    Great to see ya smiling Ben, I have PTSD Depression & anxiety but not from my career, sadly I suffered trauma, but I used to be in the Fire Service and remember seeing the video about the job that broke you. We see so much trauma that it has to go somewhere, your analagy is spot on. So in short I'm proud of you for all you've achieved so far and wish you all the best for the future. Stay strong mate.

    I work for the Ambulance Service as my "paid day job" but also volunteer as a Special Inspector under the Special Constabulary. Both jobs tie in lovely. There has been so many times where I have been on shift as a Police Officer and then had to put my medical head on to assist.

    I was under the impression the "victim surcharge" is just a pot of money everyone has to pay into which is then distributed when compensation is issued for very specific things

    Here’s a question: what is the reason modern police vehicles most of the time now no longer use roof codes? Is it because the system has become more advanced? Is it no longer necessary? I’m just wondering as we see less vehicles with roof codes these days.

  • @slef2003

    You answered the question about the victim surcharge wrongly. Your answer covered costs ! The victim surcharge is supposed to cover the costs of providing victim services and not the running of courts. magistrates HAVE to make a victim surcharge even if there are no victims identified and it is not related to peoples ability to pay.

  • @123Lesgeorg
    @123Lesgeorg 2 місяці тому +1

    The term Victim Surcharge should be renamed as Court Costs, as the actual Victims of Crime never get anything from the Courts for what they have been through.

    • @Doughman888
      @Doughman888 Місяць тому

      The surcharge goes to the Victims and Witnesses budget, supports local victims services as directed by elected Police and Crime Commissioners and directly fuds the 94 national rape support centers. It's not for general court costs. Courts can also make compensation orders which are paid to the victim directly.

    How common is it to see police vehicles from outside the force area (say met police in West Yorkshire?) Is it like America where cops are territorial about their jurisdiction?

    If a police vehicle was intentionally damaged by someone fleeing or damaged by you performing a PIT or TPAC, does the arrested party get charged for the cost of the repair?

    I have PTSD from my service and at times every day is a struggle
    I now work for the nhs as a community mental health support worker
    Best advice I can give is you have to re invent yourself and carry on BUT still be very proud of what you have done and the positive affects youve had on so many peoples lives

    What do PCSOs do? I've read the wikipedia article, but their list of duties seems less than exhaustive. Do their duties fall within the scope of policing you detailed in the last question -- the detection, prevention and investigation of crime; preservation and protection of life?

    Your opinion on the private security industry SIA I’m a door supervisor licence holder and got my CCTV licence. Did you ever work with any SIA trained security who held community safety recognition scheme? If so what’s your opinion on that side of things. One last question opinion on sia security carrying handcuffs as we are just civilians with no more power than civilians

    • @tomalex4806
      @tomalex4806 2 місяці тому

      I've worked in the industry and never had to carry handcuffs, if you're using handcuffs correctly and legally and have had the training then I don't see the issue. In our industry we deal with vile people. Any Tom dick or harry can carry and use handcuffs you just have to use them in the right way

    Can you use your mobile phone while safely parked WITH the engine running?

    • @bentaylor6995
      @bentaylor6995 Місяць тому

      The law in the UK regarding using your mobile phone while driving is clear you cannot hold your phone in your hand while the engine is running even if you are safely parked the law refers to "driving" which is not limited to being in motion as long as the engine is on you are considered to be in control of the vehicle and using a handheld device is illegal
