As a Filipino there's no need to worry about dating a Japanese girl/guy, culture and language difference is not a hindrance, because as we Filipinos can make adjustment in differences.

Filipina married to a Japanese guy for 3 years and we dated for almost 2 years prior. His background is he studied for years in Australia and he is fluent in English (now I am learning more Japanese and he is learning Cebuano), so our language barrier is nonexistent. The cultural differences and his different approach on romance and his love language were a huge challenge in our relationship. We just communicated and communicated. I am happy that both of our families are supportive of our relationship and even tease us to have kids every single time we talk to them. My husband and I now are in a stage of our relationship where we are building our unique world especially on how we treat and communicate with each other….even mixing Japanese-English-Tagalog-Cebuano that sounds like some funny made up language.

@@iliveforjinyoungspeach7141 we actually met on Tinder and he sounded so serious (he wanted to practice English and I wanted to practice spoken Japanese for my job at that time) at first and the sudden confession from him shocked me the most. I didn't know he was already courting me 1 month of our "language exchange". I thought he just wanted to practice English with me that time. I could be quite dense to guys' emotions at that time though. Not a problem now, 4 yrs in our marriage and we're getting a lot better with each other as a married couple.

This was an interesting one! My bf is Japanese and I’m Filipino and we both embrace each other’s cultures. He can cook my food and I can cook his. He can recognize Tagalog phrases and I can pick up some Japanese phrases. It’s all about being interested in the other. I feel like these answers were a little strange, because it almost felt as if they believed it would be hard just based on different cultures and food. That’s something you work on together - it’s not make or break.

I think it's also the way the questions were phrased. Already implying that there's something to be "worried about" instead of "what do you like about Filipinos?" Interview questions are already negative and problematic. :( It's sad

I met a Japanese girl in Hiroshima way back 2018, we were both delegates for a peace conference. She confessed to me and asked if she could be my girlfriend. I kinda felt pressured since we've only been talking for less than a week. I didn't know what to do during that time because I was too loyal to my Filipina crush in school. I told her that we should work on our friendship first so that we'll be able to know each other better. I guess she didn't understand what I mean and felt rejected instead. I tried reaching her out on LINE, Facebook, and Instagram but she wouldn't reply. Based on my experience, I think Japanese women are too aggressive when it comes to confessing their feelings. I also think that they are workaholics. I thought about it when she asked me and I was worried that long distance relationship wouldn't work out if she can't dedicate enough time to communicate with me.

The way I see it, there is more Japanese guy date or married to filipina ( many factors on this like insecurity of Japanese guys can’t date fellow Japanese female or loyalty’s.) but what about Japanese women dating white guys? They also have different cultures and languages. It seems that skin color and backgrounds is the issue for Japanese women

Personally I have Filipino friends and relative that are married to Japanese. Culture and language barriers can be overcome when two people with different cultures and languages work it out in the name of love. Filipinos can adopt easily to anything whether cultures or languages. Truth be told though, most Filipinos and Filipinas are sweet, caring, thoughtful, and loving. We live by the saying love conquers all.

The interview was so much fun! I'm smiling throughout the video. ☺️
The punctuality of Filipinos are usually laughed at here, which is sad. We have to change this mindset and also be considerate towards the person waiting for us, not wasting their time, effort, and intentions like the way we don't want it done to us, right?
To be honest, if a man or a woman really likes you, they would respect your personal space and decisions no matter what their nationality is, especially if you're not dating them yet, like the case with that lady who were in a camping with a Pinoy, just my 2 cents though.

Would most japanese guys be ready for a filipina? Filipina girls are a totally different breed of woman when compared to japanese girls, they are laughing out loud instead of giggling, they are noisy, they like sex, they like to kiss and cuddle and they just love to eat. They are more like sturdy coffee cups compared to the fragile teacups that are japanese girls.

First, if Japanese have more opportunities for international exchange, Secondly if we have more exchanges with Filipinos, their perspectives may change.

US-born-and-raised Filipino here. Although I myself am not married to a Japanese (my wife is actually Filipina but could pass for Japanese or Chinese by looking at her), I have Japanese friends of both sexes. And from my experience, they seem to enjoy the presence of being around Filipinos during their time studying abroad out here in Hawaii. And they are quite common in our area.
Aside from being polite and punctual, they had quite the addiction of experiencing our way of fun. And to this day, we still miss our hangout days since they’re no longer here in the U.S. but we keep in contact with each other for all time.

Hi Mana! This topic is interesting. If I were to date a Japanese woman, I will invest time to learn your language to set a foundation for communication. (if she can speak english, it will be good) I believe other differences can be easily worked on if we can understand each other better. Culture, food, religion, & other barriers will not gonna be difficult to overcome once communication has been properly established. Stay safe there in Japan 😊

In my perspective, understanding each other's culture will lessen the worries. Therefore, if given a chance to date a Japanese woman, I will promise to be more understanding and we’ll immerse ourselves in each other's culture.

I agree. Filipinos are understanding, patience, flexible, adaptive, caring, loving, thoughtful, polite, we can learn anything from them also how we should treat them according to their likings. We can also cook their food for them. 😅The way we handle our own siblings and parents. We are also serious about relations, jobs, businesses, relations to anything and God.😍

Fact: japanese and other east Asia only prefer their own race than others, most east Asian has a pride on their own features but they admire western faces more. So east Asians or japanese marrying Filipino and South East Asians is pretty hard compare to their own race and Caucasian because that's how Asia works. So don't put your hopes up, because you will not want the truth. Me a Filipino half Chinese managed to get rejected multiple times. Until I knew that east Asians mostly preferred their own race in culture. But most of Asians go to western country just to show admiration to them and marry Caucasian

Filipinos are Forgotten small Latinos of Asia and yet Malayans - Islanders all at once while Japanese are Independent own unique Culture, traits and history. Both are Strong adaptable flexible mix of Western commerce and traditions. Also, Japan's declining aging population while the Philippines rising population with global Industrial Recognition will meet a perfect balance. I had a Japanese boyfriend before, we are both foreigners in the foreign land, and I don’t know what worries him about me because he’s always considerate. And one thing worried me as a Filipina dated a Japanese guy was that, long-term relationship is not advisable for these two nationals. "We really love to date with foreigners" Our mixed culture especially the Spanish and American influences have some contributions to it but I believe we are mainly influenced by the media. We see big celebrities mga mestiza/mestizo, chinito/chinita in movies, tv shows, commercials and magazines. We see them as having wealth and prestige over those who looks local and darker skin. This also why skin whitening products are big in the Philippines.

I think the most worrying is the culture & belief because we do have our differences. But in order for us to communicate, we have to learn the language on both sides for us to have a better understanding. I do understand that girl says in the video that Filipino guys are aggressive but I think that's the way a Filipino guy how to express his feeling towards a girl like her so I guess she didn't find that nice on her part. The better way to approach this, as Filipinos we need to know or learn more better about Japanese culture, likewise for Japanese to learn more about Filipino culture as well.

I'm with this Filipina-Japanese girl and the biggest hurdle I'd say between us is the language barrier, culture, and lack of common interest. Btw, Pinoy naman ako, pure blooded. Although I can see that she's into me (she hinted me sooo many times), I'm not so sure if I should continue pursuing her because of the said hurdles earlier (not to mention the long distance). Even though half pinay sya, she's very "Japanized", barely knows Tagalog and our culture. She's born and raised there, and her mom I guess didn't taught her their Filipino roots that much. At first, yah it's fun, we've talked about our differences, I serenaded her with my guitar, among other things. Deep inside I know I like her too, but I'm hesitating. The language barrier is just a deal breaker, because I know how important communication is between couples and even this basic understanding of each other is already a problem between us. When we're calling, she can barely understand what I say (gotta rely much on Google translate). Culturally speaking, she's ok for me since she has visited the Philippines for several times (that's how I met her, ka baranggay lang namin yung tinuluyan nya).

This may kind of make a different image of filipinos from the rest but it could've been more fun to see their reactions if they see filipino celebrity or just attractive filipino images to them and like make it interesting haha.
edit: actually, when it comes to filipinos learning a language, words or verbally it's easier?? because many are open not just the extroverted but the introverted ones too that they are so "makulit" and lively to their small close groups, verbal and body language on different people are quite fine to understand, so writing in different cultures would be where the due diligence is

Well, it's a human nature I guess for most people really don't like to go out from their confort zone. But, being a Filipino man like my self, we usually don't worry much having a date from other nationalities. We always like to explore the unknown and when things not going as we expected? We just simply chuckle our selves and shy away and say "maybe next time." 😌😏

I'm quite sure if a Filipino guy, would ask a Japanese lady for a date...and they were in Japan, I'm sure of that Filipino guy can speak nihonggo or even write and can communicate well with that Japanese lady. As you observe most filipinos when going abroad have orientation about the basic language and culture of the country. And most of the time we adopt the culture like being locals. So I don't think there would be a language barrier anymore..maybe just the culture anyway. Just my thoughts anyway...congrats mana for the 500k subs...God bless you always.

It's a very intriguing and interesting question. I think, most of their answers are quite true like coming late(Filipino time), aggressive is not the right term(too friendly). But for foods, some of us can eat Japanese food. Because we are open to try different cuisines.
I have a friend who had a Japanese GF before. So, I think it's possible for Japanese and Filipino to go together, they just need to settle their differences and make things work out between them as a couple.

Well if I we’re to date a Japanese I would only worry about how can I make her see that language barrier and culture difference not hard between us. Because to me, I really like to learn about the culture of Japan and I’m learning 日本語 right now. I also have Japanese friends so if the culture and language is to be the problem then it’s not with me because I am very much aware of culture and language in Japan 😅😊 In the future I want to work and live there and be with my friends. I’m just afraid of dating because i don’t know if they will like me enough, but I tell you I can pretty much keep up with everything so don’t worry 😂😊.
