Also, all my buddies have IRS Challengers and we are not fortunate enough to have Velcro tracks by us. We struggle, but many of us are running 1.2 60’ using a front Santhuff strut and stock rear Demon struts/Springs. Leaving in 1st gear with 3.09s. Great info on your videos.
1) Lockout Diff and subframe 2) Get rid of rubber bushings; Buy AAD control arms front AND rear. 3) Get the appropriate alignment. 4) Get good shocks. Im in favor of starting with the front. (Controversial) 5) no sway bars for us. 6) liteweight Wheels and preferrably a 15” rear wheel/tire combo.
I'm sitting about 900 to wheel... 6.2 60-130... This guy is starting off in 2nd with 2.62's and I put 309's in mine...I used to hook before I billeted everything and cammed and bored out my SC...Will mine be prone to break as well? I already have the cradle lock out and the diff is waiting to be put in...
Have someone film your car in slo-motion so you can best assess what YOUR car is doing. Have someone that understands and evaluate the videos at the least. Kevin, you have done an excellent job.
That is very impressive! I bought the Viking DBL adjustable 2 weeks before I knew about the menser. Everything is finally getting installed and prep for the last weekend in March. I will be emailing you soon.
Did I miss where you posted the contact info for the Menscer Shocks? I'm trying to decide on Menscers or the Penske 8300 for my 2019 Mustang with TKM built motor with a 3.8L Whipple and the smallest pulley GripTec makes for it. Almost full weight and IRS
I'd love advice from you on my turbocharged 2011 S197 Mustang (3link with panhard bar). I'm struggling to run consistent 1.6 60' times with track times of 6.7's at 106-108mph. I'd also gladly pay you if it improved like I think it should.
Does irs need rear sway bars? Wonfering if i nred it i dont have it ok fromt and back but have been hearimg you need it on the back because irs rear end
Yes I can. Zero degrees on the camber and 1/16" total toe in on this car with the AAD Performance drag pack and menscer shock/springs from Reed Motorsports. Go fast, go straight! Be SAFE!
The mods are covered in this video. Diff support and cradle bushings are also just a given on any IRS. A 426 Hemi with a whipple is freaking deadly. I would love to have this motor in a 2800 lb drag car!!!!! Go fast, go straight! Be SAFE!
@@KevinWilsonSBC Yeah, I heard you mention the engine, but was more curious about actual specs. Are you saying it's completely stock with just the blower?
Good question. John Reed with many years of tuning these cars IRS and front suspensions has dialed in the valving and rate of valving. With the previous shocks, the car struggled to keep the front end "smooth" through the hit to the finish line. They were either too loose or to tight. That is a fine line on keeping the front end moving smooth as the front end of a car this heavy is critical. Then the rear is so much more stable with much, much lighter springs now than what we had to run in the rear to compensate for the shock valving. It is hard to explain how much more control and stability these Menscer IRS shocks give this platform. Go fast, go straight! Be SAFE!
@Kevin Wilson thank you for the reply. I'm fighting launches on my street car at the track. It's a mono leaf/cal trac type setup with Viking DA all around and Hoosier DR Pros. I've gotten it much better but it still has more in it. I'm actually well versed on 4 link setups as we ran in comp eliminator for many years. But this is a whole different animal. I'd like to contact you privately about your ideas if you've got time.
With the 1st gear ratio listed in the video with the rear gear, 4400 lbs and this kind of power and if it hooks the driveshaft will likely quickly become a 2 piece driveshaft... It is hard to explain how much power these motors put down with these whipple superchargers. Remember this is a street car that you can drive around, get groceries, drive thru windows and all with AC and E85 pump gas. Then go run 5.70's at 123 MPH with a 2nd gear launch. Go fast, go straight! Be SAFE!
@@KevinWilsonSBC Thanks for clarifying this Kevin it's the power. Great to have you do an on track IRS video. Not suspension but if you are allowed to say, at what point does Don put the trannie back into Auto so that it's trying to downshift? E85 street tune...WOW! And really nice suspension...talk about hooking on a 295...not too many people adding tire pressure :). Thanks
@Kevin Wilson thanks for the reply. That makes sense. If he ever puts a drive shaft in it and uses first gear make sure you post that video. I think that would be an awesome ride. 👍
The Wavetrac is in a billet rear end from AJ, Hemi Tuner
Stock style rear end, not a 9" conversion? That's one badass big cat!
What settings did y'all start at?
man you have a great poker face, i wouldn’t of been able to contain my excitement! great video and overview!
Thanks for this video. Do more on IRS! 💪🏽
Thanks again Kevin for the help that day. It was a fun day definitely.
Great Job with the videos Kevin. Ive had many people reger to your videos on the IRS cars many times to help people understand whats best for them.

That car is working great now. Awesome video Kevin!
Excellent. Thank you for doing an IRS video.
Awesome! I need to look into this setup

Sway bar on the back isn't it needed to have for irs?

Kevin, you have done an excellent job.
Working great awesome work
Thos is a great video. I have a c3 with QA1s Doubke adjustable I'm going to up the compression setting myself and see if I can spray more off the hit
Ultimately where did you settle on shock adjusts for front and back, on compression and rebound?
That is very impressive! I bought the Viking DBL adjustable 2 weeks before I knew about the menser. Everything is finally getting installed and prep for the last weekend in March. I will be emailing you soon.
Awesome work Kevin !! How would you go about a similar IRS setup around 4000 lbs on slicks and manual trans?
Appreciate all the details! Are you also dealing with the factory HP90, stock?
I am pretty sure it has been "beefed" up, but those details I am not 100% positive about. Sorry. Go fast, go straight! Be SAFE!
Great video thanks for sharing!!!! If you whould of ran a 6th pass that day would u increase air pressure?
Most likely. Go fast, go straight! Be SAFE!
Wow, 4400 pounds...no drama, it just goes! Very impressive.

Penske 8300 or Menscer will suit you great!! You can contact Jerry at Penske at 610-375-6180 or Menscer at 910.491.2798 Go fast, go straight! Be SAFE!
What was the stall on that converter? It didn't squat at all the second video. Thanks.
Wow awesome 👌

What kinda rpms is the car launching at?
WOW 2ed gear
@kevinwilsonsbc leaving in 2nd so he is paddle shifting the car down the track?
I actually think he is letting the computer do the shifting. Go fast, go straight! Be SAFE!

yes on the back to help control twisting. Go fast, go straight! Be SAFE!
@KevinWilsonSBC thank you sir! Just ordered a thick one and about to order upgraded sway bar end links too
First. Yay. Love from New Zealand mate.
congratulations, can you share your rear alignment specs

Can you elaborate a little on how the new shocks are an improvement? Not trying to criticize anybody's product. Just trying to learn

Didn't he have to change the rear brakes to run a 15 inch wheel?

Yes, the car has a 15inch conversion done in the back
Why not leave in first gear?
