Thanks Shaz! What I love so much about your tutorials is that you keep it so simple which is great for those of us who don't know that much about makeup and aren't very good at it. And always enjoy your heart to heart chats. I have been a people pleaser for as long as I can remember. I agree with one of the other commenters that it's a learned behavior/coping pattern. I became hyper-sensitive at a young age to not wanting to upset people. One of the best things I learned from a therapist is that we can't be responsible for other people's feelings or happiness. If they are going to get upset or angry at you for whatever, then that is on them and not you. Understanding that has been very freeing for me. Hugs!

People pleasing is a learnt trauma response / coping mechanism. Our overprotective brain wants love, acceptance and validation from others in order to feel safe when really we need to give that love to ourselves and learn to self regulate our nervous system. We can’t control others, we can only control our response to our own beliefs, thoughts & feelings and we have the power to choose a new narrative x
Love your chatty GRWM videos! I was a nurse for 37 years and I suppose just naturally a people pleaser and wanted to be liked. As I got older I realized that what people think of me has more to do with them than me. I still don't want to be rude, but I feel more comfortable just behaving like I want to behave and if you don't like it I've done my best and it's your problem! We need you to be YOU Shaz, there's only one of you and we really like you. ❤

I agree totally with what you have said in this video, and I suppose we all have to (try), and manage how we feel in ourselves. We can't change people's opinions of us, but knowing you are trying your best and not deliberately trying to hurt or trouble others is all we can do, and take comfort from that 😊.
Gee I'm late to the party watching this and catching up with you. I've been away (which was wonderful), but I've also been struggling with my emotions too. Quite a few very 'down' days. Awful.

I was a terrible people pleaser when I was young. I still am now, but to a lesser extent. If people don't like me, I waste less time overthinking what I did wrong and worrying about it. You can't please everyone, and the older you get, the more you realise that life is too short to waste time worrying about it. xxx

Amazing !! I used to feel like I wanted everyone I met to like me as well but now that I’m much older63, I just do t care anymore. I used to always wa t to plz everyone so they can like me now I have the attitude that if u don’t like me , that’s YOUR PROBLEM. You just get over it after u hit a certain age. Esp nowadays with the way ppl are so damned evil. I stay away from

Hallo Shaz, ich bin genau wie du! Warum bleiben wir stehen mit diesen Leuten, die war gar nicht mögen. Und warum überlege ich mir noch Stunden oder sogar Tage was ich hätte tun oder lassen sollen, nach dem Abendessen mit Freunden?! Schade so sind wir immer gestresst, wenn wir unter Menschen sind!🙈 Ich weiss auch nicht wann ich so geworden bin! Aber wir müssen üben, dass es uns egal wird nicht von jedem geliebt zu werden! Viel Kraft und Glück dabei!

I am also a people pleaser. I never want to rock the boat or upset anyone. I don’t like conflict so I’ll just stay silent. I often feel awkward or looked down upon and insecure around people I don’t know well. They are my own hang ups. I’m not sure how to get over it. I’m 56 now so I’m sure I won’t. lol. So it’s not just you. I think it’s pretty common.
I sympathize with you, I really do!. I'm taking small steps, and the first step is being aware of when you are doing it and trying to make a small change in your response to something. xx
