@Joe thank you for covering this in the longer 10 minute plus style review. As usual you do an amazing job of going over what you loved, liked and what did not work for you. As scores and grades for games are ok, but the best reviews allow the sub an or viewer to have enough information to make their OWN minds up. For us the wife and i loved it and as it is 40$ an under on Amazon I hope more and more people buy this game so that we can send the message upgrade and remaster the old classics and we will buy them happily. My ONLY Wish from you Joe is come up with a simple digital only or physical and digital tag you can do at the start or end of your reviews so we know as for some of us (totally guilty in our case lol) we ONLY seek and buy physical media be it games an movies an shows. So yea if you could add that would be amazing :)

I have this bundled with my 2ds.. I don’t have a large amount of RPGs for that platform but the ones I have like Radiant Historia PC, FE Awakening and Stella Glow are some of the greatest games in the entire collection., I thought I’d love this one being a Suikoden fan.. It made a great first impression..
However, my pet peeve in any RPG are weird puzzle elements.. I play the genre to escape puzzles lol There are times I disregard and still push on like Tales of Symphonia but other times I guess I don’t.. Maybe I’ll give this one another try somewhere down the line..
BTW I’m impressed you’re aware of the Trails series which to me is the holy grail of classical style TB RPGs..
I try to provide a variety! And my audience is always telling me about something I haven’t tried yet!
I enjoyed it but it got really difficult for me part of the way through it. It started getting too hard when I had to begin making sure I had the right formations, and then my team wasn't putting out enough damage or sustaining enough attacks. I had no viable way to level. I grinded in the snow area for hours, and hours, and got nowhere. I began to hate the game for making me do this. I don't know what I did wrong, but I could never get past the snow area with the igloos.
That’s really frustrating! Did you try focusing on the large enemies there? I did a lot of grinding there since you could sleep in the igloos and reset the bigger enemies
@@joethealternativegamer3935 Yes, I found I could sneak up on the larger guys and take them out in a turn or so, which I did successfully many times. It just didn't seem to matter. I had heard that there was a secret party member in a den I could recruit, so I went to fetch him and was immediately and promptly game over'd every time I tried.

this makes me want the game more. i was worried that with a game with this visual style, it would be too easy and not require much thought.
Just bought it last night ps4 pro sale. So far i like it. Reminds me of saga frontier. Saga scartlett series. The combat almost same style. Saga is call glimmer . here awaken. Weapon classes same too. Jp there. Here tp. Glad i bought it. 😎

Frontier my number 1 fav in entire series. I have a huge backlog of rpgs on my ps4. Flash sale after flash sale haha. This week i bought alliance alive. Unruly heroes. Gods war future past. 😎

I have the alliance alive on my 2ds xl( only downloaded it but doesn't actually have the game if you know what I mean) I don't care if I get spoiler I only know what the final boss look like and that's it
Was enjoying the review but then had to stop the video due to spoilers. While i own the game i still haven't had the time to play it. If possible next time add a timestamp to avoid spoilers

It's a shame that Europe release never got physical.
can't you just order the u.s. version online? i ordered the european version of bloodborne goty edition because they didn't have it here for some reason. can't really tell the difference except for you guys spell armor and color funny.
I bought the Ps4 remaster and i'm really enjoying it but I think to a non-rpg fan it's pretty generic. The only thing that makes it truly stand out imo is the music. I felt a little let down by the story and the combat was just the run of the the mill typical turn based combat. It's average, but I still enjoyed it.

I tried the game, unfortunately I regret it, the game difficulty is straight up broken - 80% of the game battles are on auto x4 speed - game is far too easy and very unrewarding progression-wise since you barely need to u do it to go through the game.
Kinda agree and disagree.
I think you need to be sort of exerienced in JRPGs to make this an easy game. Doing the WD Dens early can be quite a Challenge. Also Grossa.
But, If you understand how the Game works it becomes really easy. Finished the Game with 2 Gsworsds (Galil and Shiki) a Spear, Signi Heal and frighin Vivian with the most OP Spell - Purple Rain. Final Boss fell extremely fast.
Still, there are ways to challenge yourself in NG+ or EX. So, the second playthrough was actually more fun gameplaywise.
What catched me was the characters. Really Liked the way they they interacted with each other. And I really loved Robbins. Gave me some awesome laughs.
Also, the lore is kinda cool.
So, 2 months later I want to ask to give the Game another try. Its just a nice trip.
