    The big thing I have noticed is Jaylen improvement. I love JB but he had a tendency to be a ball stopper. His passing has really improved and he and KP have great chemistry on the court.

    • @nicholaspeck4155
      @nicholaspeck4155 4 місяці тому +5

      thats narrative not reality. JB may take over for 4-6 straight possessions about once a game typically, but in those instances, he acts quickly, usually attacking and collapsing the D. his vision and willingness to pass out of that collapse is for sure a big improvement, but hes never been a ball stopper, thats Tatum. its noteable too that tpyically when JB has those take-over attempts, its when momentum is against the Cs and no1 else is bringing energy and hes trying to turn the tide. Tatum is just the opposite, in the midst of a huge run, with all the momentum in our favor, Tatum decides to start playing Tatum ball. He isos rather than attacks, he dribbles out the clock rather than act quickly, he takes contested, side-step threes instead of driving to the hole. he only passes out of double and triples (and thank goodness for that at least), but teams would likely have greater success if they stopped sending those doubles and just let Tatum shoot the Cs out of it (which will happen more often than not). also, selfishness is a top down team ailment. Tatums refusal (by action) to sacrifice his numbers for the better of the team infected the guys beneath him with their own selfishness and prevented us from having at least 1 Jays era banner already in the rafters. Thanks Kobe and Kyrie. point remains, tho im sure JB has been guilty at times and maybe even for stretches, its far from a hallmark or even noteable characteristic of his game and ascension to superstardom. he just gets lumped into it with Tatum cuz thats the only way the media and fans will critique JT, by saying "the Jays" rather than just JT.

  • @Amm17ar
    @Amm17ar 4 місяці тому +34

    Derrick Whites been so damn good. I would love if he made the All-Star team because he deserves it so much. The impact hes made, for the price they paid for him is insane value. The guys averaging 17 on a team with Jaylen Brown, KP and Jayson Tatum.... They still need some reliable big depth, I still have a huge problem with relying on a 38 year old Al Horford for 20-30 minutes a night, and an injury prone KP (despite as good as hes been, its always a worry). Jrue has been a bit disappointing scoring-wise this season, hes had a lot of bad shooting nights, but his defense is always there to justify a spot on the court. Payton Pritchard has gotten so damn good off the bench. I knew he was capable of it, but his defense has been a lot better, hes been a pest and his efficiency and the shots he does get are really good. His play making has improved a lot too, kinda reminds me of a White Chocolate lite in terms of playmaking. Theyve built the team the right way. Over the next 6 years, they have 4 of their own first round picks, they have a bunch of seconds. They dont have tradable contracts, I hope Payton isnt the odd man out and gets traded, but I think they could get a reliable off-the bench centre with the picks they have. I dont think the contracts would ever match up, but Vucevic looks like a perfect option, maybe Drummond even? I dont know who the solution is, but I know theyll probably find someone for a good price. That said, they absolutely cannot go into the post-season without adding a big.

    • @docdollaz8313
      @docdollaz8313 4 місяці тому +1

      I'm with you on most of this. I don't agree about the Jrue comment. He's running the point, so scoring isn't supposed to be his go to. Point guards are supposed to set his team up to score. Scoring is a point guards second option, only if it's available to him. His assist numbers are up, which is what he's there for. Averaging plus 10 with 6.4 assists/game is actually excellent play from the 1 guard spot.
      BTW....make sure you put in your vote for D. White. They pick All-Stars by fan vote. They already started and have Giannis in the lead. Look up the ballot and put yours in so we can get our boy up to All-Star level. He definitely deserves it. Only thing I worry about is the fact he's going to command more money once it happens, and cap space isn't great anymore after the J.B. contract. They may have to give one of them up next season, which if we win a championship, will kind of spoil the chances for a repeat.

    • @Amm17ar
      @Amm17ar 4 місяці тому

      @@docdollaz8313 Yeah I see where youre coming from. The only thing Id say is your view on Point guards is a bit dated. They arent there to set up others anymore. A lot of the best scorers in the league are at the point. That said, on a team with Tatum, Brown, KP and White its understandable that Jrues scoring has gone down. But he has had some bad games where I cant see a game where Derrick White had a bad game so far. Even on the days where he didnt score as much, it was still mostly efficient scoring and he played great defense. Im not saying Jrue is bad or I dont value him, I just think Whites more important to what Bostons doing right now.

He had one bad series in the finals and suddenly him leading the comeback against the Bucks down 3-2, his heroics in last years Sixers series, the fact that we probably beat the Heat last year if he doesn’t sprain his ankle on the first play, and all of his other playoff runs show that the majority of the time he gets even better in those big moments.

      @wesleyprince3465 4 місяці тому +1

      Yeah that rhetoric is a fkn joke mostly parroted by haters and casuals or people looking for click bait talking points. I will agree that he's gotta be better than he has against Miami come playoff time, it's ridiculous that a simple zone defense gets in his head so much (gonna be different now that we got an actual 3rd option) but still......ask Philly and Milwaukee fans if they agree that Tatum doesn't show up😂😂😂
      Dropping 40 in a must win game 6 against the defending champs at their home court to force a game 7 isnt something that someone who "doesn't show up" does.
      Dropping 50 in a game 7 against the MVP and a division rival to send them home isn't something that someone who "doesn't show up" does.
      What's even more head scratching is that his finals numbers weren't even THAT awful when compared to some of the stinkers that some all time greats have put up on the big stage. Bron had a finals series worse than that, Kobe had TWO finals series worse than that. You could argue Curry was below his standards in just about all his appearances except the one against Boston. Not even mentioning the fact that he's still younger than MJ, Bron, Curry or Shaq-less Kobe when they got their first ring(s). I have to remind even myself sometimes that JT and JB for that matter are both still not even to the half way point of their careers, it feels weird to say cuz they've had more playoff success since they've been in the league than about 26 whole other organizations have in that same time frame, but it's the truth🤷‍♂️
      Honestly it's just cuz the media and non-Celtics fans hate Boston. If Tatum had done all he's done up to this point in his career in a Spurs or Heat jersey he'd be getting glazed around the clock.

White and tatum run yet another type of two man game. No defense is deep enough. Porblem is the celtics can be out coached. He is slow to adjust. He is better but still kinda bad about killing other teams momentum with time outs and subs. In 7 games against a well coached team the celtics are going to be in an up hill battle.

    I like alll the points you made but your videos could be more compelling if you can breakdown footage to enhance your points.
    You mentioned how Portzingis helped them with spacing and defense but there's not enough analysis on what that means in the context of the team.
    You also say how they make questionable decisions but end up winning games, but in what ways?
    Also on the Derick White's contribution, is there any data to support your claim? How has his arrival improved their stats or ratings?
    Against certain matchups, you say how other teams struggle, but how are the Celtics different? is there a certain area they excel, what about defense?

      The game was very good but you gotta factor in the supreme lack of playoff experience, it being a regular season game at OKC, and the Celtics have been pacing their team the whole season to try and stay as healthy as possible for the playoffs. Every time a guy has a minor injury in a game they get the next game or 2 off and they still almost always win. I also strongly believe the best is yet to come from Jrue. He’s being asked to sacrifice the most of the starting 5 and is playing a different style of offense and defense than he’s ever played. He’s gone from being the primary ball handler and defending the best opposing guard to playing off the ball and guarding a different position each night. Hell when they run their zone they do a 2-1-2 with him as the 1 and he covers every cutter. It’s wild to watch all the switching and how well it works when teams try and run pick and rolls and can’t figure out that he’ll end up on the guard lol
