    Should I post an updated video reflecting on my time in service now that I am out? Let me know and I'll make a video of what I've learned!

      True but if you're like me and needed more discipline prior to joining you may want to consider army. Also if you want to shoot things and drive things Army might be a little more fulfilling. Both are great though..

      @@KnuteFosso my daughter is entering senior year as Class President and Captain of Volleyball. She was on the fence about committing to military service with many cousins and one of her brothers in service now. However I think Top Gun:Maverick kinda pushed her over the edge. Only US Amry/Reserve, National Guard and Air Guard really make sense for her.
      This video is perfect for where her head is at because it's 100% her commitment.

    Are there different standards/requirements (for like the ASVAP, programs, etc.) between the army and air NG? I want to try to get into the medical field and train in medical because that goes more towards my preferred career and I would like to know if there are any differences in the medical field between the army and air NG

    • @KnuteFosso
      @KnuteFosso  3 роки тому

      Great question! There most likely will be some differences in the standards, since they are completely different branches. Although both components include the words "National" and "Guard" you'll often see they're actually very different in terms of enlistment, training, and mission focus.

    I’m looking to join the guard for college tuition but also feel it will be a good experience. For someone who’s main goal is to start their college job after the guard and get out, what would you say is the better option? Also which one tends to be the more active one as in getting called to the job outside of the regular weekends, or do you volunteer to go on more?

    • @KnuteFosso
      @KnuteFosso  2 роки тому +1

      Really would depend on the unit, but If I had to predict one I would say the Army Guard probably gets activated a little more, and can be a little less flexible for training. However, I miss my army days the further I get away from them, nothing like going to the range or rolling in a Stryker down the highway waving to kids!

    Great video! I am currently in the Army National Guard. After doing 6 years, I have 1 year and some months left on my contract-- and considering joining the Air National Guard. Is there a specific reason I would need to present to my Readiness NCO and Commander why I want a Condition of Release? Wouldn't it have to be for a good reason?

    Hey I’m from Washington and debating to go army or air national guard. How was the process from switching to Air Force from army?

    • @KnuteFosso
      @KnuteFosso  2 роки тому

      Hi Teresita! Sorry for the late response. Glad to see you are making the decision to join! It's a tough choice. Personally, I feel I had more fun in the army but really each to their own. I love the ANG in many ways too.
      Switching to the ANG from Army wasn't super easy, has to be approved by the TAG. You'll need to have a good reason for it, not that you just want to if you are cutting your initial enlistment short.
      In my situation, I had a full time AGR job offer from the ANG but required me to enlist into the ANG. Since the army was only offering PT work for my career, they felt the request was reasonable.

    Just the video I was looking for! But I have a question … I already have a good paying citizen job, but I’m interested in joining the guard because I do want to serve as well as helping during disasters.
    Currently, I’d be interested in being pilot or even a paratrooper, but I wouldn’t mind also learning some tech-skills (I already work in IT but learning some more wouldn’t hurt lol). But I’m worried if I join the Air National Guard, I’ll just have another office job :/ .
    Not sure if Army NG has more in-field action as opposed to Air NG. Based on my interests, what would you recommend ? Thanks !

      @@Gio-m your welcome! And you might be mad at me for recommending it when your dealing with the “suck” in the Army. But it made me tougher, more disciplined, and I have some of my best memories in those dies. Flying in several helicopters, riding in strykers down the freeway, shorting grenade launchers and machine guns, makes all the BS worth it. Optimizing for only benefits? Go AF. Optimizing for fun and experiences? Go Army.

      @KnuteFosso  Рік тому

      @@Gio-m also make sure to check with your recruiter about your unit. See if you can ask anyone in the unit what it’s like or get in contact with them. Really depends on the unit what you will be doing!! I was a 25B but did lots of other stuff besides computers. When I was, it was in the field.

    • @Gio-m

      @@KnuteFosso Haha ngl I might be thinking about your rec in those moments 😂 . Those experiences sound amazing! I really look forward more to the experiences atm but of course career progression is always something to strongly consider. I just really want to make sure that when something hits the fan in my state, I want to be there . For instance with what’s going on in Puerto Rico, I want to be on the ground or in the air helping people (that’s not my state, but I wonder if it’s possible to volunteer to units outside your state). Not sure if I’m being naive lol but that’s my biggest reason for wanting to join.
      Thanks for the info on asking about what my potential unit’s responsibilities would be. Could you ask those questions before signing up?

      I think you can’t really go wrong by enlisting for a trade. Hindsight 2020 going for my trade in the army was the best decision of my life and I still have 0 debt to this day which helps me tremendously for pursuing my business ventures. You’ll make the base pay for your rank while you are at training. Of course meals and stuff are included.
