Great video as always and good points and opinions bro. I am a big fan of JLC. The new releases are amazing and definitely the tribute skeleton chronograph really appeals to me. So much, that it is making me think. Yes, agree the Reverso is definitely not for a one watch collection. JLC is a brand which will and always be for the watch connoisseur. They know they will never be able to compete with the marketing hype of a Rolex for example, so they market it to their niche dress watch market and actually quite successfully because they are stil profitable doing so. Every watch consumer want different things and rhey havw tapped into the clients they want and can keep. If they try to market it against Rolex, they know they know they will be swallowed up. JLC are the connoisseurs choice. They are watches for watch people. I love how they are under the radar and nothing like the Rolex hype machine. People that love watches will also buy Rolex, but “normal” people will only aspire to own a Rolex because of the image snd the kudos that gives them. JLC are just the daddy and the latest releases are stunning! 👌👌
I disagree. There is no watch or brand that makes you a watch person, or connoisseur . Just like there is no watch you can buy that makes you NOT a watch person or connoisseur.
I think the moustache looks great and regarding JLC I'm kind of happy they are not overhyped and hard to get like Rolex, but agree with the somewhat weak or strange branding strategy they got. They need to do a reverso on that 😋

The rectangular form factor can be the only watch or as part of ur small to extensive collection. It has to fit your personality, character and style. Hey man you are the boss of you. Have confidence in your choices and do what you want to do. Let’s not over complicate the issue- get and wear what you like, your way. Remember that the reverse was the original sports watch.

JLC’s ambassadors are terrible - I don’t believe for one second they even heard of the brand prior to being appointed. So many better choices, like a Pierce Brosnan who wore a Reverso on film (Thomas Crown) and in his personal life

They are all lovely. But it’s annoying that the (admittedly significantly cheaper) stainless steel version of the Small Seconds Tribute (monoface) is slightly thicker than the rose gold version. The SS version is still an expensive watch, so it feels like JLC punishing potential purchasers for not spending almost 3 times more on the rose gold versions.
I have the Tribute Duo Calendar in SS and love it. It isn’t my only watch - it joins my small collection of round Rolexes - but I really do like the strong rectangular shape in the wrist. Fully agree with you regarding JLC’s ambassador choices. While I Iike Lenny Kravitz, I can’t figure him for a Reverso or JLC guy…but maybe he is, I’m not sure.

Your question as to why JLC isn't as hyped as Rolex or AP is quickly answered, because you could ask the same question about VacheronConstatntin and Patek Philippe. You have already answered your question correctly with marketing and sponsorship and some examples. When it comes to pricing, most people are currently completely wrong. Luxury prices are basically never calculable, and JLC is absolute luxury. JLC's watch prices were far too low compared to other luxury brands. So if they don't increase prices by 15% every year now, then in 5 years no one will be screaming about the price increases in 2022. I'm currently trying to decide which Reverso I should buy. I just can't decide. Damn annoying.
(1) stash is 👍. (2) As others have said, JLC’s marketing is horrible. (3) JLC did themselves zero favors by raising their prices by double digit percentage last year. (4) other than the reverso or MUT, the look is pretty…mmmmehh. (5) you’re spot on w/the resale value observation.
Great historic watch maker. The Reverso is an iconic model. Love the look of the new tourbillon. Love the look of the perpetual calendar Polaris (wish it was a chronograph also). I own a Navy Seal Master Compressor titanium diver GMT chronograph which I would submit as the best daily banger in the business. Would not buy any of them new. You would lose 25-40% of its value before you made it to the car to drive home. Stache is a little too Hawaii 5-0 for my taste. Seems I woke up very opinionated this morning. Love the channel-
