I don't care this Adam West Batman figure looks so really good I mean the sculpt, design, and Adam West's likness is spot on while looking great with Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale, Ben Affleck and Robert Pattinson Batman in a live action Batman evolution collection, Great review overall on him Jason.
I'm a recently new subscriber, Jason, but I throughly enjoy your comprehensive and honest reviews and always look forward to them. Thank you and keep up the awesome!
5:23 I think that hand is supposed to be the hand that he uses when he's thinking. At least, that's how I'm using it and it works pretty well for that.
I've seen a few Batarang '66 prop replicas, and that hole is accurate and definitely for a rope. I have one other little problem with the figure that wasn't mentioned. The "rotator cuffs" in his shoulders are a pair of rings. They're very loose, shift around a lot, and will leave big visible gaps in the joint that look very unsightly. Maybe the looseness is preferable than having them so tight that they rub against the joint, but it still irks me that they're so loose.
Another great video! I love how you show figures with other figures for reference! This helps so much in a lot of ways. As for the cape, I simply trimmed mine without taking the head off. Worked ok for me. By trimming I was also able to add more scallops which somehow makes it better looking also. Love your Playability scale of 5! Yes! This is the one figure I probably PLAY with the most! How can you not?! He simply rocks! Thanks again for another super review!
In the Show the Cowl,Gloves and Trunks were a Purple Blue then went more Purple during the three Seasons and movie. The Cape was a shiny blue. Go look at the Hot Toys Adam West Batman. The color contrast is correct.
It looks identical to my one. The paint job isnt the issue with the head, its the sculpt not accounting for ears inside the cowl and the mask being too form fitting that throws it off. That issue is on all of them. Not really sure why you're defending a figure you don't own anyway, one you said you "saw" once, especially as this review was mostly positive.
I alos repainted all the blue parts on my Adam West figure with Pebeo pearlescent dark blue and it made a huge difference. It blends much better with the cape and it looks closer to the show/movie. Also the belt is a separate piece glued to the trunks, if you peel it off you can have it as an adjustable floating piece and it will naturally sit lower on the figure, allowing you more of the torso articulation and getting rid of the Simon Cowell high waist look.
Lots to like, lots to critique. Glad there is an available 7in option for the 7in collectors. I am sticking with my 6in collection for now. But there is no perfect Adam west Batman in 6/7 in. But there are a lot of really good versions and I am very grateful for that.
Ha! Great minds. Posted our look at this guy (and the Platinum) around the same time, and we share some of the same thoughts. Great review! Cape swap looks much better on both figures.
Appreciate that, man! A lot of your videos inspired me to start picking up more of the 7 inch scale figures. Keep up the awesome work! And yes, definitely interested in seeing the custom paint video for this guy. 🤝🏻
I would like to see a vs video between this Batman figure against the NECA Adam West Batman figure and the Mattel 6 in Adam West Batman figure and the McFarland 6-inch retro Adam West Batman figure Adam West isn't my favorite Batman (that title goes to DCAU Batman) but I would like to see that video
I was disappointed with this one so I bought Neca’s version. Even though the elbows and knees have limited articulation - I love it! The likeness is amazing. Thanks for showing the cape swap and I’d check out that repaint video!
I have for gone getting one of these figs for a slight chance of getting the 'replica cowl ' . I know the chance is slight, most likely one in a billion, trillion, but I think the figure is weird. It's not completely awful, it's its own thing. But it's just off. So much that it's unsettling. Definitely do a comparison video 📷😂❤
@5POAFigureReviews regardless, please check into the cowl situation. I no I'm never getting one, so I'm wondering what mcfartlane is getting at with it 🦇👍
For figs I've gotten in hand, my vote for Toy of the Year is a toss up between the new ML Angel and Mafex Bane from Knightfall. Both felt OH SO GOOD. And yes, bring on Vs 60s Batmen!
Honestly the cape and lack of fists were my only complaints about this guy, but I found that Knightfall's blues aren't that far off from this so in a pinch for some toy photography, they'd do. I also made a bomb prop for mine to hold as a nod to the movie.
I have seen a bunch of them as well. In fair the one with the short cape I swapped with, is an extra I picked up in the middle of editing and shooting this video.
It has technical problems I notice as an adult but purely as a toy it is a ton of fun. Would’ve been ecstatic if this came out when I was a kid watching the show on tv.
McFarlane being nominated for action figure of the year is wild. He also sent out emails to people in his mailing list to vote for it. So he is going to win unopposed.
Do you have plans on reviewing The Batman Noel or Batman by Norm Breyfogle next and plz compare each of them to Superman alright do you also have plans on reviewing Superman blue or red just because?
Yeah, was going to do the Norm one this past week but I want to make that a big head swap video and just didn't have the time. Hopefully next week. I still have not received Noel or the glider version. Probably will get to Superman Blue because I want to finish building Plastic Man.
Amazing video as always ! waiting for the repaint! I really want to do it on my figure but scared I might messed it up. The armored batman should the one be voted for the toy of the year if it only was release earlier
I wish NECA could produce more of their 60s Batman, because the details were incredible. And yes, the belt buckle should have an etched bat logo, which the NECA figure recreated nicely with a paint app. It looks like the collar of the cowl goes down a bit far on the McFarlane, as well. Basically, it looks like what I expected. Decent for the price, but that's it.
I swear your headsclupt has its right eye miss painted for almost the entire video except with the cape swap. Tell me you got two copies, one for review and one for cape customs, and I can sleep better at night... Also, I'll be here for any Adam West videos!
I know it'll NEVER happen, but I would love some company to make Action Figures of Kirk Alyn and George Reeves Superman, Robert Lowery and Lewis Wilson Batmans. We've got figures for nearly every other live-action incarnation. It'd be nice to have a set of all of them.
I'd watch the repainting video. Don't know if other people would be interested but I really enjoy the results when customizing McFarlane figures and this one could easily be fixed
Not sure why but that headsculpt isnt doing it for me, but id fosho be interested to see u repaint this fig. And id really be interested to see more mods/custom vids from u too
I agree--how is this a Toy of the Year contender in any category? For Adam West I think it's a decent figure, but figures like Jonah Hex blow it out of the water.
Well, not to spoil the discussion, but they can't nominate Hex because of the guns. The only way McFarlane was able to offer him was as an adult collectable for ages 17 up, and not as a toy.
See, I am uncertain as to whether to count Captain Carrot for this year or not because I got mine back in Dec 2023. It's always a gray area when they release so close to New Year.
Off topic but do you plan on covering the recent Marvel Select Captain America? I think a Versus with that a comparable DCM Collectors Edition would be very interesting.
I bought this because he could do the Batoosey, but other than that it is pretty meh. The likeness is terrible, and I feel like less articulation would have been better in this situation. My smaller Adam West Batman is way better imo. If you like this then I'm happy you're happy, but for me it's a disappointment. Definitely not figure of the year, not even McFarlane figure of the year... also, the cape is ridiculous.
You can best be sure that is a comparison I will definitely be showing, along with Keaton and Clooney (since Superman apparently exists in his universe).
@ now for the follow up question, how? Like no offense to dc multiverse I just felt like there could’ve been so much better figures out there. heck there are figures in the line that could be better. Not even mentioning big companies like mafex Sh figure arts. Or maybe even marvel legends.
Psst.... the "toy of the year" nominations and awards really are meaningless, mostly just manufacturers and advertisers picking something that they think sells well and has broad pop culture appeal so they can give it the little emblem on the Amazon page. Its why Lego always picks a 40-50 pop culture set to be its "toy of the year" nominee rather than anything bigger or more complex
@5POAFigureReviews Eh, I can see why McF picked Adam West as their "Toy of the Year" Nominee. Broadly popular source material, good number of accessories, widely available? It ticks the boxes to make for a great nominee, even if it isn't the best thing McF put out this year (I'd maybe say that Plastic Man BAF, Earth 2 Superman, or Collector's Edition Huntress are my personal best choices, but they don't make for great ToTY Nominees.)
The figure is decent, but since I can't stand this version of Batman ever since I was a kid (I know I'm in the minority but as a kid I only watched reruns of this terrible show because there was nothing else), it's the hardest pass for me...
Hey listen, the show is definitely an acquired taste and not for everyone. And the good news is if you're not a fan, that frees your wallet up for something you'll like better.
Nah, don't think this is toy of the year, best batman action figure? Perhaps, but not overall figure, the sonic 3 ones are much better for way less, ofc if you only mean mcfarlane and not in general

I was hoping that bit of sass would be appreciated
A video about customization? Fixing the cape? Figure painting? Yes please
You got it

Thanks so much, I appreciate it (and dig the Dallas love)
@5POAFigureReviews you're very welcome and Dallas was a staple in my household back in the day...as well as Knots Landing!
This figure upsets me.
Loving the Vid btw 👏👏👏
Thanks!

@@mickeyperdomo1324 same!
Good observation! I'll be sure to do some shots of that in the Versus
More Adam West videos? Yes please!
So fun!
Glad Macfarlane made a more articulated version of West’s Batman for those who want it
Me too!
I've seen a few Batarang '66 prop replicas, and that hole is accurate and definitely for a rope.

Very true.
I'm always down to see customs. So I'd like to see what you cook up with this repaint :)

Thanks for the kind words. I was worried if I trimmed the cape it would fray at the edges. Did yours have that issue?
Oh yes, I would love to see a versus of all the Adam West Batmen, especially if you can do some toy photography of them all breaking it down.
That would be fun
In the Show the Cowl,Gloves and Trunks were a Purple Blue then went more Purple during the three Seasons and movie. The Cape was a shiny blue. Go look at the Hot Toys Adam West Batman. The color contrast is correct.
Adam West VS Video? I'll stay tuned in for that! Same bat-time! Same bat-channel!
Time to GO WEST
Let's see that re paint Josh...great take on the fig.
Jason, but thank you!
@@5POAFigureReviews 😁😁🤣🤣 Sorry fat finger typing on this end darn autocorrect
I believe that your copy had a bad head sculpt in my opinion because the one I saw was so much better and well painted

I was happy to get this. It’s definitely better articulation than the retro version. The retro figures are great and to have dioramas for them too.

Well said
While his colors are off, his face sculpt is good and he is the best balanced McFarlane figure I've seen.
Yeah I'm overall happy with the sculpt. Some nitpicks but it's decent

It's coming. Just kind of on the back-burner since I already discussed the first version in the movie six pack.

@5POAFigureReviews regardless, please check into the cowl situation. I no I'm never getting one, so I'm wondering what mcfartlane is getting at with it 🦇👍
A reissue of this figure should include the punch sounds. POW! ZAM! KAPOW!
That would be great

Amazing video as always ! waiting for the repaint! I really want to do it on my figure but scared I might messed it up.
The armored batman should the one be voted for the toy of the year if it only was release earlier
Out of any mainstream DC Multiverse release, Armored Batman would have my vote.
I’m excited for that repaint. The year ain’t over and might as well continue the search. But yes, looking forward to the next video super friends👌👌👌
Next video is BvS Wonder Woman, out Tuesday!
100% would like to see an Adam West VS, and your repaint results.

I am giving serious thought to it, yes. And it will definitely be a Versus.
Repaint!!! I guess if there was a comic batman head in that color it'd be a cool swap
I think the Armored Batman from BvS should had been nominated instead.
I get that West has better accessories and therefore more play value, but Armored is just so much more impressive.

That toy of the year award is such a sham.
Before watching the review I'm gonna say no it's not TOTY quality it's just nostalgia, edit will be added here if I change my mind 😂
I am not predicting an edit from you lol
@5POAFigureReviews You must be clairvoyant
Is toy of the year a thing within dc multiverse or does it consist of all figures?
No it's an industry-wide thing done by the toy foundation, and is an award ceremony that kicks off the international Toy Fair every year
@ now for the follow up question, how? Like no offense to dc multiverse I just felt like there could’ve been so much better figures out there. heck there are figures in the line that could be better. Not even mentioning big companies like mafex Sh figure arts. Or maybe even marvel legends.
