Nice ! I'm using my old filament printer to do the same. It's a bit less detailed but for basic stuff it works well using the 'ironing' option of the slicer on the last layer (to get it smoother). Your video makes me want to go for a UV resin printer (but it's a lot of fuzz .. printing, cleaning printer, rincing piece, curing piece). I made a bunch of (Tandy Leather-) compatible 3D stamps, but pressing them clearly gives a better result than hitting them with a mallet. (Special mention to you, that is using a drill-press to press your snaps ! )
Man i just bought a 3d printer to see if i could make my own stamps. Thank you so much for the detail on making the stamp. I wasnt sure it was gonna work
What make and model is this printer and that curing unit. I'm just JUST getting into leatherwork and THIS is Exactly what i need. I was about to spend lots of money getting acrylic laser cut for what i need but THIS has my creative juices flowing like crazy. Thanks a ton for this man. I need to get back into Illustrator now. Haven't played with that since CS3 came out WAY back when.
Printer is an Elegoo Mars 2 Pro Mono MSLA. Curing unit is the Elegoo Mercury Plus 2 in 1 Washing and Curing Machine. If you can afford it, I would go for the Elegoo Saturn - simply because of the larger print surface. It came out after I had already bought the Mars. For larger prints (like the floral pattern seen briefly in the beginning) I use my Prusa Mk2. However, it's an FDM-type printer and isn't capable of fine detail of the resin machine. Btw: In the video I'm using the water-washable resin, but I actually prefer the "standard" type resin that washes with alcohol. Strangely, the water-washable has a stronger smell IMHO. Good luck!
If you don't mind, could you find me on FB and message me? I have some ideas for the 3D printer and wouldn't mind your input without having to post it here and see others come out with it before i perfect the craft. Bahahahahaha. Lee Pipper on FB in Toronto Canada
@@maplehedgehog789 Good call. I may end up selling the Mars for the Saturn. Now just start immersing yourself in UA-cam tutorials on resin 3D printing. The nuances of support structures take a lot of trial and error to learn.
That may be a bit short. The depth of the extrusion isn't that critical. But I usually take it up to about 1/8 inch. Just enough that the "background" of your stamp doesn't leave an impression. Good luck and thanks for watching!!
FDM printers (the type that uses filament) would have a hard time capturing the detail needed for stamps. Plus, I believe PLA would be too soft to withstand much pounding on.
Where did you get your outside corner dies? Are they available for purchase? I have a horrible time rounding edges. Thank you in advance for any help. Your videos and creations are amazing. Thank you for sharing

Great work!
Thanks for the visit!
Great idea for all kinds of custom stamping

I have an idea for a maker's mark, but it would require five separate stamps. If I can get one stamp to do the task of five, then I'm all for it!
Go for it! These printers are getting so cheap now (check Amazon).
@@RoadAgentLeather I definitely will when the budget allows! But until then, the necessary stamps and swivel will be rolling in around Christmas.
Neat idea! And another reason for me to either fix or replace my 3d printer
Your my hero bro!!!!!! Just got my tippmann boss :) followed your tutorials and it rules haha
Thanks for sharing, very informative and a lot of great information
Glad it was helpful!
Beautiful work, thanks for sharing

ARTIST NEVER PANT BY NUMBERS ORE MAKE PRINTS AND COPYS ITS ONE OF A KIND HAND MADE
wonderful video👍👍👍👍
👍 great video and nice idea!!
Nice! Very helpful.
I'd take the print and turn it into a mold then cast a brass or aluminum stamp for my long term repeat stamps.

Epic stuff!!!

Would a filament stamp work just as well as resin?

eBay is a great place to find inexpensive, imported leather tools. Just look up "leather rounded corner cutters"
my good sir, thank you for the wonderful video, I love the 3D printing suggestion..btw, can i warm up my leather with pizza rolls? lol jk
What watch are you wearing
it's just a timex explorer, but with a 60's French parachute troop band
A lot could if been excluded to show your process. A lot of talking and waisted time
