Yessss, either bring it back or bug PBS to claim full ownership of the channel and revive PBS Kids Sprout, but not reboot it, keep it simple and appealing to older generations who watched PBS Kids Sprout, like keep that 2000s Gen Z Picture book feel, fuck Gen Alpha's opinion about it, because all they care about is that stupid a$$ Cocomelon(the worst thing that could ever be made, because it's too saturated, the animation is fuckin boring and cringe, and encourages children to be brats, and my kids will never watch it, because I will raise them on the shows from mine and my friends' generation), they don't have to watch it, because it's not for them, it's for us, it's our beloved channel!
I love sprout but now I am sad that is gone I want sprout back some of my friends said they hate universal kids they are to boring I love sprout very very much
@Medora: One of the smarter ways that Sprout could have remained on to this day and remain just as decent as it was back when that channel was new would have been to be 50% owned by PBS and 50% owned by NBCUniversal rather than NBCUniverasal having full control of the brand. Also, Universal Kids should have been launched as a separate channel instead of taking over Sprout's former channel space.
@Medora: One major reason why I feel that Sprout should have remained to this day and be 50% owned by PBS and 50% owned by NBCUniversal rather than NBCUniversal taking full control of the brand (which would have then resulted in Universal Kids being launched as a separate channel rather than taking over Sprout’s former channel space) is because back when Sprout was just starting out and was thus owned as a partnership between PBS (hence the “PBS Kids” part of name), HIT Entertainment, Comcast (who later acquired NBCUniversal), and SesameWorkshop, many of the bumpers at the time (specifically the On Demand bumpers from 2005-2009) would have quick voice overs saying “PBS Kids Sprout: Presented in partnership with your PBS station”, proving that PBS possibly received majority credit for the channel’s existence. After all, based on how the channel all started, PBS was likely the one to lead the partnership all this time. Here’s a link to many of these bumpers as proof of my claim. (this upload isn’t mine by the way): ua-cam.com/video/VqqrMrfOr2w/v-deo.html Based on my personal opinion, another one of the smarter ways that Sprout could have remained on to this day and remain just as decent as it was back when that channel was new would have been for PBS to gain full control of Sprout instead of NBCUniversal. To put it in short, Sprout’s ownership should have been like this in order for the channel to remain just as decent as it was back when the channel was starting out. *OPTION #1:* Sprout being conjointly controlled by PBS and NBCUniversal, with each company having a 50% share. *OPTION #2:* PBS gaining 100% full control of Sprout instead of NBCUniversal. ------------------------------------------------------------ By the way, to kinda correct you, when you said that Apax Partners sold HIT Entertainment to NBCUniversal, you’re actually incorrect. I had the same thought when they changed the channel. I wasn't the target audience when they changed it but my little siblings were. I still sat and watched it with them
I grew up with sprout because my mom switched back and forth between cable and no cable. so that means I grew up with nick jr, Disney junior, qubo, sprout, baby first and the list goes on. I faintly remember running downstairs on Saturday mornings to watch The clangers and George and Martha when we were probably gonna go to the park.
I still remember the final countdown to universal kids, and the second I got a glimpse of universal kids, I was like “Yeah, this ain’t for me.” And dipped. I still tune in from time to time, but I will never forget the glorious sprout.
I have no recollection of sprout, but my parents confirmed that I used to watch it. Some of these shows were already airing on PBS Kids and one day I just stopped going on Sprout and just watched normal PBS Kids, maybe it was taken off of our cable package. I feel like if I seen more of these shows I would have loved them, Sunny Side Up would have been a core memory if I seen it at somwhat later age, possibly at 5. Now when I look at it, I don't think I was missing all too much, although I guess my life could have used the Good Night Show, I bet I would have loved that too. And what I mean not missing much, most of the shows were import shows and they were kind of just whatever.
I feel as if Universal Kids failed because it could never grow independently from the Sprout brand. Despite the relaunch, NBCUniversal continued to put the channel’s preschool content as top priority instead of its main demographic of 2-12 year olds. It got to the point where actual Universal Kids series aired for only 9 hours, basically making it a children’s version of Adult Swim.
@@VicViperRebirth true but I don’t think so, i watched universal kids while I was on vacation with my little brothers and it was horrible and just old shows that nobody watches and had none of the charm sprout had

Sprout was perfect for stay at home parents and used by baby sitters to help not only keep the young ones entertained but also helped in education. At night, I'd let my kids watch the goodnight show. I remember in 2013, there was a time where lullabye music would play for half hour. It really helped and the animation was normally underwater themed and very calming. Thousands of parents, including me, signed a petition to get things turned around, to say, Hey! You're gonna regret this change! This is the ONLY channel for toddlers and preschoolers and always had age appropriate commercials. My todddler was just becoming a preschooler when they shut down Sprout. It broke my heart to not have those shows at all, to not have any educational preschool aged shows anymore! Those shows did good for my older son in learning and it was great when we were able to use their Sprout Online too. We could send in a form to give them a heads up of when our kids birthday would be and they'd give shout outs to kids on their birthdays in the morning. No preschool shows ever did that and it made kids happy. That joy and happiness was taken away when Sprout ended. Even the employees who worked on those shows were heart broken too. PBS has really gone down the hole in the last 10yrs. Greed has become more controlling over them, as it really showed when they sold Sprout. 😞
I think if they returned the sprout format (Including the Sunny side up show/Nina and Star Segments) i would probably rewatch it like I did back then, Heck! They could just give the puppet characters a makeover and maybe hire some new actors for the humans..I would be down to play either of them. Changing its name to universal sprout would also be a good start to rebranding the channel back to its original setting.
Noggin and Sprout were the main channels I watched as a little kid. Usually I would watch Noggin during the day, and then Sprout in the evening (but sometimes I switched it up a bit or I watched it on On Demand).
Wow! Just, wow! I grew up with PBS Kids Sprout when it launched, though I was about to be a pre-teen. I first assumed that Universal Kids was a new separate channel and that Sprout went off the air earlier. After watching this video, I’m devastated by the history of this channel.

I remember watching Sprout as a kid, I mostly watched Barney because it had more episodes than PBS. They usually show Barney around 3am. That's how I remember it.
I remember everyday on sprout, chica would call out somebody's birthday. My parents would call over and over, and we would never EVER get called. It was actually kinda funny because I would stare intensely with anticipation, on my birthday, then I would be IMMENSELY disappointed. To me, I think the channel’s fall during the Universal Kids era was due to a lack of identity and personality. Basically, Nickelodeon has shows like Spongebob and Loud House, and Cartoon Network has shows like Teen Titans Go and Gumball, but what does Universal Kids have that they can call their own? Not to mention the fact that their bumpers don’t create a stable characteristic, however they have improved the bumpers from their early days in 2017 when it was nothing but a white background. I suggest they try to bring back the old format of merging the shows together over a live segment, similar to what Sprout did with the Sunny Side Up Show and The Good Night Show. Maybe the Preschool segment in the morning (last time I checked, I think it was called Olive’s house or something), and maybe a night segment called the Universal Kids All-Nighter. The reasons I want these to be live is because of the interactivity that you can do, like vote what challenges you want to see be done, or those live birthday songs Sprout used to do. That’s just my idea. :)

my parents used to sit with me and watch sprout and I will never get that back :(
They still say don't go away today on universal kids but it's not good enough
I loved ruff ruff tweet and Dave before when I was 3, 2, or 4
It’s really sad that sprout was rebranded to universal kids and made shows I never enjoyed and the shows I enjoyed on sprout was a huge part of my childhood
Medora: This new channel, however, would be aimed at children ages 3-4 or younger.
Top Chef Junior: all around me are familiar faces
Top Chef Junior didn't come to the network until the Universal Kids era.
I don't get it!

SPROUT OPENED MY BIRTHDAY CARD
Wut?
Every day or so, the channel would say happy birthday to kids who sent a card to the website.
@@rockynoutyt6132 Oh cool. That's kinda like how Noggin would mention people's birthdays between shows sometimes back in 2000/2001.
@@medora2499 The translation: Fury? 💀
So I bet Universal Kids (formerly PBS Kids Sprout) is the second channel on TV that Sesame Workshop was one of the founders (the first channel was Noggin).
