what about a link for the game? Looking all over Google for it and can't find it! You used it for your content, maybe link it!
@@creatorsubscriptions7821 look at my comment you replied to, ***article with DL link.. its at the bottom of that page.
this is awesome glad someone picked up the reigns at least for one game
Can I play this via my
Steam deck?
@@scribe8630 Yes, it is steam deck compatible!
Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest was my first intro into the Castlevania universe and I loved it. I beat it again about a year ago through the Anniversary Collection and with the help of online maps. While I loved the other Castlevania games with linear level designs, this one always has a special place in my heart. I think that's why I loved Symphony Of The Night so much too because of the Metroidvania style game play. I love that this one improves on the classic game but has similar visuals and enemies from SOTN and Rondo Of Blood. I'm definitely looking forward to playing this tonight!
I remember when i was about 8 years old, my brother had a friend who stayed over and would bring his NES with him. This is one of the games i remember us staying up late playing, and joking about certain things in the game. It made me afraid to be out in the yard at night because i kept thinking about hands coming up from the ground and grabbing my leg.
Of course, i was also staying up late watching Tales From the Crypt and Monsters. The 80s were very memorable to grow up in, like i remember trying my best to get through metal gear. Hating the water level in TMNT. Kids these days don't understand what nostalgia really is.
This was my first Castlevania, too! Confused the hell out of me as a kid. I did the tornado warp once by accident and I've still memories of how I reacted to it.
Just FYI, before fighting Frankenstein in the 3rd mansion, go to town to the far west and get the Morningstar. If you don't and you just use the chain whip, you will likely die many times. I almost quit playing because I was so frustrated. Now am playing through the game again and I can confirm that using the Morningstar makes him way easier. Every other boss in the game is manageable but him unless you have the Morningstar.
Me too my parents bought us Simon's Quest for nes without us playing the first game and I loved it. The atmosphere and exploration. I didn't have Zelda so that was my Zelda. Luckily I had some Nintendo guidebooks that showed how to beat some of those weird puzzles.
@4:22 "You now PROCESS Dracula's rib" 😆
Most forget this, but Castlevania II was one of the first games to have multiple endings depending how fast you beat the game...you know Metroid style. Also how could you NOT mention the best Castlevania song ever "Bloody Tears" which has been remix so many times. Still love this game, and can't wait to try remake.
Yeah a lot of fans think SOTN was the first Metroidvania type game, but SImon's Quest actually did it first.
@@jeffjackson9679 actually I believe someone said that first Metroidvania jet set willy. Personally I believe it was dragon slayer arpg game, the prequel to legacy of the wizard cause you actually had to find power-ups to advance in some areas.
Bloody Tears is from the arcade game originally. It was simply reused in 2.
best? nah invitation of a crazed moon, battle of the holy, cross your heart, stream and tower of dolls, are way better just to name a few, at least in my opinion. i respect why you'd personally prefer bloody tears though
@@genyakozlov1316 sorry I missed your reply. Actually I believe the jp Famicom disk released before haunted castle did. Either way, that game was hard as balls, and the track didn't appear till in later stage, so most might not heard it. For Simon's Quest...right after you leave the first town...Still most fans said the remix from rando of blood is the best....I don't.
I think that Zelda 2 should also get this treatment because the idea behind Zelda 2 is basically just The opposite of blaster master.
Zelda 2 is all the levels are platformers but the overworld is top down blaster Master the overworld is platformer but the levels are top down.
I fully agree.
I would love to play a good remake of Zelda 2!
I could definitely get behind that!
There's already a PC fan-remaster of Zelda 2 with a lot of new content. It looks very good.
I just finished Castlevania II on my Switch last week. I'll be checking it out. I love this game, loved it as a kid back in the day. I like how they kept the same mistranslated dialog. See @4:18, "You now process Dracula's Rib"
They made it a DIFFERENT typo. I don't know how to feel about it now!
Prosess the rib like a boss. Leave casual possession to the other guys.
Simon is a vampire-butcher in this one
My aunt and I played this game a lot when I was a kid. It was a huge accomplishment beating it.
I remember getting to an ending the first time using a strategy guide to get through it all. It was one of the first games I did beat all the way.
Simon's Quest is my favorite NES Castlevania still to this day. I bought this game for $6.99 from our local videogame store 'Gamers' in the early 90's. Still have the sticker on it! Looking forward to playing this!!
It’s was definitely crack rock cocaine when it came out!!!
@@mg659er I’m definetly downloading this game tomorrow morning before Konami decides to act like they care about Castlevania games again! Lol definitely agree with you!
You in the midwest???... I bought most of my rare games or import from Gamers here in Omaha, NE over the years... They went downhill... But back in the day, they were clutch in getting me what I wanted ..
@@Beavernator I'm from AZ! Gamers was super clutch growing up. It was our 'go-to' for videogame rentals. We chose Gamers all day over Blockbuster or Hollywood Video. They eventually went downhill too sadly.
@ThunderSteve85 this is also my favorite NES Castlevania and my first intro to the series as a kid.
I have no problem with the original game, it's my favorite game in the series. But this game looks really cool. Just wish they could have kept Simon's armor, which I always loved.
yeah, this armor looks really gross
As much flak as this game gets, there would be no Symphony of the Night without this game.
Exactly, my friend. This game was the first to introduce any type of RPG elements. This is my favorite game in the series, love Simon's armor design.
I mean it's still not that great to play in my opinion. Taking inspiration for bad things is an important thing for creators in general
Iga claimed SOTN was not inspired by SQ or Super Metroid but by The Legend of Zelda.
@@pungisotu I don't think anyone is saying that Symphony of the Night(which is an excellent game) was inspired by Simon's Quest. It's just not the 1st Castlevania game to introduce RPG elements into the mix.
@@TANKTREADthe OP literally said there would be no SOTN without this game
Thanks for the update. Love your videos.
Looks pretty good overall - definitely needed a visual upgrade too
Thanks for doing this video! I'm getting this right now! Bye My Favorite unloved stepchild of the series gets the love it deserved from dedicated fans!
This has already been done with a game called Castlevania Revamped. It is a super nintendo style simon's quest that is actually good. I'd recommend trying it out, it's on pc and has been around for 10 years.
Just looked up Revamped. It looks and sounds a million times better than this imo. Renting Simon's Quest and hearing the town music on the NES for the first time is a fond memory, even if I sucked at the game. The music in this remake is a real turn off for me.
But the guy is charging $20 to download it so maybe it's not worth it.
Too bad Revamped has 15 fps , that game is crap with that framerate !
@bland9876 I downloaded it for free from his discord
I just checked that out and yeah its probably better than this and has had some recent updates. I'm gonna play through them both
First Metroid 2 (AM2R) and now Castlevania 2! It never ceases to amazing what passionate, talented fans are capable of. I only wish Nintendo appreciated them more..
Thank god Konami isn't a Nintendo when it's about fan games (at least from what i've seen), i'm gonna check this ASAP.
It seems to be already down
This Looks AMAZING! Thanks for sharing!
It looks great, definitely giving this a go later
This looks great. I love how it got its inspiration from SOTN and it looks like it’ll be lots of fun like Castlevania 2: Simons Quest Revamped which played like the NES Simons Quest
I loved Simons Quest way back in the day on the NES, is still a great game with some minor oddities.
Looks great! Ima check it out. 👍
Looks awesome man
great video, have it running on my steam deck!!
Will definitely check that out on my Steam Deck!
I think the into doesn't play properly but ya also good luck downloading it with Firefox I couldn't figure out how.
This looks amazingly good 👍
i don’t have a computer - but id love to see a play through, or a side-by-side comparison with the original
a potato laptop can probably play it
"Process?, PROCESS??? Are you kiddin' me?" xD
I beta-tested this game! It's fantastic!
this game looks great. never liked castlevania as a kid but once I played the one on PS1 a couple years ago I got hooked. And this looks like a masterpiece.
Apart from Revamped, there's also Seal Of The Curse and that payware Rebitten etc.
This looks great, I will have to try it out.
Simon Belmont wearing some of Samus's Victorian cosplay gear.
This was the best one lol i wished they would have continued making them like this with the RPG elements
This looks great! You didn’t mention the soundtrack or let us hear it tho! Sounds like it’s a pretty rad remix maybe.
Just got this up and running. Doesn't seem to have game pad support built in. I really don't want to mess with JoyToKey again... Playing this on the keyboard is not ideal.
Love free to play PC games like this. Ghosts n Demons is another great one 👍🏻
DUUUDE!!!! I need to be looking into these fan-game remakes! Nice Suggestion!
Ghost's N Goblins is one of my favorites from the NES
im using a ps4 controller and the x button dont work ingame so my attack and jump is in the square button so if anyone can help me lmk
There is new dlc on a game called Dead Cells coming it is a Castlevania map and official looks very good and the closest to a Castlevania sequel we will get at the mo. Thanks for your video.
THANKS! :~))
Game fires up no problem and works with keyboard, but my ps4 controller doesn't work even though I use it for emulation. Can I at least map the controls to a WASD? Help!
Simons quest is the castlevania i started with. Bought it for $12 at a garage sale back in the early 90s, and I still have it. Obviously I know it's a black sheep, but I don't regret it. Playing this remake, I instantly needed to remap my keys, cuz I can't stand using the keyboard arrows to move.
There's a lot of great hacks to improve gameplay at RHDN. I have an in game map, retranslation, enhanced controls, marked Breakables, half penalty on on continue (normally you lose all hearts, not it's half)
Thanks for the heads up, MLP. I collect Castlevania games, and likely would have missed this if it weren't for you. 👍
Need help. I'm trying to play with my ps4 controller on my notebook and no success. It works with all emulators. Tnx
so how do you get this game? none of the provided links seem to be the link for THIS game
I played it a bit. Did they really leave out the iconic "what a horrible night to have a curse" or I just somehow haven't seen it happen in the game yet?
4:20
They KEPT the misspelling of "possess?" Genius.
Oh, this is definitely going on my steam deck
This remake sounds like it's pretty cool.
I like the game but it kills me that I cant remap the keys.. Controller support with my switch pro controller is non existent and the only scheme for keyboard is atrocious. Where is the configuration file? Where can I change the layout of keyboard? Where is the save file even?
Dude! Thank you for the review man!!! I REALLY appreciate it!!!
Oh my God. It looks awesome 👌
It would be so cool to have the nes games remade into today's technology with some new stuff added. Fester's Quest or Monster Party would be awesome if it was remade to name a couple.
Tried to play it, I used my dual sense as a Xbox controller and it kept mapping the jump and attack to the same button. I’d like to try it again if they add options.
It does look good. I'll try to pick it up.
Well, you sold me on at least the boss fights. That was what always miffed me on Simon's Quest. They just felt so slower or too easy in the game compared to the other Castlevania games. Heck, save for Dracula you could avoid them.
I saw some Demon's Crest background elements in there.
i downloaded this, but he moves 10 times slower than your guy does is it an upgrade?
It would be nice to see the Castlevania ll Simon quest be released on console. When I mean console I mean ALL consoles. I would definitely buy it.
Where do you buy/get this game from ?
Was the hearts used for ammo in Simons quest? I thought they were just money.
I dont remember ever not being able to use my daggers or holy water
Anyway to play on my mini nes classic, rom that'll work? Any other name game roms I should look into to enjoy on my mini?
Question is do you still have to duck for like 30 seconds in a specific spot to get whisked away by a funnel cloud?
Ypu have to for an hr then you get whisked away.
Castlevania II is one of my favorite NES games of all time. I loved the difficulty and little direction, just made you explore more!
People like to complain about it’s difficulty but seem to forget all games of that era needed strategy guides to complete and lacked tools to tell you where to go. They were slow too with unforgiving restart mechanics so discovering for yourself was often the difficult and time consuming part. Games today move faster, are forgiving in failure and generally help you where to go, but also have way more content to experience.
In the original game hearts were only currency. You had unlimited ammo. Experience was also important in the original game, which was not obvious at first.
Thanks.
Ingame the xbox 360 controller dosnt work at all, cant figure out why
This seems really neat.
Why do drops move with the character? Seems something is fundamentally off with the engine.
Cant seem to find it? Was it taken down? The link in the comment wont work 😞
Didn’t Konami cease all game development to focus in pachinko machines? Or did they reverse course on that?
I beat simons quest couple times a year. But get the flame whip right away and try to beat it fast but always takes too long.
Bro I love Castlevania and I love Rammstein too (nice cap 🤜🤛) , and I got some of both i'm this video, thanks duuude 🤘🤘🤘
Just played it and it is great, there are rooms for improvement but i am happy about it and the best thing is it is free!
I tried to get it from the link and it dled a .exe file, can someone confirm that is how the file is?
Thanks M.L.P
The npcs were supposed to lie. That was part of the challenge of the game.
For me is a collection of Sotn and Order of Eclesia sprites.
Look pretty cool Castlevania 2 Revamp on PC is pretty good as well.
I'm sorry, but am I missing the link to download Castlevania 2 remake? Thank you.
I loved Simons quest.
Where is the link to this game?
I love Castlevania 2, and it's translations. "You now prosess Dracula's eyeball."
Apparently this remake either ironically made a similar mistake, or is intentionally referencing the original because at 4:18 it says "You now PROCESS Dracula's Rib."
It’s the game that got me into castlevania in 89
👋
@@Phantom_Zer0 🙏
how do you set it up to use a controller
This game was confusing as hell as child, but I beat it a few years ago and I love it.
I wonder if this works on a steam deck
Fyi the link isn't working right now. Too many people downloading. I'll try in the middle of the night
Process? It's "prosess". How'd they mess that up?
It's a nice little remake that has its quirks. I just need to know why they replaced Simon with Chazz from Blades of Glory or Blaziken
Did they get rid of the illusion floors
Where's the game link? All I see are affiliate links...
I loved Castlevania and beat the first three games. They were tough games.
Needs a little more polish and bugfixing, but beside that its a great fanmade. Simons Quest was my alltime fav from the NES titles. Great to see it has a remake now.
This and Lecarde Chronicles 2 are the closest games we have right now to Castlevania games that could be considered streamlined (were they not made by fans, anyways) since konami isn't doing anything major with the title right now, save for allowing Simon and Richter to be in Smash Ultimate.
where di you get this game?
Well next be needing the SOTN remaster we never truly got ! haha
That is coming in the form of SOTN Hacked.
Maybe... but Dead Cells is a good game too
I loved this game.
Is it just me or does enter key not work half the time.
What??? "You now PROCESS Dracula's Rib" I always thought it should be Possess, as in "You know have..."
Weird
