- I realize most 1up fans will not appreciate this video but I stand by what I said. I think a 3/4 scale version of Robotron 2084 would be a hot mess. I guess if the rumors are true, only time will tell.

100% correct! All I have are 1ups (trying to find an ALU) and I converted a Rampage to a defender with the correct control panel. Man, it rocks so much when I play it I’ve thought about sandbags in the bottom. Defender can get really frantic as well and I didn’t realize how much until I made an A1Up one. Robotron would be even worse.

Robotron plays perfectly on ALU with coin ops. Black Levels are perfect, the sticks are spaced well and the unit is heavy enough that it doesnt shake when the going gets tough.
Does make you wonder why they haven't released it yet?
I think 1up hasn’t done Robotron Becuase they are too stupid to figure out how to map the controls in Mame to make them work right. 😂😂

Robotron 2084 and Space Dungeon play excellent on the ALU, you def need a wider and heavier cabinet to play twin stick games so a Royale with Cheese Edition is what they need. I am sure you triggered a few but sometimes the truth hurts!

I have actually! Not until recently since it was on my machine but I do enjoy it. I will be going back to it once my Robotron fix subsidies LOL
They just want to milk the existing games and keep rereleasing. Easy money for them because people keep upgrading for minimal changes. New games will only be licenses that appeal to the mass market. Robotron is popular to arcade/retro purists only.
You would think Robotron would be an easy cash grap for 1up since they know people want it. Just slap some graphics on a legacy cabinet and add Smash TV and sell thousands. Idk, seems to me there are other reasons they haven't released it yet. Appreciate the comment 👍
@@show-me-retro I think they can and will do robotron at some point. At the beginning they were more willing to take chances and they learned from many certain games not selling. So I think they are just more calculated on the cabinets they are releasing now. They are going to keep making fighting game cabinets with Capcom licenses because they know it will sell and emulation and the online infrastructure is built.
Wouldn’t Iircade also be able to pull it off? Their cabs are very sturdy.
I've never played an iircade and not familiar with anyone modding one in order to play any game

I just experienced robotron in a real arcade a few weeks ago. Was surprised that I had never played it previously and how it essentially invented the "twin stick shooter" decades before it became popular.
It's an amazing game. No matter how hard it is, I keep coming back for more

I have had 3 actual Robo Cabinets. I sold my two full size and I still have my cabaret even mame. don't play like the original or the f p g a version. The 19in 1 version is actually about four times harder On easy. So if you can play the real thing do so If you can't use the real joysticks at least use Il or magstick. The only other way to play it the right way

I'm one of those people waiting for an Arcade 1UP version of Robotron. I have an actual Robotron cabinet, but know that you do push the game around more than others, but never put 2 + 2 together and what would happen if I had to play Robotron on an Arcade 1Up standard cabinet. My 40th Anniversary Ms. Pac-Man moves around slightly as it is, so Robotron would be a nightmare.
That being said, if they got a 19" monitor into a Pro or XL version, I'd probably buy it, as my original Robotron has the standards quirks and don't know how long it will last. I'd just put some sandbags or weights on the bottom to keep it from moving. Thanks for the video.
I'm still skeptical it will even happen. I think they're aware if not done properly it could be a huge fail.
