Just subscribed to your yt channel. Watching from San Francisco. Filipinos are friendly by nature so i am sure you will have good friends out there. Just be kind and osen.
The feeling is mutual. I'm a Filipino who moved to Canada (in BC to be specific) in 2021, been living here for more than 3 years now and it's really hard for me to make new friends. I'm now planning to move back to the Philippines in 2026.
the thing is. Even in the Philippines, there's tons of cultures. Evenry region is so widely different like it's a different country which makes it so beautiful.
I'm glad I grew up with Bisaya parents and grandma all who also spoke Tagalog. My parent's English sucked so that was probably why 😂 (I'm fluent in both yay)
If you want to learn tagalog you go out with your friends and see how they speak the tagalog and the action how to react to this words pilipino words is easy if you are willing to learn and have eagerness thats the feeling if you want to learn any language ,you know what you will be shame if you are pilipunoyou dont know how to speak tagalog you know why somaby foreigner know how to speak tagalog and visayas ,and ilonggo.
Whenever you talk to Filipinos and you feel like they are pulling away or you see them covering their mouths, well it’s because they realize their English is being challenged and many aren’t confident. I suggest you continue to pursue them. They will understand basic English no matter what.
The barrier was probably the cultural barrier. Once you understand, accept, and adapted the street culture in the PH you'll have an easier time making friends here. Your body language doesn't match the locals here, nothing wrong with you tho, it's just different. Hope you get to experience more of the Philippines soon. 🤙
Did your parents speak Tagalog with you in Canada? It all starts at home. One common trait of Filipinos abroad is to NOT teach Tagalog to their children. I guess it's the colonial mentality. You'll learn English outside of the house anyway.
want to learn tagalog faster? watch filipino movies or try to listen to filipino songs more often so u’ll get acquainted with the terms/words/body language… 😍
Young fellow, just be yourself hang around with locals manila province small towns.filipinos speak taglish, when I first came here in the US I never have difficulties hang around with cowboys good ol boy.and city people.small towns never meet any filipinos.
If Russian can learn tagalong so can you if you try there is a lesson to improve your learning you try to sing an opm song I think the best is to mingle with tagalog speaking group of people

living in a new country means you have to adjust to the people and the environment...
the country will not adjust to you!
