    Lindy Fralin is the epitome of the small-shop music craftsman. In the early 90's, he got into making pickups because he couldn't find anything on the market that sounded quite right. Fralin Pickups now have a reputation as some of the most musical and precise pickups on the market. The Blues Special set is one of their most popular S-style configurations. Wound with 42 gauge wire, these pickups have a vintage flavored sound with a touch more beef in the mid-range and no piercing high-end. They're thick enough for single-note soloing, but not so thick that the low end globs up and loses clarity. They do a great job of showcasing the natural sound of your guitar rather than dominating your tone with their own flavor, allowing your technique and style to shine through. A great set of pickups that'll turn an average guitar into an outstanding guitar.

    Got a brand new strat plus in 1996. Immediately swapped out the lace sensor for a set Fralin Blues Specials. Been McLovin’ em every since. No regrets.

    Good choice for Blues on the pickups. Not such a great choice of amplifier however. Sticking with Fender; either the super reverb or the good old Deluxe Reverb would have been winners. Out of Fender I've recently become a believer again in the Peavey Delta Blues

      I have this Set of pickups sorry to say in the most polite way.
      This pickups does not have deep bass response. It has tight bass response and doesn't have thick sound.

    • @It_is_now
      @It_is_now 7 років тому

      If you have ever played CBS strat (some good) or Pre CBS Strat you will know the sound. It will have deep low when pick on sixth strings. Some Master built strat has it but only some

    • @Sirstarfish
      @Sirstarfish 7 років тому +1

      Oh i got you dude. Just watched your video too, nice work. Do you have any recommendations for a thick sound? I'm currently looking at a set of Bareknuckle Irish Tours. A thick-bluesy Rory Gallagher sound yet still with similar clarity in the mids of the early 50's alnico 3 pups. Peace

    • @It_is_now
      @It_is_now 7 років тому

      First I think you have to have a real reference sound from old strat. Boutiques pickups are good but will not give vintage strat sound even with lollar. If you have high budget, you can go with Seymour duncan Customshop and tell them that you want deep thick big low low sound from strat (low frequency seems to be deep and blurry) . Lindy Fralin is good if you do recording, tight bass response Close to mid frequencies. every boutique pick ups really are expensive so be wise. Today I played 1975 strat with texas special in it compare to masterbuilt John Cruz Strat and they have similar timbre in low frequencies. Thats very important. Low low frequencies will make guitar sound big in 3 piece band.

      For what a a paper bobbin and 2 dollars worth of magnets and 8 feet of wire and 20 cents of wax. 300 is pocket money but lets not be stupid !

      True and yes I don't like Fender ether. You know I was thinking if I built my Dream Guitar money would be no object ! So I guess you are RIGHT. I probably would spend what ever it was for my guitar that is in my minds eye.
      I would need about 3000 to 4000 grand to do it . With the custom paint and all !

      Right On ! I've been looking of what I want to build for myself. I build for everyone else Client's and of course my son ( My Son's seem to be always free ) . Not sure what I want to build for myself. I've done teles strats kind of looking for something different. Something slim and fast.
