I don't know how the team does it, but every time I see a Robonauts reveal video I stand up and applaud at the end. Every time. It makes you want to dance, build, and geek out all at the same time! Fantastic video and robot this year 118!
@@zacharyfisher3019 or... robonauts is like a pro football team, picking players that are specialized from plethora of Schools, of course they're going to be good.
Jesus these kids have recourses; multiple robots each year, a fully functional field, a huge workspace. Don't get me wrong, the robot is freaking amazing and seems like it can perform perfectly in FRC. I guess I'm just jealous, but best of luck in the competitions to come.
Justin, you outdid yourself on this one. Not only is this an impressive new bot, I think the video choreography and editing makes this my favorite reveal of all time (bumping 118 2013 to #2). What an incredible way to show off an awesome machine.
Those poly-carb gears though 👌 over on 1519 we’ve been worried that we might be one of the few teams to have a separate intake/release mech, very comforting to see one working well.
OMG, I love this team so much, so glad I got to be part of it last year. My favourite part of this video has to be that sassy throw that illusion does at 0:28 to 0:31
I am not trying to spark a controversy or anything about your robot. However wouldn't 0:29 be considered "launching a cube"? and if that's the case wouldn't you have to be in contact with the fence that surrounds the switch?
Any chance to get some cad photos or files? If not I'd like to know how you prevented your arm from moving while you weren't giving power to the motors? My team used a helical transmission but I'm inters in finding other ways to do so
I've seen more online documentation for Java, but both should serve you well. DISCLAIMER: I have a slight Java bias, and may be wrong about the documentation thing.
During quals, you would end up on their alliance about as often as you would be against them, so I'd actually want to be in the same regional as them. Of course, during alliance selection, you just have to pray.
ashlyn lampton if you watch the last few seconds of the video you can see the three competitions they're going to, and most likely also going to Champs.
When this Robot's design is my FTC design precisely, and my mentors laughed when I said we should just build a bigger version of that bot for FRC this year
How do you guys consistently make robots this good? What's your normal build season schedule(by week)(like, what do you get done by each week) My team isn't that organized.
chris shakkour We post our robot CADs to our website: ccisdrobonauts.org . You can also ask questions here but we try not to be too vocal on public platforms
We spent almost all of the build season just making, testing, and breaking those forks. There's 8+ different broken forks sitting in a cabinet before we got it working how we liked
Gan Gan Gan Gan Gan Gan Gan Gan Gan Gan Gan Gan it’s great. I would’ve made them out of stainless steel but your robot looks heavy so it might’ve been a problem. Congrats on the banner!
In the Q&A (frc-qa.firstinspires.org/onepage.html, see Q4 and Q39) they said that if the robot were to be put on level ground and still comply with the bumper rules it's okay. If the robot is put on level ground the tines/partner climb ramp does/do move back up.
I'm currently rewriting all of the code from scratch to make it more user-friendly, but I wouldn't mind fixing up some of the old robots like Apex's lights and sharing the new code. I didn't get the new version finished in time for my current team 2848, it's still in a UML planning phase, but a working version should be finished before summer starts.
EricMoranFilms I agree 118 is definitely one of the most dominant teams in frc history. Another championship win might make them third or second on my list of best in frc
It's a very well made robot. But, my problem is how are teams from rural area with less members, sponsors, and mentors going to compete against them. They literally are a joint-district team that uses NASA facilities, NASA sponsorships, and NASA mentors. I think it is extremely unfair for teams from other geographical backgrounds to compete against teams in California (a lot of tech companies, mentors, and sponsorship), and teams in Texas. (NASA - Robowranglers, and Robonauts).
On one hand, this is an extremely well made reveal with a really promising robot to match. On the other hand is lotion.
No tissues? Are we in the 1800s?
Sid Prabhakaran it’s truly amazing what a team of professional engineers can build in a students game......
Salt
@@perrybotics damn you're here too?
This may be the most "118" robot 118 has ever built. Overcomplicated but beautifully executed.
Noah Brooks yet can’t make it to Einstein lmao!!
@@Brandon-qd2lb that's so mean
These videos are much more enjoyable now that I'm in college and don't have to worry about getting absolutely decimated by this bot
Lol!!
Cameron Humphreys agreed
I still gotta worry lmao
Cameron Humphreys Sadly, I’m a senior and our bot this year is probably gonna be trash. It’s been enjoyable though.
The fact that you say probably is concerning, are you planning on building it at competition?
My tax dollars at work, destroying my own kids in competition.
I don't know how the team does it, but every time I see a Robonauts reveal video I stand up and applaud at the end. Every time. It makes you want to dance, build, and geek out all at the same time! Fantastic video and robot this year 118!
Dude Same!
Here’s the secret (NASA Engineers)

The season's over why am I still watching this
Because it's ****ing awesome.

I have literally been sitting here all day refreshing to see this!
Love from Robototes, 2412!
I want to cry and cheer at the same time
relatable
This is what happens when you know the cheat codes to FIRST Power Up, you unlock the secret Illusion robot
nope Lockdown is op not this bot.
They didn't find that code to Einstein though??
I HAVE BEEN WAITING SINCE 8:30 PACIFIC TIME ON BAG DAY FOR THIS
dude same XD
So stoked to be playing with you guys on Newton at Houston this year. Team 3140
NASA does it again
Glad to see another amazing bot from you guys! (1721, NH)
Those poly-carb gears though 👌 over on 1519 we’ve been worried that we might be one of the few teams to have a separate intake/release mech, very comforting to see one working well.
Layth Juma Could you please elaborate on how those are used in the bot please? Love from 6200
OMG, I love this team so much, so glad I got to be part of it last year. My favourite part of this video has to be that sassy throw that illusion does at 0:28 to 0:31
Yes, officer, this is the one who is about to steal all of the first place spots... Nice job 118, beautiful robot!
Is that blue in the video? ......sign of a water game. Coming soon-2019 FRC watergames
That’s incredible! I already have butterflies about competition.
How do you guys get such consistent, and smooth lifts?
Looking forward to see next season's robot
I love the flash back 😂
obsessed with the glow up from a climber that broke last season to a climber that can hold TWO robots
Amazing job, 118! Good luck in your competitions this year from Team 5813!
~Daler
That’s a cool bot
And the choice of music
☝️🤠👍

*flashbacks*
Ironically they are 118 and that was at 1:18.

There was an update on the rules
Oh, OK just wanting to make sure because it would suck to spend 6 weeks designing something and then have it go to waste.
That's some sweet engineering.
That last shot, hahahahahah! You guys are the best.
Any chance to get some cad photos or files? If not I'd like to know how you prevented your arm from moving while you weren't giving power to the motors? My team used a helical transmission but I'm inters in finding other ways to do so
We post our CAD to our website: ccisdrobonauts.org . The arm has a passive spring system that changes tension based on the angle
where's the mobile goal lift?
What's the best language to use for FRC Programming? C++?
254 uses Java. 118 uses C++. If you know the algorithms well, there should be little difference.
I've seen more online documentation for Java, but both should serve you well.
DISCLAIMER: I have a slight Java bias, and may be wrong about the documentation thing.
Dang some of these comments are salty.
I guess it can't be a good song every year
;)
CAN I GET A WITNESS?
IN THE DARKNESS
CUZ THERE AINT NO LOVE AT ALL THE BE FOUD
FEELING LIKE A FREIGHT TRAIN, TRYING TO BREAK CHAINS
EVERYBODY NEEDS SOMEBODY NO DOUBT
This is insane well done
psyched to watch you guys beat us at colorado!
This is a a stellar robot, love from Team Resistance #86 #ohmer
THAT is a sick robot and I'm glad we dont have to compete with you (in the regional anyway)
During quals, you would end up on their alliance about as often as you would be against them, so I'd actually want to be in the same regional as them. Of course, during alliance selection, you just have to pray.
Looking good! Loved the music
Woahhh good job guys! You never fail to blow me away
It just ain’t fair......

Great concept design and execution! Are you guys going to the comp in Tennessee this year?

Good luck this season from team 1817, sorry about Hub City last year

Great job you guys it looks great hope you will do just as well

Terrifying yet again, great job guys
624 cameo!
What's the autonomous like?
The only part of having two Worlds competitions is those at Detroit never get to see teams like 118.
we have other teams though.
It looks incredible
This may be the best reveal video ever.
Good luck from 3735!
Last year's reveal video was much better
to anyone from team 6969 who sees this: at least we tried
Never fail to impress. Amazing work and good luck from BERT 4750
Is anyone else scared for worlds this year?
i wonder how they counter balanced that arm
AMAZING ! Great job. Catchy tune ♥
Ruckus got hit right in the Simon & Garfunkel.
did they make this song?
amazing what can be done w ith simple legos !
You guys have to tell me what song this is, I love it goes so well with the robot
Just Shazam'd it Mr Roboto by Rapture Ruckus
Actually it's the Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel
Ben Hamilton Really Funny Ben!
Y’all stand no chance against 360, but if you are on 360s team then you guys will win
Can y’all hurry up with you’re reveal😂
does this team have a website to read more about or contact them ? if yes please contact me here or private

When you'll probably win world champs
This aged poorly.
Awesome as always! Very simple and very effective! Nice double climber! Not sure how that doesn’t bend... damn nasa engineers
NASA engineers indeed
simple is the last word I'd use to describe this robot. no hate, just not simple
We spent almost all of the build season just making, testing, and breaking those forks. There's 8+ different broken forks sitting in a cabinet before we got it working how we liked
Simple for what it does.
Gan Gan Gan Gan Gan Gan Gan Gan Gan Gan Gan Gan it’s great. I would’ve made them out of stainless steel but your robot looks heavy so it might’ve been a problem. Congrats on the banner!
Is it just me or is it weird there was a Chuck e Cheese commercial on this video?
Damn. I wish my team had those funds
very good robot.
Looks amazing as always! ~5813
Damn that’s a pleasing robot
Ridlaaaay. Thanks!!!
I'm just gonna say it the way I feel it, THIS SH*T IS MOTHERF*CKING DOPE!
where does it say robonauts on the robot??? I keep looking and all I can see is NASA ENGINEERS written all over it
their logo looks like the nasa one ffs
Very cool and unique robot!!
"Congratulations you just triggered my FRC flashbacks"
I do believe this breaks R24 on end game.

awesome fork lift idea!
2:29 that is the hottest shot I swear
anyone else see the android looking things in the background at 2:34?
Those are Valkyrie behind the red logo (www.nasa.gov/feature/r5) and R2 behind the whiteboard (robonaut.jsc.nasa.gov/R2/)
The golden state warriors of FRC. its just not fair lol
EricMoranFilms nah Cheesy Poofs gsw of frc
Fair point. At worlds they were the team to beat when my team went. But nevertheless 118 is still pretty OP
No, OP is 2056
EricMoranFilms I agree 118 is definitely one of the most dominant teams in frc history. Another championship win might make them third or second on my list of best in frc
118 is the Houston Rockets of FRC
Seems good but over complicated
Welp i guess we already found a winner😭
nope it was 254, and 184 Lockdown and Uppercut.
Well fuck my school lost
welp, we're fucked.
woooooooooowwwww
Very nice
Oh...
Too good!!
A bunch of 17 yr old did this? Seems legit
Simon G. Some of them are 16
James Trapp Some of them are 14
Some have degrees and masters of engineering
Well, crap. We're screwed
Nice
