My dopamine levels shoot through the roof whenever I see Danny boy share a new episode. I appreciate all the work you do, Dan!
Lol “Danny boy”
Dan’s stuff is always the best! Thank you sir!
Ms. Jacobsen is a top author on the US intelligence community.
My heart absolutely does a cartwheel whenever I see a new Dan Carlin joint has been released. I don't know a better way to say it
Annie Jacobsen is amazing, her work has revealed a lot of wtf dark and mysterious information.
Really cool to hear Dan chat her up!
I found her audiobook Phenomenon on UA-cam... I can't find it anywhere now...she knows EXACTLY HOW INSANE this is..how it all works
@@RebelVsRebelit’s all on audible, Amazon prime subscribers get a free book per month I’m pretty sure. Used several of my credits on her stuff
This author's own words undermine her credibility. One minute she is talking about SSBNs then 5 minutes later she has forgotten them completely and claims the US doesn't have ICBMs that could hit NK without them overflying Russia. The land based stuff is irrelevant. The USN could park a SSBN 50 miles from Pyongyang and the Dear Leader would never know. Later she doubled down, stating that this was a "huge hole in our national security". My Spidey Sense says someone pushing for longer range land based missiles that nobody needs spun her this silly scenario that anyone with access to a map could see through by observing the proximity of NK to both the Sea of Japan and the Yellow Sea.
Fucking exactly, the sheer stupidity of that leap in logic in successive order was hilarious.
Nailed it.
Such an appropriate time to discuss these things. We need some level heads getting this back into the minds of Americans. Thanks Dan!
It's always a good day with a new Dan drop!
Thank you Dan, your work has educated me across millennia of history and a decade of my life. You have my sincere gratitude 🙏🏽
Just finished the book on Audible and here's my favourite Podcaster/interviewer with more. Nice
I did as well, absolutely fantastic and relentless in driving home just how bad it's going to go the day someone presses the button
Did she do the narration for the audio book? She does have a lovely voice.
@@markb8468 Yeah she did, i like her voice also.
I could binge watch Dan Carlin and The Why Files all damn day. Just wanted to share that is all thank you.
Why Files, hell yeah.
What's why files?
@MachielSchrijver A tv production quality yt page about all kinds of conspiracies. Page is called The Why Files. I cannot recommend it enough. It's so well researched and is literally one of the best pages on UA-cam. Check it out if your into that kind of stuff. It's up to 4 mil subs so they're doing something right!
@@MachielSchrijver It's one of the greatest show on all of UA-cam. It's truly one of a kind with how top notch the quality and presentation is. Show goes into everything from mk ultra to ufos to ancient mythologies and goes into some of the more goofy and fun conspiracies as well as real ones. I cannot understate how good it is. If you enjoy the stories that Dan weaves together you will love this channel! Give "The Why Files" a chance you won't be disappointed!
A youtuber who talks about conspiracies, aliens, hollow earth, etc. He'll present the story as it's usually told and then debunk what he can from it while giving food for thought. Seems like a cool guy
Literally watched Lex and Anne’s interview today and now this amazingness
The GOAT is back!
It's 2 am here in Mexico. Its time...time for the hard-core history!!!
The authro's supposition that an American counter attack on North Korean would require an ICBM and not simply a sub based launch from the pacific so as to antagonize Russia seems like a end of the spectrum poor choice for the US president who by the author's own admission has a menu of retaliator options available to him. While it may make for a impactful story telling mechanism how many sub-optimal choices does the author really need to string together in order to make the book work, as if real nuclear launches aren't bad enough.
I noted that too, given she not long prior to this mentioned how much shorter the window of action would be from a submarine based attack.
Indeed. She had so many issues I started making a post to list them but had to give up half way through the video so I didn't end up writing a book of my own.
Longest sentence ever
While I’m guessing that would be the utilized option I doubt anyone would admit that concretely to a journalist. So it ‘could happen’.
Heck ya. Everyone buy some merch so Dan can keep this up forever!!!!
Nice bedtime listen. I just hope it takes me out instantly. I have no desire to live as a hunter gatherer. Sweet dreams and hopefully peace.
The most eye-opening thing for me is apparently the average American doesn't know it could all end, horribly, in a matter of minutes. That sure explains why we live the way we do
Made my day. Thanks Dan
Your most important subject Dan. Thank you.
Clockwork Orange force this message into the ears and eyes of all the people foaming at the mouth for a war they can't even imagine.
And here i was thinking we wouldnt hear from you in months. What a treat
"In a real scenario, that acting president isn't going to be a 92-year-old man." I don't know if this quote is gonna hold up, the way things are going.
they'll hypothesise endlessly about a NK situation but will never ask if a subverted democracy that has installed nominal leadership serving interests besides those of the voters might pursue an escalatory war path
on an unrelated note, the USA is currently occupying a third of Syria, selling arms to saudi, and the list goes on for quite a while.
@discordantduck1808
Syria is a failed state so who cares?
At the end of the day there is no such thing as escalation unless it is a direct conflict with a parity power.
Name a single desert nation with parity to the US?
Maybe Iran? There is no nuclear war possible unless america is struck first. Given there is no power that could hope to win in a first strike, there is nothing to worry about.
Let me reiterate: unless you are speaking of scifi story level of nonsense like an american president launching a first strike for no reason, there is no enemy to america that can facilitate MAD. Without that, no nuclear war.
Look at the colossal threat quietly standing just off stage and effectively looming over us.
Now. Look at the individuals who can influence or control the unleashing of these horrors:
....ButcherBiden
....Antony Blinken
....the orange ape
....Lloyd Austin
.....Tillerson
.....Pompeo
....Bibi Netanyahu
....Kim Jung IL
....the amorphous, faceless, little known leadership at NATO
Anyone have any confidence in our longevity ?
Another fascinating episode but I just wished they touched on Israel’s arsenal and the likelihood of them using it
As always, Thank you Dan!
Love to see you are back. Total respect for your work.
I read Nuclear War: A Scenario in one sitting after listening to this. Incredible and terrifying book. There's a couple 'just-so' moments that ensure that the situation continuously worsens that do not feel entirely plausible, but the idea that the fate of the entire world can rest on, say, whether or not the President of the United States can get in contact with the President of Russia in the next ten minutes, is utterly terrifying.
Her book was awesome in the way that awe is
Thank you, Dan
Oh man, I wasn't expecting this one. Thank you so much Dan, your podcasts are amazing for during chores and trying to fall asleep. Absolutely awesome, keep up the excellent work❤
Thanks for the interview and book recommendation. I just finished the book on Audible and enjoyed it.
Thanks for everything you do, Dan. Your thought provoking content is just what I need when winding down for the night.
Holy shit 2 new episodes now? What a good way to start my day. Thank you Dan!
That was a great conversation. Thanks as always
Recently I watched a lecture series on Prime about pre-Inca cultures in the Andes. It described an ancient urban culture that lasted a couple thousand years. The amazing thing was that there were no defensive walls around the cities, and no evidence of warfare. It was the most hopeful thing I have ever heard
Should it be? Given that those people were wiped out by the ruthless, inhumane actions of our current over-seers perhaps you should rethink what about it is so inspiring to you
Personally I think it would take more than just an absence of evidence of warfare to support the notion of an entire civilization was completely without it. It's a bit like telling me there's no evidence that they spoke, I think it's still a much safer bet that they did. We are almost certainly the least violent, most politically unified human beings in the history of the world, unless the Atlantians show up. If there are conditions in which human beings can live peaceably we are much closer to those conditions than ever we have been. I think we easily beat any of our ancestors in regards to any metrics that I would imagine make peace easier, extreme material abundance, highly unified and stable political units on a scale our ancestors couldn't imagine, relatively clear lines of authority, unprecedented cultural exchange, mutual respect and knowledge, technologies of communication that allow people across the planet to communicate. Yet we still have wars, so I'd say a bunch of dudes who can't just call the police when someone is bothering them probably fought quite a bit more.
Yes, it does take more than an absence of evidence to determine whether this culture had no warfare. I would recommend the lecture series because it was very convincing. I'm 62, and believed that war is the human condition. That is why I was so impressed
Convetsely..........

Given your point, I think we have de-evolved.
I bet the Coast Gaurd felt really left out...
You got a huge shout out from Elon Dan. Baller!
Bless you Dan and team 🎉🎉🎉
Hell yeah! Glad to see this
As a wise man once answered an alomst tone-deaf question on facebook (ikr): What would you do if Putin would decide to nuclear attack your country? "I'd try to be as close as possible to the bomb blast."
PS: truly horrific scenarios - good job. Cheers!
Really loved this. Such a smooth, informative conversation with depth to it. Thank you both.
Victoria Newland and Chrystia Freeland come to mind 1 minute in.
Sewage drenched leadership...and they can influence a button pusher.
As always, the best of the best
@DanCarlin
Comment and question:
First - fantastic as usual! I love your interviews and perspectives, especially on nuclear weapons/war. You’ll always be the GOAT.
Second - have you ever considered doing videos? I’d love to actually see these sit downs or video calls! I think it’d be fantastic.
Keep up the great work! As a student of history and contemporary military, I’ve learned so much from you. Blueprint of Armageddon is still my favorite podcast series hands down!
Loved the episode! Great stuff as allways, Dan.
Great content as always Dan! Thank you
Thanks for the new show 🎉❤🎉
She's great. Very much on point
This is a great interview
This was haunting. Well done.
Great video!!! For my taste she was your most interesting guest so far.
Dan Carlin. You’re the man!
Ordered her book. Great show, Dan!
An hour ? Now THAT is a „blitz”
Good to be informed Thank you
Her voice is amazing! Lex Friedman has a great interview with her, where she explains this issue in detail! 100% recommended
These are possibly the two most dramatic voices ever put together. Maybe James Earl Jones and Morgan Freeman could match it, but it would take nothing less.
HARDCORE is the only way to do History! Thank you Dan!
Hey dan i have listened to you for years and was wondering, is there a way to get some of your old shows . Like wrath of the khans or blueprints for Armageddon, or even prophets of doom . Cause its enjoyable to go back a relisten to them .
Not a fan of this book from her but it opened my eyes to her other work and her book on the CIA is fantastic!
Mr. Carlin ,irrespective of the topic and whether a deep dive or addendum you could provide 75 hours of content because it's absolutely wonderful .
Thanks ever much
Just watched fallout and this drops. Great talk.
Gwynne Dyer, Dan Carlin, and now welcome Annie Jacobsen (I recently only discovered her on Lex Fridman’s podcast) to my short list of favorite voices on human conflict history and journalism. I tore through her new book in a day…frustrating and depressing but damn is it a brilliant page turner.
Love you and the team, Dan
Annie’s operation paper clip book is one of my personal favorites
Every new Hard Core History comes like the first gulp of water to thirsty man.
Every day we get to live is a blessing. The potential destruction is just minutes away Every Day
Wonderful and scary at the same time. cudos dan and More to the point Annie.
With such dirt poor leadership in the modern world the amount of doomsday weapons laying around is just crazy.
Great show.
Cheers!
Such a calm voice for such a disturbing topic
Great stuff like always
Thank you
Absolutely a treat!
Oh that the “you will have to read it in my book” lady from JRE 😅
Love Annie’s voice
Great immediately complaining about Trump. Not a Trump fan personally but im so tired hearing about him and how scary he is.
Not a fan yet immediately triggered by a objectively factual reference to his, at times candid belligerence
@@AS-gz8oe Who says he was triggered? Sounds to me like he is just tired of hearing about him. Frankly, I had a discernible issue with her all the way through. From her first sentence she raised alarms then all the way through her interview she demonstrated a lack of understanding of multiple issues. And none was related to hearing, or potentially so, about Trump. Frankly it's hard to imagine how someone could interview so many top level people and still get so many things wrong.
How dangerously stupid Trump is can not possibly be overstated
@AS-gz8oe first of im not a fan. Seriously you ALL HAHE to stop doing that!!!! It's astonishing how many voters are pushed away from Democrats because the party of "agreeance" immediately outcast anyone with the skightrmmmmm
Thank you Dan. Anytime you speak its a pleasure.
9 countries with the Bomb? Does that mean 10... when we count Israel.
Nicely put.....
Let’s prevent nuclear armageddon by building the ICAN movement to implement the Nuclear Ban Treaty.

NEW EPISODE ON FRIDAY! woohoo 🙌
Power Overwhelming
Bout to hit 500k subscribers...well deserved
This is great.
Two of my favorite history junkies in a conversation about nuclear peril?! Oh, yes, please.
Amazing interview
Nice one Dan
Saw her on Lex, then Harbinger, now Carlin. I feel like her book tour is going to do more to spread the word than her book!
Nice and light listening...
7 days for this video to pop up on my youtube feed, just wow, considering i always watch as soon as there is a new episode out. (I am signed up to the newsletter, but wanted to check, how long it take for it to show up by itself )
We are living on borrowed time and madness, experience love and share love all you can
Just reading the title this morning lets go
There are better reasons to listen to Annie Jacobsen, but she has maybe the hottest voice of anyone I've ever heard.
Dude i need a 4hr podcast minimum. You are just teasing with these hour episodes. Stop it.
4-12hrs, that's what i need.
Her voice is hypnotic
Her over dramatic approach and poorly understood issues was too much. I had to stop half way through. It's astounding that she interviewed so many top level people and understood so little.
Christmas came early 🙌🙌
Still waiting for the Dan Carlin takes on the Thirty Years War and the Crimean War.
One thing took me off of the narrative. At some point, it is said that an Ohio class submarine has 90 nuclear missiles, then moments later it is said that the only way to reach North Korea would be sending missiles over Russia. Maybe this is explained on the book, but it kinds of created a contrievance for the dramatized scenario to ensue.
I feel like this channel is being artificially suppressed. How is there only 500K subscribers?
WhoopWhoop!! My day just got a lot better! Anyone know approximately when the next Hardcore is going to be released?
Great show! Never gonna have a light hearted episode are we? Ah that’s what’s the Germany WW1 VS Germany WW2 vid. Be safe y’all can’t wait for the next show!
All bow to his Holiness.
We're not WORTHY!
We miss you Dan
