I work in a museum and we have 3 serpents in our collection. They do not work anymore, unfortunately...This is just great to hear how that instrument needs to sound, amazing!
There are some people making the serpent to a fool's instrument. Thanx that at least you know how to blow this amazing "snake". Greetings from Salzburg, Thomas M. Schallaböck
Agreed! I would love to be able to buy an entire CD of early baroque pieces performed by Patrick Wibart on the serpent, but as far as I know, there isn't one available :-( He does have a CD devoted to works performed on ophicleide that may interest you, but I haven't purchased it myself since I don't particularly care for the timbre of the ophicleide or its repertoire. I'm sure it's equally amazing, though if you like ophicleide!
The early Baroque is so expressive and so under appreciated. Thanks for this beautiful upload.
Ancestor of tubas, euphoniums, baritones, tenor horns, etc. :)
This is incredible serpent playing. I wish more attention was paid to this beautiful instrument in the early music world.
Amazing! Such a beautiful timbre. I play brass instruments and I would love to try and play one. Thank you for posting 😊

WOWOWOW!!!! Do you have a cd? the best serpent playing I have heard
Fantastic! Very expressive! Similar question to that in the previous post - is there a recording of this anywhere available on cd to purchase?
The recording on wikipedia of this instrument makes it sound terrible, but this sounds so awesome!
magnifique. rappelle le cornet à bouquin son petit frère
Is this played on a keyed Serpent or just a 6 hole version?
is there a place to buy your music? This is amazing

The serpent "novelty".....
disappointing that you only see a drawing of the serpent. One would have hoped to see IT PLAYED.
