Since I joined your channel as a subscriber a little late, I'm starting a binge watch from when you started this roadtrip. Love everything so far man!
Gee ... I'm feeling old. I remember so many of them ... When They Were NEW!
Me 2. I remember the 50 and 60's models.
i remember when the model t came out
I think most of the new RV's now adays are built JUNK. The quality of workmanship and materials, might as well have them built in china for the prices they are asking. Was recently out shopping for an Rv, owned two previous models and the stuff on the market now is imo garbage. Those early shasta are awesome btw. That old school stuff is neat. cheers
I would have to agree. I'm a vintage girl all the way! I travel all over in my 67 Aristocrat :) It's got lots more charm.
True, glue them together and ship em out. Craftmanship is dead. Rv´s are not build to last many years these days
my dodge turbo diesel has no problem
and i get 17-19 on flatland
you have to get a powerplant tug
with towing in mind not a nissan titan
if you have a little car ,get a little tent trailer
then you'll have a good timee
Really enjoyed this video, not only the history with the vintage RVs but these are RVs that real people can afford. I don't like the videos that focus on $500K & above. Thanks for sharing
If I could double thumbs up I would. Great job Eric
Really enjoyed this video and its in my home state! I just LOVE the idea of a "home on the road"...been camping since i was a kid (thanks, Mom and Dad!) and just got my own 13 foot UHaul CT13. Been, guiltily, binge watching you while homework awaits! You inspire me to get out and drive! :)
14:00 my dad had SAME EXACT CAMPER !! If I remember it had a 460 big block in it !! We took it from Brooklyn Nyc to Catskill mountains it's about a 2 1/2 hr ride Tops !!! We had to fill up like 6times i think it got like 2-3 mpg DOWN HILL with gale force winds!! we used it until our cabin got built on our hunting property !! In 1987 we parked it behind the barn!! ole nessie STILL SITS THERE to this day 😌 now home
to quite a few pack rats., a family of opossums, she was a good ole rv SO MANY good family stories come to mind , everytime i look
at her !!! Shes a photo-album on wheels!!!
😞 sorry kinda rambled on but loved that ole girl 😪💦💦💦
Btw , great vid REALLY ENJOYED watching the classics 👍🏻😘
Well done! I appreciate your gentle hand with the camera. So many people's videos jerk your hat right off you head.
That place is awesome, i love the little models showing how the rv's were/are assembled
Gotta see it in person. We spend hours in the library too, but found it uninteresting to film. lol
LOVED THIS VIDEO Thanks Eric.. was very interesting and entertaining.... :) but missed seeing Jax! Even for just a minute... I need my Jax fix... lol
That place is definitely going on my list of places to see. Thanks for a great video!
Gosh. Nice old travel trailers and motor homes... Thanks for sharing video... Happy Trails!
I wonder why they have them in shiny metal back then. Wouldn't RVs get immensely hot when parked under the sun?
Haven't gotten inside an RV so I'm kind of lacking in how it goes about it.
Did you make it to the 2nd floor to the Library ? You could spend days looking at all the old books, magazines and literature. The Airstream ranch is on I-4 just east of 75 on the south side of the road. Bates RV sold out to Tampa RV. You have to stop at the Henry Ford Museum in Detroit area, You can see them making the New ford 150 pickups and walk around all the old buildings, definitely can spend two days looking at everything if you like old things that's the place to go.
Omg i seen Morgan!!! What a rare Morgan siting!!!
This was totally awesome seeing all those beautiful RV's. Thank you for sharing this with us.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Eric you could have made this video 4 hours long and I would have watched every minute. Very interesting. Its funny how we tend to think we have all these new innovations, yet there were slide-outs back in 1913. Thanks for the share.
LOL I just drove by there, The Dometic refrigerators are made just east of there In LaGrange Indiana, cool place.
Thank you Morgan and Eric for the tour.
It brings back wonderful memories to see those vintage rv's.
Great - thanks for sharing that. So fun!!
No meow at the beginning? Why am I feeling that Jax is being phased out of the show. Just give one frame of the poor thing man, I'm not a cat person but I love that furry guy. I need my Jax fix.
Great tour, thanks. I go to a classic RV show every year in Pismo Beach,CA, but I don't see near the variety you took us through.
Great video Eric. This is the first one I've seen of an RV museum. It's pretty cool to see how it all began and all the upgrades they've made through the years.
'''''GREAT VID''''''''MOST INTERESTING.........................................
Wow trip down memory lane, can remember my dad when we were looking for RV's as a kid... Thanks Eric.
Wow some beauties! Wonder why no more stock wood burning stoves -- they make some very safe to use like the Kimberly.
Eric, if that is Morgan @ frame 1:18 right as you reach for the door handle.
She is cute. Enjoyed the rest of the video, too. Cheers, Mate.
1969 RV and Eric thinks there's a spot made for a big screen tv?
hehe
I love this old stuff ..Most of the old stuff was before my time but I remember the ones from the mid seventies when I was a kid . Very interesting trip.
My favorite was the Spartan! I saw an unrestored Spartan trailer that looked like a ghost ship.
We have an Apache from the '70's. If I inherit it and can't keep it, I know where it'll go.
Thanks really enjoyed the Hall of Fame. I to have an Fleetwood RV and it was fun looking at the first one ever.
EXELENT I really enjoyed looking round those old RVs
Wow Some neat RV's indeed Thank you for showing them
Loved it.....Thank you Eric... Super!
Erik this is my favorite video so far loved all the old RV's. Wish I owned a few of them for sure. Hope all is going well for you and Jax.
Great tour thx Eric keep them coming and stay safe out there....
Thanx so much for sharing this...one of those places I never got to...
Ok, where is Jax????? I'm starting to get worried!
The GMC is my dream vintage motorhome. I like how low and wide they are to the ground.
Super tour. They don't build them like that anymore.
I was wanting to know if your coming to Kentucky again ?
Not this trip. Hugging the US edges. Last year I did more interior stuff. Trying new stuff for now. :)
Very cool, your best video to date!.......Thank you for the tour.
I liked this one. It was very interesting
I would like to visit this place. I would be like a kid in a candy store.
Some real classics there Eric, that Winnabago near the end there are some of those on ebay albeit a little worse for wear.
No meow on the intro. :( Great video! I have never been there. Neat piece of history.
Eric, this is another wonderful video. Nice work! Love your steadicam. Time passed quickly watching this, and I wouldn't have been bored if you'd made it a full hour. Thanks for posting.
You do an exceptional job documenting museums.
Weird but I like the trailers of the 30s more than the 50s.
I miss Jax!
I liked these trailers so much I had to share on my facebook. lol
if you pause at 1:19 you can see the refection of the mysterious Morgan! I hate to say this Eric because I know its lonely out there but you need to ditch the chick! The videos are better without!
Go to Eric's facebook page.
Come monday it'll be back to eating frozen walmart pizza and tater tots.
Great job! It was awesome to see these old campers and RV's looking brand new. Very glad you did a full episode on this place!
I loved this video ! One day this will be a place I'll have to visit.
Really glad you took us in here...I didn't even know this kind of place existed!!
I need to get out there and see that stuff for myself. Thanks!

Thanks for the tour, that was very cool.
Thanks for sharing. I'm fascinated by those old RV's. :)
Very cool, had no idea such a place existed.
I just love seeing all those old rv's, and trailers. The gold mine here in Nevada everyone is living in all sorts of trailers. Actually many have refurbished there old trailers. Its almost like doing an old muscle car. Great video

OR - the "Pro Football Hall of Fame" in Canton
OR - ....take a cheap 1/2 day charter on Lake Erie for fishing and the sights!
Do a search of: "lake erie head boats" to find one near you or on route. CAREFUL - YOU WILL BE CATCHING not Just Fishing! Perch are insanely great eating~!!
damn you were right by me
Awesomeness!! Love the oldies. I have a 1960 Scottie waiting to be restored. Hopefully next summer. Meanwhile we are enjoying our modern Jayco. This is definitely a place I want to visit. Thanks for another great video, Eric!
Excellent video. Loved all the old stuff. I remember my folks renting some of those for trips when I was very young. Too much fun so Thanks, Eric ! We own a 1963 GM 4106 ( Greyhound ) 35 ft. bus conversion. It's aluminum. Some of the buses like ours are stainless steel but it's heavy. ALL of the trailers that you thought were stainless steel were actually Aluminum. Most of us don't own a vehicle that would pull something that size made of stainless.
Wow Eric, amazing how much RV'ing has changed, yet, the basics still remain in today's RV's. I guess you can only do so much within such a small space. This was very interesting, I love museums and this one was unique . THANK you for sharing.
It ok to have weather down days Eric. Cant wait for more vids. As always Luv n Hugs to you Eric, Tara, and Opie. Heavenly hugs to Jax. P.s Full time starts bow for me!!!
Thanks for the tour, Eric. Should you come by DC this winter or spring, please let me know and we can take you on my wife's monuments and memorials by moonlight evening tour, which is a drive-by with commentary (and brief stops). We retire and leave town in May. :-) Very pleased about that, too! :-) Then we'll part-time in a motorhome.
Eric, I love the video about the campers of the past----I lived through that era. I remember walking the campgrounds with my parents just looking at all the types. It brings back memories. Gasoline was a lot cheaper then, too! Good slow camera work, also! Not jerky like some Motor Home sales persons---I get sea sick.
STAR STREAK I is in Sacramento at the California Auto Museum ... justacarguy.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-1971-star-streak-motor-homes-and.html
It was built by an Air Force Officer who had several Engineering Degrees. Built to fit in a garage. Too many comments for me to check if anyone already mentioned this or the Blog.
The storage you mentioned in the Mallard near the beginning is a bunk. When I was a young, young boy, I slept in the bunk in our 1960 Shasta. Teardrops were built way back in the early 1900's
Hey the AirStream Ranch in Dover Florida is only 3 miles from my house!! Its on interstate 4 at the Mcintosh Rd. exit. There is also a couple RV dealers at the same location. Everyone in Central Florida knows of our obscure town because of these random\m trailers/ art. Kinda like the Cadillac Ranch out in Amarillo Texas.
The thumbnail tho
It's funny how you said the old tiny Shasta can even be towed with a 6 cylinder SUV. I bet it can be towed with a 4 cylinder sedan. 6 cylinder SUVs can easily tow a 5,000 lbs trailer. I used to tow a 20 ft, dual axle Terry travel trailer with my 98 I6 Grand Cherokee with no issues, even in the mountains. The trailer weight was right at 5,000 lbs but the Jeep had no problem pulling it although I had to use a load leveling hitch and auxiliary brakes on the trailer.
So you mentioned teardrops and asked did you know that they were around in the 50's... well. Teardrop trailers evolved in the 1930's and became extremely popular in the 1940’s after World War II. The Depression was over and the war had given the economy a large boost. The citizens of the US wanted to go on vacation with their families.
Most of the original Teardrop trailers were constructed with materials obtained from World War II surplus markets. The chassis were made of steel U channel or from round steel tubing, and in some cases the wheels came from jeeps that were salvaged and found a new life on a teardrop trailer. The exterior skins were usually made from the aluminum wings of World War II bombers which gave the Teardrop trailers their shiny exteriors. Some Teardrop trailers are called Woodys due to the wood sides.
The popularity of teardrop trailers continued through the 1950’s. This popularity was due to the do-it-yourselfer that wanted to build their own teardrop trailers with their own hands. This is also what is making the teardrop trailers comeback now. In the 1950s the “Popular Mechanics” magazine published teardrop trailer plans in their magazine which many do-it-yourselfers used to build their own teardrop trailers. These plans included a trailer made of wood. Many Teardrop trailers today are built on purchased steel trailers or custom made steel trailers.
Just a few years ago Popular Mechanics updated their plans during an anniversary issue.
Great, enjoyable tour of all those classic RVs! I get really tired of watching videos of fast-talking, used-car-like salesmen trying to hustle their overpriced RVs on us. Finally, enjoyable and leisurely views of many wonderful RVs we will otherwise never get to see. Thanks!
Thanks for taking the time to show the old RV's... Loved it. I'm a kid of the 50s and 60s and we had an old Fleetwood we camped in for years. Thanks Eric.
Are we playing where in the world is Morgan Sandiego? (starting at 6:10) I think you could get quite a few more subscribers with this new game!! Who needs PokeMon Go???!!
Ahh, we had the original turquoise Shasta with the silver wings and black & white floor! I have some grrr8 memories of family vacations in that camper! Thanks for sharing your journey and adventures! :-)
very cool...love the open road Indiana shots at beginning. more of that! who knew...RV HOF? about to take a road trip...will be channeling my inner Eric.
This was one very cool video, you have a way of capturing subjects.
Eric.( If I may with your indulgence.) viewersDon't pay the haters no never mind, , they validate that some thing is good and this channel is probably the best in my opinion and haters have validated that.I myself have been bombarded by this channels haters and it is yet to phase me, ( just wish they could spell )Besides haters views here probably paid for the drone so we score
Don't just watch the videos, read the comments and you soon realize you are in good company with a lot of very nice people here.
Does Eric make mistakes ?, yes, he once put the wrong fuel in the tank, I think that's what broke the generator but glad to see that sticker gone from the filler cap. LOLand some times Jax is not in the clips
But serious, just enjoy the trip
Cool stuff. The GMC's are pretty unique, both coach and chassis design for those that know about them. Was there an Ultra Van there? Used a Chevy Corvair powertrain with a two speed Powerglide transmission.
