Ren is a musician, an artist and a poet. He puts himself deep into his music so he shares the good, the bad, the ugly, the naughty, the funny and he does it from a genuine place so it feels honest and real. He is (in my opinion) a generational talent.
REN was bitten by a tick at 19 but went misdiagnosed for 8 years. He has been battling Lymes disease and it has affected his brain and body in many ways.

To put it simply Ren is a living legend a once in a lifetime type of artist. I am just waiting for everyone else in the world to find Ren. I can think of 2 maybe 3 songs I've heard in 40 years that have made me cry this is one of them.
Oh for sure and it's completely valid but I find when debates, arguments or conversations just turn into swearing matches, it just doesn't get anyone anywhere. Just feels like a cheapened experience
When I was in High School (way back in the early 90s) I took a special English media class. We spent a whole week or so talking about the impact of curse words in media and how it can be effective or offensive. I agree with you. A well placed "f*ck" can be incredibly effective and Ren knows exactly what he's doing. Great reaction. Really liked your take on everything. I subbed. Hoping to see more Ren on your page, as this is only the beginning. Just wait until you see what he can REALLY do. :)
Welcome to the wonderful world of REN, our lyrical genius and beautiful soul. Ren is simply amazing and gives Hope to many people like me. Subbed and thanks for doing this masterpiece and hopefully you do more Ren ❤
Renegades Unite! Can we all petition UA-cam in some way, to get the captions to Hi-Ren corrected? Oh! And great reaction. Can't wait to see you dive into the rabbit hole. ❤
Very thoughtful and restrained reaction. Ren speaks to all of us. I hope this song has piqued your interest and you will treat yourself to more Ren. P S . He can be cheeky and fun too.
Musically Ren is a genius - there are so many little subtexts in this song that are easy to miss; the initial vocalisations he does in the intro occasionally hit slightly flat, whereas the same section at the end are all pretty much pitch perfect. I don't know if you spotted it, but this was done live (the lapelle mic and amped up guitar), and it was done in a single take all the way through. The only cuts are between the cameras (there's four - three on tripods and one hand held). Check out his other stuff - even the stuff with The Big Push - a band he busked with in the UK. To my understanding, he's currently (still) in Canada for treatment for Lyme's Disease, which was misdiagnosed for years. Oh - and the bit about them never playing this on the radio? To the best of my knowledge, it's not been played on the radio, but his last album (Sickboi - released independantly) did make it to number one, at least in the UK. Andrew Lloyd Webber has called him one of the greatest musical writers, The Verve's bassist heard his cover of "Bittersweet Symphony" and sent him his bass guitar..... And as it says in the comments of the original video - he'll never be the next Jimi Hendrix, but he is the first Ren, and there's no one like it out there. I've lost count of how many reactions to this I've watched since I first discovered the song myself a month or so ago - any time I see a new reaction I've never seen before to this song come up, I watch it straight away... Thank you for the reaction.
Heavy treatment in Canada caused a reaction, and they had to stop. Ren had a full-blown reoccurrence of his worst symptoms and is back in the UK; only recently just after a few weeks is stabilized again. He will go get different treatments elsewhere in the new year.
@@majbrathis treatment came to an end, it didn’t cause a reaction, his relapse came while working back in England and he returned to Canada, to the same place, to work with the same clinic again.
Alas it is not a single take the video is spliced from the multiple takes they did (and from the THREE cameras). The audio is however from a single take.
Renegade here with my sub. Moved to add my perpective as a former therapist. I have never worked with soneone who had psychotic episodes and seen them come out the other side with such empathy, authenticity, and puropse. I truly think he came here to do this, walking that knife edge of psychological vulnerability. He had issues with hallucinations as a child, adhd, and drug use. At 19 he got really sick and was virtually bedridden until 26, when he got a stem cell transplant that helped him enough to perform. But he wrote a thousand songs during those years in bed and ran health vlogs. He promised not to leave the chronically ill behind if he fought his way through. He is still fighting Lyme disease, autoimmunity brain damage MCAS and other conditions. He spent 3 months in psychosis at 25. He is 34 now and releasing 3rd album called Slaughterhouse . I think react to Sick Boi next . It is a very meaningful song to him.
Thanks for sharing your insight. I've always had a real passion for psychology and hearing what you've said makes me want to pick it back up again. Truthfully I will and am excited to look at more of his material for sure!
Ren proves that you don’t need a huge budget to make an impactful video. He is such a perfectionist, every shot, move, expression is though out so that when they shoot it is exactly what he saw in his head. You won’t regret this journey. I am 70 and can’t remember an artist that has affected me more.
Also a little information on the filming. They did not have permission to use the site. The building owner heard them and attempted to kick them out. Ren pleaded to have some time. He had 45 total minutes to get this take. And he can sing. I mean sing sing. You will see. However, his music is raw, authentic, and unapologetic. He handles politics, capitalism, mental health, physical health body image, suicide etc. he will swear. In some songs more than others. Everything he does has a purpose. From the song structure, lyricism, delivery, visual arts, theming, and obviously greater message. For me Ren out his struggles out on a table for us to see and experience then he tells how all humanity suffers. And all humanity has hope. It’s a battle within ourselves.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Ren! If you are interested to watch and listen to more, us Renegades will swarm in and take you by the hand. ☺️ I guess it’s fair to give a warning about mental health before this video. But there also should be mentioned that this song, as well as many other of Ren’s songs, have proved beneficial for many, many people with mental health problems and also for those who suffer from autoimmunity, ME, Lyme and other chronical illnesses. So a warning for refraining from watching is also in place
Great reaction. I'm sure it's been said, but the audio was done live. 4 video takes. Wanted more, but the person who owned the garage was getting noise complaints and gave them 30 more minutes. They tended to ask for forgiveness rather than permission on video shoots location choices at times. I want you to hear more Ren as he is multi-talented and be respectful of your integrity and morals on the content in the songs you choose to view. I would therefore recommend: -Wade in the Water/Nina Simone/Troubles mashup with his old band The Big Push busking on the streets. -Back on 74/Message in A Bottle live retake -Earned It/Man's World/Falling mashup busking with Sam Tompkins (another *incredible* voice) -How to be Me live version featuring Chinchilla -For Joe live (warning- some cursing and is heavy content, but the musicianship and lyricism are fantastic) -Mackay (this is an instrumental of Ren playing piano. It's in the description or pinned comment detailing the origin of it.) On The Big Push channel there are some great ones. -Swan Song live -Englishman in New York live -Praise You live ...well, really any of their live covers or originals. All well done. All string instrument players can also sing. Apologies for the long post. Really appreciate your reaction. I'm sure other commentors have talked about his health history. Hope you enjoy if you choose to explore what Ren has to offer.
Yup... thank you for the warning. Can't listen to it today, it's turned into a very emotional day so I'll listen when I'm feeling stronger. Much love to you.
You haven't heard him sing yet😂 check him out busking with his band the big push, or Sam Tompkins or his duets with chinchilla. His voice will surprise you. Love the reaction, hopefully the Renegades will support your journey as well. Merry Christmas brother
Ren puts the lyrics in the comments, so it's best to check those out. The captions can't keep up with him. And sometimes they are "spoilers". Love the reaction, though. Welcome to the Reniverse!
@@grieverproductions2022 The captions to this song are notoriously bad. On many songs they are better than here, but often have mistakes and can't keep up when he starts fast rapping.

We ALL have this inner battle between the doubt and the confidence, the dark and the light......some louder and a stronger doubtful side than others, but we all have this inner struggle
Studies have shown that curse words are not because of low vocabulary. Oftentimes, the higher the IQ, the more they curse. Like you said, sometimes a curse word is needed to portray feelings accurately.
Haha yeah didn't realize that until later. I tend to leave them on but was unprepared for the faster spoken sections that absolutely could not keep up 😂😂
I don't know if you do more than one song for an artist? If you do can I suggest Rens, Back on 74 Message in a bottle retake for singing and guitar and The Hunger for rap just to show his range . He has over 260 tracks on his UA-cam channel
Great reaction!👏❤️ I hope you continue to react to Ren. It would be interesting to see you react to songs where he sings more. His busking videos are great. And his voice in his "Fred Again mashup" is emotional and awesome!!🤩🔥❤️ Subbed in hope of more Renactions!😁 Happy Holiday greetings from Sweden 🇸🇪
Yeah Ren doesn't have a problem with swearing, including the use of the c word on occasion. It's not there to make up for any lack in his vocabulary. His grasp of the English language is poetic and he has a way of putting words together to express vulnerable feelings and experiences that often have not been shared so starkly. Some of his music is shocking, and much of it deals with taboo subjects and strong emotions. In my opinion it would be diminished if he were to limit his vocabulary. Ren, particularly since the release of Hi Ren, has gathered a devoted group of 'RENegades' who resonate with the message he is sharing. Last year when he put out his album Sick Boi, he reached number 1 in the UK despite being a sweary independent artist who has been suffering with chronic physical and mental health issues for many years. They played his song Uninvited on the radio on the album chart show, as it is one of the few songs without any swear words. Hilariously, it happens to be a very cheeky song full of innuendo. I agree that the strain you heard in Ren's singing voice is due to emotion. This is obviously a very personal song. He has an excellent voice, as you will see in other songs of his. Maybe check out his 'retake' of Back on 74/Message in a bottle for a good recent example. He was a busking musician for years, and there are many recordings on his channel, and also on that of his former band, the Big Push. I encourage you to dive into his back catalogue. There is so much of rare value. Be sure to check out his song Chalk Outlines (live) with Chinchilla, an excellent female singer from London.
If you want, you can sprinkle against wind, but take the consequences. That is people are attracted to golden ratio, others puts them in unease. It's about 5:8. Being a little spider in the corner, won't draw as many people in as you might deserve .
Looking forward to you’re reaction. This one stunned me. Please check out Sissel Kyrkebo Slow down. A fantastic storyteller, different genre however. Treat yourself 😊

I need to say that I don't agree. If mental illness is something you're sensitive to...then this is something you NEED to listen to. Just my opinion (though I hope not... ;) )
I'm sorry no one gave you the heads up on subtitles. We usually recommend you not use them unless they are imbedded in the video. They are usually not very good as well a being distracting and human nature causes us to read ahead which spoils some of the impact.

I don't know if you do more than one song for an artist? If you do can I suggest Rens, Back on 74 Message in a bottle retake for singing and guitar and The Hunger for rap just to show his range . He has over 260 tracks on his UA-cam channel
Absolutely you can! I do a few usually so that will get added to my list 😊
man you are such a nerd, glad to find you! 🔥❤️
🔥🔥🔥 Reaction My G 😎❤️💛💚🖤✊🏿🇯🇲🏴
Great reaction!👏❤️ I hope you continue to react to Ren. It would be interesting to see you react to songs where he sings more. His busking videos are great. And his voice in his "Fred Again mashup" is emotional and awesome!!🤩🔥❤️
Subbed in hope of more Renactions!😁
Happy Holiday greetings from Sweden 🇸🇪
The room is a mess on the left but tidy on the right
Made by his hand, all part of his plan.”
Renegades, whose hand and whose plan?
Ren❤❤❤❤
Thank you ❤
Great reaction brother
Always love your reactions!
Subscribing, for more REN! ❤❤❤❤
Ren is a once in a generation talent, a modern day John Lennon on steroids. Every thing I've heard from him is 🔥
RENEGADES SWARM ✌️❤️
'Let it be, let it be. Quote John Lennon.' One of Ren's many influences!
You have no idea what's about to happen to your channel...lol #Renegades are here
Given the interest in vocal registers, is it too soon to recommend Ren and Sam Tompkins performing 'Earned it/Man's World '?
Definitely not. I will add it to the list 😊
@@grieverproductions2022 @oistroplex is right, it's an incredible performance from both of them.
You should definitely check out Eden by Ren that one blew my mind and made me look at the world in a different prospective.
I will add it to the list!
Ohboyohboyohboy
If you want, you can sprinkle against wind, but take the consequences.
That is people are attracted to golden ratio, others puts them in unease. It's about 5:8. Being a little spider in the corner, won't draw as many people in as you might deserve .
Looking forward to you’re reaction. This one stunned me.
Please check out Sissel Kyrkebo Slow down. A fantastic storyteller, different genre however. Treat yourself 😊
Will do 😊😊

Someone should have mentioned not to use closed captions, perhaps the person that suggested it? Anyway, you may not need captions anyway.
I need to say that I don't agree. If mental illness is something you're sensitive to...then this is something you NEED to listen to. Just my opinion (though I hope not... ;) )
Not just your opinion x
I'm sorry no one gave you the heads up on subtitles. We usually recommend you not use them unless they are imbedded in the video. They are usually not very good as well a being distracting and human nature causes us to read ahead which spoils some of the impact.
