It is not possible to take a photo over a landline in the studio, nor would a caller expect to be photographed, if he did he would have to physically sign a waiver. Photo's used by set-ups like pakman are public domain. Likewise the photo of David wasn't taken at the exact moment of that call. All advertising is false advertising by your definition. Nothing ever looks like its photo, it is a guide, poetic license in some cases, an indication of what to expect.

I am now center right, but was farther right. I used to vote mostly Republican, but Trump changed that. Now I see myself as an independent. I will probably vote Democrat in the next election, especially if Trump is the Republican nominee. He wrecked the country and cannot in good conscience support him.

I'm a moderate, and I think Biden has helped get some great bills thru that a non-MAGA/far-right person would have to agree with, but he's at a certain age and is slow, etc -- and I can't see any worthy President-level Dems stepping up to the plate to run against him... and I would vote for Chris Christie or a Northeastern Republican (anti-MAGA/far-right in spirit), for the sake of squashing the far-right that is now mainstream within the right, while also not seeing it as bad within their politics in and of themselves. Where those guys are socially liberal, which is a relative term, relative to the right as a whole -- and not dumb to ruin the economy like the far right wants to, to cripple the economy to make a statement, etc. Not ideal all-around, as I'd rather have [namely a younger] Biden, but the Republican party needs to silence the MAGA fan-boy crowd that sickeningly has warped a good % of the people's minds.

Problem with socialism, in this helping matter, is that it's mandatory help and thus, it's not really honest. There is no sense of solidarity without help being voluntary. And so it breeds resentment. Also, there's the issue that who is getting the help is a matter of bureaucratic decision, not individuals or groups freely making that decision. Helping is good, but as much as possible... let individuals decide who to help and how much.
Having been born in a socialist country, I can attest just how much we distrust one another, precisely because this is where the system led us. Our civil society is weak. Why? We don't associate with one another, because we don't trust one another. So, enforced solidarity has serious limitations.
People complaining about socialism must carry a shovel so they can take a dump in their back yard. No roads, schools, hospitals, police/fire/ambulance or sanitation, because these are all "socialist" programs. 😅

As a Socialist I'm all for Left Unity. I'm a moderator for the Leftist Trucker Collective and we are explicitly a Leftist Unity group. Anyone who is intolerantly Leftist, like actively hostile to anyone to the Right of Stalin and Kim Jong-Il, they generally aren't welcome because that kind of toxicity ain't good for solidarity. We accept anyone from Center to Far Left so long as you mind your manners.
I can see why it's important, but I also see the seeds of progress, change and innovation in dissent and disagreement. There's a tension point where you can optimise progress without compromising stability and I think that point is where debate is robust, yet respectful. I hope that is your ethos. 😊

You did the same for me as well. Former republican. Voted republican since I could legally vote (now 36 yrs old). And add The fact that im LGBT. Somehow I fell into the MAGA culture like behavior. Rallies, wearing hats t shirts never thought he could do anything wrong etc. Voted for him in 2016. Begrudgingly voted for him in 2020 even though during the 2nd election I was on the fence at that time. I actually damn near voted for Elizabeth Warren before Biden secured the nomination. But I just didn't wanna betray my side and everyone can understand that if you've voted that way your whole life even if you're newly opening your eyes to seeing the truth it's still hard at first to accept things. I voted for him.. ut I wasn't happy voting for him the 2nd time.
When January 6th happened and all the craziness that came with it I finally realized that I was done. The maga supporters and their crazy "he's still president" and all this bs i just couldn't get with it. I started watching tyt and you and many other channels and I just finally see how fucking insane those people are. It truly is a cult

In my almost 10 years of living in the US, it is the first time (that I can recall) that I hear anyone ELSE (other than myself) identifying as a social Democrat.

When you have a larger group of people I don't think you can get away without some degree of infighting. It's just people. You might get some groups with less of it than others but it's going to happen either way. That said, the right seems to be capitalizing on it at this moment in politics and history.

I am FAR left, considering myself closer to socialist/communist and still have been called too right wing. My view however tends to be unique. I prefer democracy where my ultra left views are taken into consideration rather than the sole voice. Most prefer authoritarians that share their political beliefs instead.
If government was a dinner party with friends and I wanted pizza, I'd not say we're having pizza and that is it. Instead, I ask what my friends want and we figure out something we all would like to eat together.
I think most folks who sling around the phrases "communists" "socialist" and "fascists" actually don't know what those terms mean. If everyone would take a breath and do some research on their own with critical thinking most of this BS-stuff would come to a grinding halt. When I'm in discussions with individuals who have a different viewpoint I ask them to describe their position in everyday terms that impact their own lives without any sound bites and they really have a hard time doing that. Then I break down my positions in everyday terms that impact lives in the neighborhood where most folks live and then I see this "ah ha" moment of understanding. End of conflict.

The discussions are good to have we not a monolithic type of thing.
But maybe be better at having differences without sometimes going to high but accept these differences more.
However this is also sometimes often enhanced by political opponents to exaggerate or imply differences at a level that there might not be.
I don’t agree with even the closest of my peers with almost anything. That’s good and gives multifaceted discussions and ideas.
I love Bernie even though he's too far left for me. I'm not seeing left-wing infighting. Someone who has an intelligent reason for their policies, still gets my respect even if I disagree with them. It's the ignorant clown show on the right I can't tolerate.
With the Republicans vanishing off the Right end of the scale, this leaves the Democratic party to represent the entire range of thought that used to be the two major parties. This is untenable. The Democrats should split into at least two new parties to allow people to group together by common thought. But with our silly voting scheme, where each person only gets one vote, and minor candidates can win, third parties are impossible. We seriously need Ranked Choice Voting to allow third parties to grow in support.
But David. what was it that worked? We need to know?
Probably seeing someone actually exhibit critical thinking and doing research as opposed to hearing Tucker Carlson ask every night “can you become gay from using your microwave?”

And/or ask them to enumerate exactly what a socialist is, what a communist is, with examples of social liberal vs liberal socialist. 90% have no clue, just parrot the talking point.
I myself identify as socially liberal/ progressive and economically conservative. I desire strong fiscal oversight of spending to avoid massive fraud and waste. But not interrsted in throwing the baby out with the dirty bathwater either. Not naive enough to think fraud doesn't exist.

maybe none of us want to 'align' with any particular 'party', maybe we all agree and disagree with things from all views, and don't like the idea of being forced to choose a side. maybe we dont like being called 'extreme' anything.
This is an example of Mr Pakman (and his caller) displaying a level of political ignorance which is fairly typical in the USA - even amongst those who consider themselves politically sophisticated. Mr Pakman is not on 'The Left', and that is because there is no Left-wing ideological position that he adheres to. Being a social and economical Liberal DOES NOT put you on the Left. Support for the capitalist system DOES put you in the Right in relation to the major economic (and therefore political - as politics and economics are one and the same thing) issue of our time. Capitalism is (as one Karl Marx once said) a hugely productive, and even revolutionary, idea that has transformed the lives of millions. But capitalism is also self-destructive and wasteful, it concentrates economic and political power, leads to vast inequalities of wealth, and ultimately to overproduction, conflict, and collapse. The future health (and survival) of our species and of the biosphere that supports all life on this planet is utterly incompatible with the continuation of capitalism and all those who promote and defend the current economic system have adopted a Right-wing position on the most vital and consequential issue facing human-kind.
Explain to people the difference between forms of economics, and forms of government. Capitalism v socialism v communism. And how we have a capitalist private sector, and a socialist public sector. Democracy v authoritarian v dictatorship v King/Queen v fascism. And how we have a democracy. Then explain how and why capitalists demonize socialism and mislead through fear to conflate socialism and authoritarian rule.

Fighting over culture is idiotic, but fighting over policy is a great thing...that's how the better solutions get their opportunity to be 'pushed to the top'.

Social democrat is still pro capitalism. Depends if you think capitalism is an ideology or just an economic system that can be implemented regardless of what party in power. Capitalism isn’t necessarily only the cut throat version we see today, although I think capitalism will always end up in that state.
I mean, if you are a capitalist who just thinks govt needs to knock the hard edges off free market capitalism, then you are right wing. After all, many right-wing people also think there is some role for govt to smooth out the edges of free market capitalism, so the difference is just down to how much sandpaper the govt should be using to smooth out capitalism. Progressives don't have to be socialists to reject capitalism as the core economic modus operandi, but to be truly progressive you do have to reject capitalism on the whole while one can still recognise that elements of the capitalist framework can remain in a new economic paradigm.
As currently constituted the arrangements offered by capitalism provide ever increasing public supports for people as they move up the economic ladder ... in other words the richer you get the more structural support you will recieve from a capitalist society.
Mean while the poorer you are the less structural support you will recieve from the current arrangements.
The underlying structure is like a "bowl" ... with the great mass of the poor low in the center and a thin rim of the rich being supported higher, and ever higher, out toward the edges.
This gives an overall shape that resembles a drinking cup, with the edges being rather tall and thin (the rich with their own wealth plus all the structural support holding them up even higher) and the poor being much lower in the center (having little of their own wealth and little structure supporting them from below the way the rich get supported) ... it might actually become a funnel/tube if there is so little support that a literal "hole" forms where the poorest people are "missing" in the center because they have insufficient resources for survival.
Socialists envision an alternative arrangement that is opposite to this, where the poor recieve more structural support from society than the rich.
In this model the underlying structure would be more like a "dome" ... with the poor held up in the center and the rich toward the edges holding themselves up with their own resources rather than having excess structural support from the society.
The end result would look not like a cup or a funnel but more like a nearly solid cylinder with a relatively flat top, perhaps a mild concave shape, with the preference being the flatter the top the better.
