I couldn't get past the first two episodes the first time I tried to watch. But I kept hearing how good it is and how the 1st two episodes were slower than the rest. I ended up liking it, in spiite of its darkness. Regular guys (see Bilbo and Frodo) can be heroes too. You don't need to be a Jedi. Something I appreciated in the Mandalorian was when Gtogu turned his back on Luke in favor of "family" and how Din Djarin gave up the darksaber. let Ashoka do that story. I want more Lone Wolf & Cub and 7 Samurai protecting the villagers.
P.S. I took my oldest son to see Star Wars in '77 while I was finishing up my bachelors. I'm in a generation that bought Star Wars toys for my kids but not for myself. It seems that the folks who most hate the Disney stuff collected the toys when they were children. I can see Andor being aimed at my generation. The Mandalorian brought be back to Star Wars. I only saw the original trilogy in the theaters. Only thing I don't like about prequels is that you know the main characters are safe, no matter what they do because they have to be in the original. You want them to "Go For Broke". That being said, I'd rather see a prequel for Acolyte instead of a 2nd season because all the characters I was most interested in died. Including Sol and the Coven. What was the Coven's connection to Qimir?
@togeika interesting take from an OG, I have to ask what did you find enjoyable about the prequels and I'd be interested to hear your take on the sequels (tho I imagine we share...similar opinions). I grew up watching them in numerical order and always preferred the prequels over the originals (Nostalgia is a bitch am I right lol) but when I hit my late teens (I'm 27) I payed way more attention to the story and these days I see it all as one big story.
Hi Gerald another awesome video Andor will be talked about years in the future and your videos will be listened to forever, they are exciting, interesting, informative, you put your heart and soul in your video's, sorry you have to get up so early but i am glad you do thank you for all your hard work, i am so excited about Andor coming back next year, i totally agree with you that we have waited a long time for this series it is a shame when it finishes, thank you Star Wars Fanatic
Andor is my favorite of the shows that have emerged from the house of mouse. I completely agree with everything that you have stated about Andor. It is a darker, more adult written audience that shows how the rebellion came to be and how it was financed.
Don’t you worry about how you compare to Generation Tech or any Star Wars UA-camr. Your story/cinematography analyses and your takes on Star Wars makes you unique and valuable to the fandom!
Yeah. I was 10 when Star Wars released in the 70s. Rogue One and Andor are definitely aimed at me. In contrast to Lucas’ view that Star Wars is for 12 year olds Gilroy realised that we grew up. Can’t wait for season 2.
I absolutely loved this show. I really like the darker and more realistic tone portrayed in the storyline. Characters are compelling and not just black and white. It’s not made for kids and i love that.
Thanks again for your Andor centric videos. I can’t wait for Lucasfilms Press, DelRey Press and Marvel release stories that supplement the Andor series. I want more of Luthen, Andor, Mon and Saw.
So im not gonna say that i like or dislike andor, i havent been able to finish it because for whatever reason is kinda hard for me to get into. Ill give it another chance because soooo many people loved it and i WANT to love it Ps your logo is sick
It’s grit and darkness is why it’s great. It truly was a dark time for the galaxy. Truly dark with little hope. What’s better than seeing the motivations and beginnings of the rebellion? There were few good times in the galaxy, times when the Empire or the Sith weren’t lurking in the shadows and threatening. Even in times of the New Republic the First Order was always there, always scheming. There are few times when times are good in the galaxy. If you didn’t concern yourself with Empire Remnants and/or its apologists, your time was one of ignorance and limited happiness.
The problem with Andor is that the story behind is boring, unlikeable characters all along ,especially the female leads are cringe as F, if they stick into Andor, spying in the Empire Era leading to Rogue One, could be much better, but wasted much time in storyline nobody cared , I don't care for Mon montha at all, don't care for the imperial officer at all, Andor going to jail , boring wasted time, and that's why people don't watch it, paste super slow and too much time wasted on stupid things leading nowhere, I hope they recognize this and fix it by season 2
For the sake of balance - I liked Dedra Meero a lot. I thought Mon Mothma was quite compelling as well. I really like Kleya for some reason, maybe just her beauty and poise and resemblance to Leia. I liked Vel and Cinta and thought they were interesting characters. And Maarva is a surprisingly moving character and a real scene-stealer throughout the series. Bix was only okay but that's just me, I'm sure others really liked her, and she was really good in that one scene with Dedra "are you a fish" and Dr. Gorst. I also really liked the prison arc. Thought it was amazing. To each his own, I guess. If it's any consolation, Season 2 will span 4 years over 4 mini-arcs, so I expect efficient storytelling and little time to waste on stupid things leading nowhere. One can hope. "Rebellions are built on hope."
@@thedispatcher01 I said "hoho" because I know jorge is joking If I had to choose which part of Andor was the most impactful .. I would have to choose ... EVERYTHING! Andor has rekindled my love for Star Wars, thanks Gilroy!

I feel bad for the six year old me watching Star Wars in '77 as this would be boring for me. Great that original fans are thought of.
Andor is my favorite of the shows that have emerged from the house of mouse.

Glad there will be a series 2, but I cant help but feel there are enough incredible storytelling opportunities that could perhaps fill another 2!
