I love this angle of Anxiety taking over the mind and surpressing the other emotions. It feels, so accurate to how it feels as a teenager. It's still accurate to me. And the metaphor they use for bottling up emotions is brilliant. The "Sar-chasm" is hilarious. I hope we get a lot more of these metaphors.

I love how each of the 4 new emotions are like more advanced counterparts than the other four, I say other four because we got Envy for Joy, Embarrassment for Sadness, Anxiety for Fear, and Ennui for Disgust but what about Anger?
Yeah but she’s definitely the antagonist since she’s the one calling the shots that are not so helpful. Of course they’re gonna have to learn to come to terms with her later.

When I got my braces, I was just going into freshman year at high school. I was in band. Band season started before school actually even started. About a month prior, band camp we called it lol, just a bunch of drills and such to warm us up for the marching season and to start getting down our halftime marching show. I got my braces the week prior to band camp started. It would have been fine if I played a woodwind instrument, like the clarinet/sax/bassoon, but no I played the french horn/mellophone. It was torturous. I had to constantly have oragel on me so I could numb my lips when it got to bad.

I recently watched the movie and I honestly think it puts forth such a beautiful representation of all those different emotions. There's no real good or bad, just unintentional consequences.
Having braces was the worst! I even had a traumatic event happen because of them. I couldn’t chew my favorite sugarless gum for 4 years and 4 months or eat a whole apple or any other certain crunchy foods. I kept getting poked by the wires, pinched by the instruments, and would be in pain every time I got them tightened. The bar at the roof of my mouth kept scraping my tongue, get food caught in it, and would get too cold or hot depending on the foods I ate. I’d cry during every monthly appointment because I didn’t want to be there and wanted them off. It didn’t help that everyone would keep telling me to take Advil or that my mom would get annoyed about how she had to take time out of her schedule to drive me to and from my appointments (even though I didn’t even want braces in the first place). When I was in college, there was a milkshake machine in one of the on campus cafes I went to after my mom dropped me off from my appointments and just drown my sorrows in milkshakes while I was in pain for a few days. The day I got my braces was a wonderful day. My best friend even got me my favorite gum. I gladly wore my retainers every night with no problems or fights or arguing. I’d wear a retainer forever over having those torture devices in my mouth for another 4 years.

You're teeth will still be a little sore after the braces come off, but when you're better, go out and eat everything you couldn't for 2.5 years. Chew all the gum you want. Eat an apple whole. Make up for all the time spent apart. You deserve it! And trust me, the retainers are going to be the easiest. Just slip them in at night when going to bed and slip them off in the morning.
Every single word of you is so relatable it's such a nightmare! I'm glad it got so much better for you when they got out and you only had retainer. Hopefully my braces should come out this year I really hope so!
But what's curious to me is Mom's mind still only has the Core 5 emotions, that didn't get retconned. So I wonder if the new emotions are only meant to be so powerful during the teen years, which begs the question of what happens after that? What happened to Mom's anxiety and embarrassment and boredom, surely she still has those somewhere.
As you get older, you control them more easily so the extra ones aren't in control anymore and the main ones (5) are back taking over. Of course, this is for healthy adults 😅
Love this. To be fair anxiety has a point. Emotions are complex and everyone deserves to feel and be able to express more emotions. This was also an issue we see in the first movie with joy trying to suppress sadness. Anxiety's approach is both an understandable idea not wanting just one emotion or a group to come through and the freedom to feel these more complex emotions and counterproductive cause while anxiety is letting them as newer complex emotions come through theyve suppressed other emotions. Despite their intentions. (Also can someone tell me how old riley is supposed to be???

1:26 I was gonna get braces at 13 but I didn’t because I had the perfect bite like when you bite down, your bottom jaw is supposed to be behind the top jaw and that was the case with me so I was probably the only teenager without braces but my sister had braces after a friend of hers knocked her teeth out so I can imagine the struggles.

I luckily never had to get braces, my mom refused to let them put any on me. Though I can understand not being able to eat, I got a tooth pulled recently and only yesterday was I able to start eat soild food soft food but its better than only being aloud to have liquids for nearly 3 days
@@enadegheeghaghe6369 Soul is defitively good, but both elemental and encanto are very divisive, the lack of villains or even an antagonist wich added A LOT of spark to old projects and the classic message that has been repeated constantly definitively puts this movies in the "not bad, but not also very good or memorable".
Heard a theory that envy may end up being the bigger villain compared to anxiety (Riley wants to be popular, a goal closely associated with being envious). Which Anxiety will come to regret the actions she's made And I can see it, especially compared to other emotions, envy "grows". Which would be a nice play off to how she starts off as a small child.
For 3 years I probably spend wearing the braces and I did need them, because my jaw is not allined and my top teeths are bend forward. So since I did not care so much I did not wear them and now regret not doing that.
I can't wait to see this, I loved the first Inside Out. Although, watching the trailer did bring back memories of high school that I hoped to never remember again. I am curious, since we are seeing braces and acne, do you think we might at least get a metaphor for other things that females go through when teenagers (if you know, you know) And yeah, I had braces throughout high school, along with half of my class, so I thankfully wasn't alone. I almost had my adult teeth but they were growing in behind my baby teeth. So, I got 11 baby teeth pulled and a week later I was in braces. I remember not being able eat some of my favourite foods, the wires poking the inside of my mouth, trying to clean the teeth behind the braces and the ulcers. And let's not get started on the acne I had.

I say envy is the opposite for digits and annui is for fear. Sadness and joy kinda combine to be the opposite of anxiety
They're more like opposite counterparts
