    About Honest Tea Talk
    with Aliyah, LaYinka & Sumayah
Inspired by Jada Pinkett-Smith's 'Red Table Talk', 3 Muslim women have set up a platform to speak openly and honestly, giving viewers an unedited insight into the minds and life of Muslim women. Honest Tea Talk brings deep and often unspoken topics to the table to lay down our masks and start much-needed discussions about matters related to Muslim women and the ummah at large.

I can't wait for this full episode to come out! The fact that men already called girls gold diggers for asking for mehr, just goes to show people are still trying hard to take away women's rights and asking her to do it to prove herself to him as "good". Islam protects women by giving them rights♥️

It's not appropriate to call a sister a gold digger but i think sisters also need to look at the person (man) they want to marry before they set that mahr. I for one believe no amount will ever amount to have someone's daughter but mahr is not for "buying" you
Its a token of appreciation for letting me in ur life and that's why it's unrefundable. it seriously makes no much sense losing someone who truly loved you and am assuming you truly loved him just because he could afford a camry instead of the lamborghini you wanted.
      may Allah guide us

THIS!!! This episode is going to empower soooo many women!! A big JAZAKALLAH KHAIR FOR THIS my sisters. Unfortunately, many brothers manipulate sisters when it comes to mahr. I heard one brother say to a sister; before we begin; "I can't afford any mahr but one day, I will take you to umrah and hajj instead". Bear in mind, this brother has a full-time job and gets £2000 a month. He tried to romanticise his way out of giving this sister her right. Thankfully her father empowered her and explained the importance of Mahr. She didn't go ahead with the brother, because she realised her father was right and he was awfully stingy.
Mahr and Hajj/umrah are two different things and we shouldn't be shy or feel bad to ask for what we want.

I asked my dad a good mehr amount and my dad gave me away cheap.
Demand high mehr..men like a challenge and they always negotiate to lowball you. If your mehr is low then he also let's you go quickly and wont value you. My ex tried to manipulate me into asking lower money than my dad recommend, then brought his dad to convince me. I stood my ground with my original amount.
We married and the next manipulations was the "I am just joking - 2nd wife"...I made clear before marriage I dont want it and then he brings it up during our honey moon.
Men test as far as you let them. We are divorced and he abandoned his kid.
If they manipulate on mehr that's the first thing, then its other aspects of your life.
They love to quote the deen...ask for references. I am not kidding when they try bullshit games and playing you.
They use your lack of knowledge on deen against you.

Ofcos deen is important but not everything considering the fact that it's something spiritual.. character/morals are a great deal but usually we assume if one is religious they are automatically rightful. most of us just look religious but on the inside it's different.

Can't wait for this episode from the sisters.
question is how do we define large/ big mahr??
and i think sisters should be the one to set the mahr without external influence.
In my country families see their daughters as a getaway from poverty so for the start the mahr is like a poverty eradication fund but if a sister who really wants to get married and loves the person sets the mahr i think that would be best because am assuming if you know my annual income is $10000 then ur mahr won't be $10000 because after i pay you that then we are starving and homeless all year round 🤣
