Learn about the benefits of figs from a nutritional standpoint, also why they're sometimes referred to as a non-vegan type fruit. Also, details about "fig latex" and why is it better to consume ripe figs.
Ficus carica species or the "common fig" can be found fresh when in season or is frequently available as a dried variety and/or fig paste. There are lots of fig trees growing wild in our home state of California, brought by the Spanish missionaries, and we enjoy their abundant harvests several times a year.

I planted a fig tree in my yard when I 1st moved in. Now, 23 yrs later, I'm eating handfuls of figs every day when it fruits! Love my fig tree so much. Wish I had planted a pecan tree back then!
Awesome that's so great! Nut trees are great as well. We just harvested a ton off of WILD figs and WILD English walnuts in our area, nobody is eating them!
Sounds wonderful👍
Nice
🤣

I discovered earlier in the year that my neighbor's tree that spills over the fence into our backyard, is actually a fig tree! When I discovered this, I eagerly would check up on whether it was starting to grow fruit. I was happy to see little green bulbs growing on it's branches in early summer. Now the time has come where the figs are ripe and I just tried my first fresh fig today! I figured the part of the tree on my side of the fence is fair game lol. The fruit would just wind up dropping in our yard anyway. It did last year before I knew what it was. This year, I'm not letting that fruit go to waste! The flavor and texture are unique, but sweet and satisfying. Thanks for teaching me about figs! It was exciting to learn and experience ^^
Ya get it!
who else is watching this while eating some figs?
Dried figs

Dried fig. Ya I ate it a second ago and the box is in front of me rn. So yahh u can say..
This is mentioned in the Quran too. It was one of Prophet Muhammad's pbuh favourite fruits
My and him have something in common then...
Have you ever lied even once, stolen anything, used God’s name in vain, looked with lust or worse sexual sins? Then you’re not a good person in God’s eyes and in terrible danger of the judgement of God which will send you to hell (a terrible place of pain and sadness FOREVER & EVER & EVER & EVER….). Remember God is the Holiest such that one small lie will induce his severe wrath. Good news is Jesus died on the cross so that you may receive forgiveness of AALL YOUR SINS (No matter how bad or how many). But you aren’t forgiven unless you REPENT OF YOUR SINS & BELIEVE IN JESUS AS YOUR GOD (repentance means turning from sin and doing your absolute best not to do it again, also ask Jesus to rid you of addictions that you’re struggling to shake away-James 4:7). God has blessed us with Great food to eat (kings in the past don’t eat like we do today), shelter, freedoms, fun, medicine, pets to enjoy their company, friends, nice music to listen to and many more things to enjoy. Yet we don’t give him thanks, Blaspheme his HOLY name etc God wants to give the free gift of eternal life (9999999999999999999999999… years of extreme happiness) but we need to humble ourselves and turn from our wicked ways Believe in Jesus (God wants to have a relationship with you-like a father and his children). Think about why you’re reading this message (Everything happens for a reason) Get saved today since tomorrow is not promised (not everyone lives to 80+); Enter God’s rest; God is taking desperate measures to reach you all because the time is short. Thanks for reading this message & let me know if you have any questions. ua-cam.com/video/xfLNcBeXKdY/v-deo.html

Figs are one of the most ancient foods cultivated by humans. There is also some controversy about whether or not they contain dead wasps. Find out more in this video!

This video was right on time. I had been curious about figs and so I picked up 1 from the market today. I tried it and I was suprised that it wasn't more sweet. I'm happy with the taste and texture and will be adding this fruit to my diet.
Thank you.
If they are truly ripe, they are SUPER-SWEET! We ate figs daily in September in California off WILD trees and they were divine!

thank you
Thanks for showing up!
Love getting good news about my bad habits. Adore figs, but can't keep them in the house bc I eat them at the exclusion of other foods until they are gone! 😂
I wouldn't call eating figs a bad habit whatsoever :)
SuperfoodEvolution ... that's bc you're a nice person! Hahahaha My friend had a fig tree in her yard, we'd get on ladders with poles with hooks on the end of them for the ones we couldn't reach and pull them off every Spring. Both of us have developed lower joint problems, which made ladder work dangerous but there we were on those ladders every year... bc FIGS! She moved, and I told her we may have to cancel the friendship. Hahaha joking of course!
Loved your video, very informative and loved seeing all the varieties that I've GOT to try now! 😂😂😂😂
That was a funny story, enjoy those figs!
Thank you
So welcome!
Thank you for such helpful info, I'm gonna grow a Fig 🌳they're so delish with granola & yogurt👍🏼💖
Figs are the best!
Thank God you change that music much nicer thank you
Thanks for letting us know!
I’ll try adding one or half a one to my morning smoothies. Keeping them in a closed container in the fridge ? Or open ? I add dates to my smoothies for natural sweetness. So I’m excited to try the figs. The health properties alone are exciting!!
Awesome!

Sadaqa Allahu Al-‘Azeem (Alluah Almighty has spoken the truth)
Just several yrs ago, I bought some fresh figs from the produce dept. at a supermarket in Calif. I should've examined them better before buying. They had apparently been injected with some sort of gelatin, probably agar.
Stay Organic whenever possible...
We've been eating these since before wheat was being harvested regularly. Nearly eleven and a half millennia...in Asia (near Jericho).
yes ancient food.
I had a dream 10 1/2 yrs ago about giant grapes in the sky in a cluster. I have remained faithful with knowing god wants us to be healthy and fruitful. I believe all that happened to the world was a true test about faith. All will love him in the end. (God).
I came looking for the difference between "Smyrna" and "Calimyrna" figs.
We used to see "Calimyrna" at Costco, and now they only have the "Smyrna". The nutritional info on the back of the Calimyrna seemed to show more nutritional value (more of a particular vitamin and mineral, can't remember which one just now - but ones that were the main reason to consume them) than the Smyrna ones available there now... Don't know if I should try to find Calimyrna ones instead or just buy the Smyrna ones.
Thanks for the information. Interesting video.
We enjoyed making that one...
And this is why I have over 25 varieties

Check this out. Viable fig seeds in December. Larger fruits began developing around October and fruit usually take around 2 or so months to fully ripen. Very unusual. Central Ca - 9b

I just ate a bag full of homegrown figs from Mother's yard in Florida. What kind of suprise am I in for?
see toilet scene in the movie dumb and dumber 😀
What about the green ones?I didn't see them once on the video are they just as nutritious or LESS
Not sure about the nutrition, but they are our favorite!
Busqué que es fig nunca he visto me regalaron una bolsitas y pensé q era pasitas pero me dí cuenta q no es igual es muy parecida
Common figs do not require wasp fertilization because the wasp isn't available in most of US.
I happened to buy a fig tree thinking it was the "common" kind which is the dark purple "fruit", but turns out it is not. The riped fig from my tree is yellow, and stale because I thought it was premature ripen by Phoenix heat, but inside is red, and very sweet when I tried one. I wonder what kind I accidentally got? is it dangerous when eating unripe fig? Thanks.
Es una breva muy deliciosa
What is the best fig for florida?
Not sure, we're California natives...
There is not a best one, but a good one to start with is Black Mission if you like the dark ones or Violette de Bordeaux. For the green skinned you could start with Green Ischia
Soy productor de higo orgánico en Morelos, México, podrían ayudarme a colocar mi producto en usa?

Teen (Fig) is a name of a verse in the Qur'an. i do eat figs every day.
One of our favorite trees and fruits for sure!
Fantastic . Food Forest Permaculture
You're talking our language!
Cut open the fig when eating instead of biting into it, so you might not eating the wasp if there is one inside!! :)
How do you protect your tree from racoons and squirrels? It is only the 2nd year that our tree started getting fruit, but while we wait for them to ripe, the local fauna gets them before we do.
Get a guard dog
Bag them on the tree
What spoilt an otherwise excellent presentation, was the mind-numbing background repetitive loop. I wish there was some way to turn this off; good job there are sub-titles as my nerves just couldn't stand much more of it.
Wait, wasps have a use?
sitting here struggling to eat this fig. split it open i cant get over the sight of the seeds
Be not afraid. Figs rock! One of our favorite trees by far, so abundant...
I get my dried figs from Costco since I don't know where to purchase fresh ones. I have noticed that some of it are darker than others and taste sour. Is this normal? The light colored ones taste sweet, but the dark ones, looks like they are wet, tastes very sour. Thanks.
yes its due to different turpenes and acids in the fig. the dark turkish figs tend to be sour. i love the sour ones!
I think it may (also) have something to do with the sugars "converting" or maybe developing. I notice the same thing.
Try looking for them at any farmers market
Man figs are good
One of our favorites!
Thanks for this video! I can now eat figs since I know which varieties do not contain wasps. I would be horrified if I cut into a fig and found a wasp.
Glad it helped, we found it interesting as well...

Figs are a natural laxative that will make you poo a lot. Watch this video to learn how many different ways this can be restated.
Love me some WILD figs...
Certain Species of Figs Resist the " Invasion " of Ants " which will Ruin the Figs if they
get into the Fig .
Would you list which Species are Immune to this ? !
In all my WILD fig tree eating I have never seen that.
You might Google “fig varieties with closed eye” for your answer. But you can also protect your figs by putting organza bags over each fig as it starts to ripen. (Takes maybe five seconds to slip over the fig and pull tight.) The bags protect them fairly well from both ants and birds. Unfortunately, rodents eat right through the bags….but pieces of fig work well as bait in rat, mouse, or live traps if necessary!
Hey Extra protein is extra protein

The fig is the only fruit that does not bloom

Trader Joe's, how many calories is one fig
one big fig? (it could be from 50 - 100+ gramms) contains .....nutrients in mg ........i dont get this ...nice video untill that .....thats why i cliked on this video and there goes my 14 minutes and still dont know about more precise nutrition
Sorry...
@@SuperfoodEvolution it happens ... i like to see it on you tube video (lazy) more then to search and read it from nutrition facts ....my bad
I don’t get this complaint. Besides the size of the fig, the nutrition will depend on its water content, variety, and the soil where it was grown. You can’t expect to learn “precise nutrition.” Just the general ballpark.
Thats puts me off u didnt have ti tell the wasp stuff
We haven't seen too many, but we thought people should know...
No worse than the snake venom they've introduce to everyone....purebloods exempt...
Tedious music! So distracting
I love fresh figs, when i see the dried variety cant bring myself to purchase, it always give me a drawback reaction of , "perservatives" in them!
If they look lighter in color, they've been sulfured, stay away from those...
The garden of eve doesn’t exit!🤬

Hardly any information about African figs where the fig comes from. This is so skewed as usual.
