First time watching better call saul (reaction)
I still haven't seen the finale because i have no internet but I hope you guys have enjoyed the journey. We are not done yet and make sure u stay around!!! Also the like target for the finale must be reached! Elie out. I'm also uploading this at work.

Yep Emilio dies in the RV and Crazy 8 dies in the basement...
@@TatyanaZinger There's absolutely no reason to say this.
Marion saying "i trusted you" was what stopped him from commiting a murder
He starts his practice in season 1 defending the elderly, they loved him! So hearing that at the end kinda brought him back to reality.
And the elderly finally got back at him for what he did to Irene!
I never thought about that 😢 it's kind of sweet that his humanity started slipping back through. Still too little too late..
@@neezduts69420 if only there was a time machine ;)
Nah, there was no chance that Jimmy was going to murder her.
@@dog-eared6991 Agreed. I don’t think Saul ever used any physical violence himself though out either show. He was just hoping he could scare her enough
@@dog-eared6991 the same could be said about Walt, he spent most of his life without killing...until he killed
That Rhea didn't get an Emmy for this is a disgrace. What a performance
58 Emmy nominations for BCS, 0 wins. Rhea & Bob really deserved an Emmy…🏆
17:54 the "Time to sing!" is foreshadowing Kim's confession. Still gives me chills every time
This is an AWESOME observation, Pepsi! Hadn't thought of it...
And it was Jimmy’s birthday- he made the call on his BD and no doubt she remembered as she sang happy BD to her co-worker..
To be fair to Kim, she couldn’t confess until after Gus and Mike were out of the picture. They would’ve killed her if she tried.
They would have “sent her to Belize” if she tried
@@nont18411very very true 😊
Rhea Seehorn didn’t get an Emmy for any of her performances but this one especially is egregious. Her bus breakdown is one of the greatest TV acting moments I’ve ever seen. Better Call Saul 0-53 at the Emmy’s is one of the biggest travesty’s in TV awards history.
The Wire also won zero Emmys, and I consider it one of the greatest TV shows of all time, so BCS is in good company.
@@jmwild1 same with the leftovers. Still annoying tho
@@TomJones-wx5onextactly. Emmys are jokes, a lot of excellent shows deserved recognition
Emmy's is a popularity award. Just like that.
Seehorn is a multi-time nominee and winner of multiple awards for each year of BCS, and for good reason. She was a phenom for that bus scene. Elie kind of talked through it, though. He should watch again and take the time to really feel it. It hurts so good.
A couple things: when Kim said Howard was in the wrong place at the wrong time, he was not. He was in the RIGHT place at the wrong time, to confront Kim and Jimmy for what they had just done to him. And that balance you saw of $737,612.62 was an easter egg like you noticed! Obviously the 737 is a reference to Walt's original claim that he needed $737k. The 612 is a reference to this being season 6 episode 12, and the 62 is a reference to this being the 62nd episode of BCS.
Jimmy’s coping mechanism was to become full-throttle Saul, Kim’s was to become a Stepford Wife. Both stepped into those rolls so they could try and forget what they had done. But the past has a way of catching up and smacking down.
The scene with Jesse and Kim is kinda like one leaving their ending their journey (sans the epilogue) and the other beginning there's- Jesse's left in the rain/waterworks.
That Seehorn didn’t win an Emmy for this is beyond me
I just noticed that at the party Kim is at near the beginning (the “scene straight out if Wandavision”) the music they’re playing in the background is “The Pina Colada Song” by Rupert Holmes. Back when Jimmy was shooting one of his commercials and needed to use an elementary school as a background setting, he pretended that he was shooting a documentary on Holmes and that Holmes had gone to school there.
Whereas Plan and Execution is the Ozymandias of BCS, Waterworks is Granite State: we literally see the consequences of Jimmy and Kim's actions.
The whole show was to explain Saul's origins and it's crazy to think that they added SO much to a side character plus they added such a vital character as Kim, even tho she was never planned.
Now that you saw the episode I can finally say this: Vince Gilligan after airing the finale, started to do a lot of interviews. In one of those he revealed that they never crossed into their minds killing Kim.
Between the 7 years of airing there were 2 popular theories: either she was dead or secretly working with Jimmy. Even when S6 aired those 2 were the only ones everyone talked (which makes sense, Lalo going into Kim's apartments was a big deal. The tension of that scenes comes from Lalo and Kim: we knew Jimmy and Mike were gonna be okay but we had no idea sbout Lalo and Kim).
So to finally know that she just moved away was such a relief. Looking back it's obvious what they were gonna do but having to wait a full week and making theories made things a little bit challenging.
Also I agree: Rhea is such a GOOD actor. To me, Kim is the best character from BCS and BB because you don't see coming the rise and fall of a total beast. She's such a good actress that Vince already casted her as a protagonist in his new show (we have no idea about what it's gonna be)
Vince has said little but he has said that it’s a sci fi show (though leans psychological more than “space life”) set in ABQ!
zero emmys is absolute lunacy
I will be addressing this....
@@eliemoses "I will be addressing this...." We take to the streets!!! LMFAO
Jesse never fails to put a smile on my face! That cigarette exchange with Kim though, I’ve never seen “passing the torch” taken quite literally like that.
Rhea should have won all the awards for her scene on the bus.
And this year Better Call Saul was snubbed yet again. They didn't win a single thing despite 5 nominations. I guess the studio money thrown at the awards really makes a lot of difference.
@@VocotudeI mean I’m sure the shows that won were also good lol
I'm sure they were, but knowing the indisputability of the quality of BSC I think it's a shame that the show received 53 nominations throughout its run and won exactly 0 times. Yeah I might be slightly overinvested in BSC but this just seems..not ok.
Succession was great and also deserved awards it’s just unfortunate that bcs always runs up against great shows that it becomes really close, 53 noms probably 53 runner ups
I went back to my maiden name after my husband died and I had a new law license issued under that name.
The birthday party was like Hector's in the nursing home.
I think Kim needed to wait until she knew everyone was dead before speaking up or she'd put herself in danger. Jimmy made it clear there was nothing holding her back now.
I think Jimmy saying "Still getting away with it" reminded Kim of her mother saying "Relax, you got away with it."
Kim had no firsthand knowledge of anything except Howard's death and there was no criminal liability on her part for that. Accessory after the fact, at most, for letting them think he committed suicide. Civil wrongful death is even iffy. Defamation, probably, but I am guessing statute of limitation has run. (I don't know New Mexico law)
I think Gene was trying to get caught, at least subconsciously. He is self-destructing.
God rest your husbands soul 💜
@@eliemoses Thank you. That's sweet.
@@sallyatticum we family on this channel
She may not be liable for prosecution, but the guilt she'll be racked with for the events leading up to Howard's death will be her and Jimmy's punishment
Kim stopped living herself when Howard was killed. She resigned from the bar and took on the most nondescript life as possible. One in which she didnt come up with her own ideas or give her opinions for fear that something she chose would end up hurting another person, even indirectly. She couldnt turn herself in before without implicating Jimmy and without bringing the wrath of Gus, Lalo, etc upon her and maybe getting others hurt. With Jimmy in a criminal hiding and learning that the others are dead, she became free in her own mind to turn herself in. She has been punishing herself the entire 6 years.
The anonymous hand that reaches for Kim on the bus puts a lil lumpy in my throat
Vince Gilligan's wife. She was also a teacher standing there during Walt's post-Wayfarer crash speech.
@@hbk314 Cool!
Conviction leads to confession leads to redemption. Kim travelled that path. ❤❤
The scene where Jimmy sings "The Tide is High" is one of my favorites- it's basically a description of how desperately he's hanging onto his old life after the stories over kinds like when Francesca went over how everyone's gone and settled and this episode Jimmy went on about how everyone's dead and in the ground/they can only hang him once.
The tide is high but he's holding on- he isn't the kinda person that gives up just like that; beyond the point of reason.
To me, this episode was the best of the post-Lalo/black-and-white episodes. In a perfect world, I wish they would have centered/focused these last episodes more around Gene and Kim, and maybe built up more the tension in their perspectives (her seeking redemption vs. Gene becoming more heartless and unrepentant), perhaps leading to conflict or a showdown between them. The scenes such as their telephone reunion and Kim with Cheryl Hamlin and her breakdown on the bus are so much more powerful than anything of the Jeff subplot (I felt that was a late-coming detour which dissipated a lot of the octane needed for the final episodes). But I realize they only had four episodes left to work with, and they needed some space from the "Fun and Games" episode to make the viewer wonder about Kim's absence to be effective dramatically.
I am honestly surprised Carol Burnett wasn’t nominated for her guest role here. It seems like an easy way to get an Emmy as she is so beloved. She won an Emmy that night regardless for her special BUT still I would have thought she be up for this role too.
She was in too many episodes to be guest actor
@@invisiblechair708 What's the cutoff?
@@hbk314 I think she had to appear in less than 50% of the episodes but she was in 3 of the 6 episodes.
Yeah, notoriously. When I heard she was cast to play a character in the final season, although i love her (I'm old enough to have watched her show back in the day when it was first on), I thought to myself, "Oh no. I hope these guys haven't made a mistake out of love for a legend. I don't know if she's up to this kind of thing." But boy, she knocked it outta the park for sure. So fuckin' cool...
Something that I think people tend to forget is that Kim was under threat of death or worse not to talk about Howard. Not only that, but she had no way of knowing that there wasn't anyone around anymore to enforce that threat. Once Saul told her that, she immediately turned herself in. One could argue that she should have gone to the police anyway, but seriously, how much do you want from her? She wants to be held accountable, not be dead.
She would have already known Gus was dead: even before Walter White’s nationwide-news making comeuppance, the spectacular death of regional fast-food magnate/philanthropist/secret Meth Kingpin Gus Fring would have probably been national news in itself.
Mike, on the other hand, simply disappeared: the only people who ever knew he was definitely dead were Walter & Todd. Jesse & Saul were pretty confident in their suspicions, but even they didn’t know for a fact, and even if Saul did offhandly claim he was dead to Kim, he’s been wrong about that sort of thing before. So even coming forward when she did, Kim had to have thought there was a decent chance that Mike might still be out there.
Just saw this and will begin watching in a minute. Just wanted to say first that, yeah, it's ironic that you're watching this episode - the one that got Seehorn more raves than any other - the night after the last time she'll be robbed of the Emmy she deserved for her huge role in the creation of Kim Wexler.
Kim ended up with the fate she earlier said she became a lawyer to escape. 😢
Truth. But it looked like she was starting to dig her way out...
Really great episode well written. Rhea is an excellent actress who portrayed Kim Wexler so well she was one of the best character of any tv show. Heartbreaking to not see Mike at the parking...
"I don't think there's been 1 bit of score this episode"
(Saul plays a single piano key)
It's almost like he heard you
39:30 - Didn't you recognize "Emilio"? He was in the first 2 episodes of Breaking Bad... Jesse's original partner. He died in the RV after Walt poisoned them with Phosphene gas.
YESS I DID!! I think i asked in tbe reaction whether he was the one that died in the rv. Cool cameo

@@glumOr Ahhhh - there it is. 🙂
A lot of people say that bringing Walt and Jesse was pure fan service. To some degree yeah, but also I love how we find out why Jesse (in Breaking Bad) suggested Saul as the guy they should go to xD
You are in for an absolute treat, i actually can't wait!
Kim getting the, "Yup Yup". What a life, lol
You predict everything- it’s amazing!!
She mentioned Albuquerque first. But him saying Omaha is nothing like it made her wonder how he would know how things work in Abq.
Thanks as always for this awesome reactions Elie. Can't wait for the finale.

Back in season one episode eight Jimmy quoted the famous line from the Life Alert commercial "I've fallen and I can't get up!". At the end it was Life Alert that brought him to justice. (Or does he get away with it?)
I thought he was going to strangle Marion for a few seconds when this episode came out- a lot of people did.
My take remains the same- some people say he didn't because he isn't a killer; I say that no one's a killer until they do it.
Murderers don't have a high rate of recidivism as it's often circumstantial/in the moment and isn't the sum of their being, the last part is imo.
And conmen, elder abusers, when pushed to the limits fan result to killing to escape consequences; Jimmy didn't and that's good of him regardless of it being the bare minimum but he could have and that tells you how far he's fallen and where people's lives can take them- in much less dramatic scenarios.
A conman from whatever city in whatever state- that's what he was in the end; that scramble after Marion announced his name is just a chef's kiss.
Remember walt wasnt a killer then krazy 8....
I think he was going to kill her until she said "I trusted you" and that brought him back to the elder clients from Sandpiper and the guilt hit him.
*THIS MIGHT BE A SPOILER ELIE SO DON'T READ UNTIL YOU'VE WATCHED EPISODE 13*
I think in terms of writing they want to do with Saul whst they did with Walt which was to redeem his character. If he killed Marion it would be harder for us to sympathize with him in the next episode when he admits guilt to all his wrong doings
Rhea got robbed of an Oscar for this episode.
You went to the beach…well it’s 4 degrees F here (-15 or so C). And about 7 inches of snow on the ground. And I live in the freaking south. Wanna trade??
it's been an amazing journey thus far, mate!
Kim now doesn't have a say, shes not opinionated. Last time she made a decision, she ended up with the murder of Howard.
Rhea is ridiculously talented, no amount of nominations or awards would be enough to categorize her performance throughout the series and especially this episode.
The wait for the finale will be hell. >_
What timing. I clicked on just as this went up!

I hate where Kim ended up. It's just so sad. I understand that she was depressed about what happened with Howard, but she just became a "kept" wife in a sad marriage with a go no where job. And "yup... yup... yup... yup... yup..." 😕
With that said, Rhea's acting in this episode was outstanding. And "Kim" really redeemed herself with Howard's wife. I am so glad that she told her what happened to her husband.
She's not married to that Florida guy. Or it's the weirdest marriage I have ever seen lol. Boyfriend. But yeah boring dum dum life.
She doesn't trust herself to make even the most mundane decisions.
Ehh considering all she’s done I think it’s the least damaging price to pay. But yea the overall situation is sad
Hello there! This has been my second watch through, can't wait for your final reaction, it'll be sad 🎉❤
This show, and possibly due to this standalone episode, has solodifed Kim as top 3 characters for me. Possibly even #1. And Rhea Seehorn, just wow. These film makers have a knack for perfect casting but they still struck gold with her. Very hard to choose faborite characters whether they're good or bad in the show. And holy moly I cant believe we're at the end already. Your consistent uploads were always appreciated but simultaneously I wish this could go on even longer. Either way keep rocking on my brother, many incredible shows out there for you to tackle!
Edit: would totally be down for a live premier for the finale but any way you wanna go about it works for me
Thinking of doing a live upload then a live stream to review the series
@@eliemoses that actually sounds much more immersive and fun! I'll keep an eye out for the notification:)
I really wish the divorce scenes had been in an earlier episode. That Jesse and Kim conversation would have been so much cooler if we hadn’t seen Jesse or Walt yet
The scene itself is so great. Good dialogue, good symbolism. They are the two main characters who made it out of either show. One’s story ends while the other just begins

You are cursed for reminding me of Skyler's Happy Birthday
LMFAO
Ellie, I think you were wrong about Kim in the beginning; but you got her right further on in the episode. You said Kim is sucking it up and hating her life. I don’t think so. I think she has just ceased being Kim Wexler. She’s become a hollow shell of a human being. Notice that she can’t make a single decision on her own. Vanilla or strawberry? Should we use Miracle Whip? Also notice how she morphs into whatever the surroundings call for. It’s time to sing; so she goes and sings happy birthday just like everyone else. You want to go to the new Outback for dinner? Sure (whatever you want to do). I do think you realized this is who Kim has become in the middle of the episode.
Thanks, Elie, for these timely uploads. They are thoroughly enjoyable. I am going to challenge you with a difficult question to start mulling over. Which series do you think is better? Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul? A tough one; but inquiring minds want to know.
Havent seen the finale yet so cant answer hahaha

I don't know the correct terminology, but I hope that you decide to do a live debut of the video where you can be in chat and we can all watch the last episode together! I'm really looking forward to it.
I hope you end up with a new show that I enjoy. I tried to watch True Detective, but it's just been too long since the last time that I watched it and I couldn't piece together what was going one so I had to bail. I'll be here for movies and new shows that are my cup of tea! Please think about doing The Last of Us 2 once it comes out!

Damn... That would be an epic task, and would take me a very long time (I'd have to rewatch everything from the beginning again to refresh, take notes, meditate, etc...). It would be fun as hell! :)
I think Gene mentioned to Marion in "Nippy" that he'd never been to Albuquerque. That's probably where he slipped up this episode. I can imagine her thinking like
"As a cinnabon manager from Omaha, that Gene guy sure knows a lot about ABQ criminal law.."
