you join the smaller hook length to your shock leader loop does it matter that you don’t get the figure of 8 shape when you pull the loops together you get more of a lasso due to the thicker line, just asking as I’m sure you have spoken about it before with Rob and it was a no no, or it may of been Des .
Great video joe what line stops are you using and what knot do you use to attach your leader to main line keep up the good work stay safe kind regards Steve
Joe. Re- feeder links. I really think it interesting when one top match angler loves them, and another can do without them? A thought Joe, I notice you said on a roach fishing video (close in on the feeder) that you had a mark on the line that tells you just how close the fish is for swinging to hand. Could that be the leader end, on an 11 foot rod? I'm guessing one meter plus hook link say two foot? Great videos keep them coming Joe.
Hi Joe. Is 4lb line strong enough for the big carp in hallcroft. I love feeder fishing but always use 8lb main line and 6lb hooklink when big carp are about. And does the line to the feeder (method or cage) matter in your opinion. Great channel and the chats with rob thanks.
Joe .. I'm fishing at 60m using a heli rig for roach and I reckon I'm missing 4 out of every five bites .. would you use this rig in the hope it gets me connected to more bites ?
Just a question, using a 1mtr shock leader and say a 90cm hooklength doesn’t that mean your having to wind the knot that joins the shocker to the main line through the eyes of your tip before you cast on your short rods?
@@MatchFishingFilms hey joe,if you are gonna try flurocarbon as a shock leader try using korda kontour 12lb i being using it for the past 2 yrs myself....all the best scott
Hi Joe. I have found 4 types of swivels I have knocking about. 3 with a built in rubber bead and different type swivels and one with just a swivel. 2 look to have a more heavy duty clip. Would you think any of them would be OK setup with 0.28mm Reflow sinking feeder mono? I was going to send an image of the swivels but can't see that can be done on here
Here’s one for the next one boys. My top kits are about 8ft. When fishing deeper than that how do you manage to use your pulla kit or side pulla? I normally use a short no 4 and reach forward to pull the elastic from my side pulla, but find it cumbersome. Great advise from you both.
As requested, a comment below. I rate Lee kerry highly, but if say, Matt Godfrey had shown you the same tip, would it have had the same effect on your mind set? I ask this because, in my lane, I find myself very faithful to my employer, and have been given tips of my trade from someone from another company, and even though he's a good mate, I thanked for the tip, but didn't use it. Only because I somehow felt disloyal to my boss.
@@MatchFishingFilms Matt's was a name I pulled of thin air, I was more asking about the depth of loyalty to Preston being as Lee works with the same company, whereas Matt is a Guru man. (Guru! that's like swearing here eh? lol)
Nah for my personal fishing it's different. I just pick and choose what details to take on board and it just so happens I spend a lot of time with Lee and we work together on a lot of things.
Don't know how I missed this Joe , but glad I found it what a great idea thanks mate
Glad you enjoyed it
InstaBlaster.
Thanks, what a brilliant but simple idea. I've just redone my feeder rod, 👍👍
Glad it helped

Yea it's a interesting subject. I think most of the england team use them though and know how important they are.
It can easily be the shocker knot 👍
Hi Joe, great rig. What brand are these rubber stops?

I tend to stick with 5lb line tbh, but by all means use 8lb I know a lot of anglers do
I think I've been overdoing it now lol . Going to give your rig a go when we get chance. Might catch a few more in my pleasure fishing thanks joe.
Keep them coming joe 👍🏻 up the tip !

yes and, use braid and shorten up your hookline is what I would do, I wouldnt recommend a heli rig. Why are you fishing so far away for roach tho?
Thanks for this video. Safe and simple rig. One of which I use. What stops are they? Be safe during this time!
Sorry I must have missed this. I was testing what are the now (in shops) STOPZ. Perfect for this
@@MatchFishingFilms better late than never. Lol. Many thanks. Keep safe!
Excuse me, I'm kinda new to this, so you are putting the feeder on the swivel and where is the hook going to be?
Loop to loop your hook length into the loop in the 4inch twizzelled boom bit, piece of P. 👍👍
Hi ...some people seem to do a second twizzel after the head or shot is pushed up...why dont u do this?
Do you cast off the shock leader
Nice one mate what rubber stops are they? Never seen the flat ones before
;)
is it a secret?

Some times yes but it doesn't bother me
Just thinking 15lb shocker, it’s a mighty big knot?
the rubber stop what brand is that?
Very smart and simple but how do you store them ready to go?
I use a large Tronix foam spool
Match Fishing Films be good if you show this in a video, I guess you have many on one spool?
How do you connect shock leader to mainline joe?
I use a loop in the braid and then attach using a blood knot
Hi Joe
Why don't you use flurocarbom ?
It's stiff & heavy
I am going to experiment with it Mike

Morning Joe. You used to leave a long tag end when you trimmed off the twizzled boom Joe? Do you not do that anymore?
I would be happy to do it, no problem. Just neatened everything and refined everything
Thanks joe really appreciate this thanks for postinf love the float stops ALIEN

I use a loop and a blood knot, I will show that on a video soon

How do you tie 15lb line to 4lb line 🤔🤔
A loop in the thin material and a blood knot in the thicker line
@@MatchFishingFilms will have to look this up,I am not a expert in owt 👍😄🤝
Who makes these stops and what is their code?
They are some we are working on for next year.
