WOW - GREAT video and content - thank you for taking the time to put this together! 👍 I have the same year and ski - I too got the 'low fuel warning' early in the summer and eventually couldn't shut it off. Went directly to the dock, gassed up and it took an additional 6.8 gal...meaning I had burned through roughly 11.7 gal before the low fuel warning came on. HOWEVER, your video test really brought the range into perspective. Well done! ❤
Thanks for making this video. Knowing when the alarm goes off in terms of remaining fuel is very handy info. FYI I have a near new '23 FXHO and had to have the Connex screen replaced 2 weeks ago as it was intermittent from new. After replacement ( a 15 min job) the screen has been perfect and very unexpected was that the fuel consumption reset issue has gone away! So there has been an update release of the screen unit it seems. As an offshore fisherman, I need to always know how much fuel I have. So I am a happier owner. I just hope for a fix to be able to mute the silly low fuel alarm while riding like my previous FXHO could!
My 2022 FXHO has just had the new software update and it’s dealt with both the “too soon” low fuel alarm and it now retains fuel consumption Dara notwithstanding the ski having been turned off during the day.
Great content & information. Very frustrating to hear & see this happening on a great product Yamaha has produced. From what I know & can tell while having the opportunity to ride the new 2024 the data isn’t being cleared after start & stopping the waverunner. Thanks again for sharing! Billy D
My 24 GP HO holds the trip info until I reset it. Beeps at low fuel at 10.5-11 gallons used but I can silence the alarm in motion. Just removed the check valve hoping to get another 2 gallons in the tank on my next fuel. With the check valve in I couldn't get the tank to fill more than 1" below the top radius of the tank without spending forever at the pump. I hit 14.2 gallons used without running out I'm hoping I'll have a low fuel alarm that beeps closer to 13 gallons used and over 16 usable with no reserve. Getting over 6 mpg while cruising at 40, and averaging 5.4 with some WOT time in there.
Nice Job and just to add, my 2022 FX HO low fuel light comes on with 8 gals of gas left. Way too early IMO. Though for reference the annoying low fuel alarm is easily disconnected. The trip meter resetting is really the one software update I wish Yamaha would correct for taking long trips and keeping track of fuel usage. As noted above, most boat fuel gauges are not accurate.
Yamaha just released a software update that stops the Fuel Used data from resetting on power off and supposedly increases the runtime before the fuel alarm goes off, check with your dealer
Love my 2022 FXHO. Had a VXR previously. However, the low fuel alarm is an issue that needs to be addressed. As an example, my low fuel alarm was going off as I was returning to the dock. I got to the pumps and was showing no bars on the gas guage. I filled up adding 12 gallons. With an 18.5 gallon tank, I still had 6.5 gallons in it. Not sure why this is so hard for Yamaha to figure out. My 2017 VXR was on point with the gas level.
I went down this rabbit hole with my 2022 SVHO and ultimately yamaha dealer said it was operating correctly by design. So I guess they really don't want you to run out of gas while out or something
@@FirstMrNick From what I've gathered, Yamaha was sued because some dumbass ran out of gas. So they set the low gas alarm higher. Don't tell me I'm low on gas, ruin my day, when I still have 6 hrs of riding with the gas I had. With my 2017, if the alarm went off, I knew I was low. Now it goes off, I have enough gas for the day, or do I
These “known issues” are exactly why I did not purchase a new FX waverunner. It is my understanding that these problems will not be addressed until a new Connext system is introduced. Imo shameful behaviour on the part of Yamaha Corp.
Understandable. All skis have pros and cons. Yamaha WaveRunners are awesome machines and very reliable, however these couple issues can be annoying to deal with.
Just had the software update on my 22 & 23 waverunners. Took 25 mins, fuel gauge is way more accurate now and they obviously did not charge for the update
The Yamaha software update wasn’t available at that time so every time we turn off the ski during this trip the mpg reset to zero. Therefore that data wasn’t calculated for this video.
As seen on The Watercraft Journal:

This was extremely well done! Thank you for the thoroughness!

Yep, I think we’re all in the same boat (ski)!
Thank you for the video I’m looking to purchase a ski for Neptune and LBF poker runs
No problem 👍

Good! That’s the news everyone wants to hear.
Is there a way to know if you have the update? I just purchased a 2023 fx ho new but I'm not sure if it's updated

Excellent production, thanks! Let's wait for the new 1.9l 2024 engine.
Thanks!
Awesome video and good to know 👍🏽
Thanks for watching!

Yep! Only issue for disconnecting the alarm is that it will no longer work for other issues such as overheating.

Great video! I would love to see how far a supercharged ski would go...
Great suggestion!
PLEASE do this AFTER having the Software update done and show the difference!

Definitely an issue that needs attention from Yamaha. Otherwise, great skis!

Good info. What app did you use for the map data at the end?
The app is called “GPS Track” made by DM Software Solutions. Worked perfect for what we needed.
Good old Mini Las Vegas.
The fuel system for both Filling and gauges are complete garbage on these otherwise awesome skis.
So why the Yamaha vs seas doo vs Kawasaki?
Great video but I wouldn’t let any engine run out of fuel, as it gets the fuel pump too hot and may burn out the fuel pump.

Never run a machine out of gas.. it picks up all the crud floating around in the tank.
almost 100 miles to a tank is good for that eng.
the fuel mileage on these things sounds as bad as my pontoon boat!
