AF pilots are the best of the best it is very difficult to get your wings. Impressed yes, but not shocked (get it? because they make shock waves hah). Compared to the complex maneuvers and following they do, this is relatively easy.

I saw that a lot years ago in santiago de chile
A military aircraft break the sound barrier I remember the second of this , the image of the aircraft do 3 or 4 haloes but with distorsion and a big sound like a explotion
    I still remembering that .

I never realized that circle is the Sun! its so far away light travels parallel! like a mirror in other setups.

How did you get the aircraft to line up correctly for the test and again at a lower altitude?

Math probably. AF pilots have very fancy radar and navigation equipment i don't think he could blindly do this on the first try since the sun was not directly overhead. It is pretty simple trigonometry which i assume is pre-calculated and routed.

I wish that Congress would direct more funding towards science and research, like NASA, by redirecting even a small (2% - 4%) portion of our yearly defense spending. Our defense spending is ridiculous, and it almost got a full year's budget locked-in with that hideous tax reform plan the Senate just sent back to the House. Good luck to science and research folks. Finding truth and fact are historically low priorities in this current (debacle of an) administration. Thankfully we still have very smart people, like this BOSCO research team, who help maintain a sliver of faith that humanity's future will get brighter.

Woah, you can even see air moving backwards as it basses around airplane between shocks.
