Sohyang is, far beyond a sweet Christian lady with the gift from God of a voice that is actually a musical instrument. In fact, she is a musical genius who can see in a song it's true message. She then succeeds in arranging it in her special way to present it to us with perfection; of emotion, of expression, and of musicality. Speechless is the proper response. Who can put into words what she does? I am also convinced that she must be seen, because her singing ability is almost secondary to her persona. She wants us to experience her message and we must watch her present it to us to truly receive it.

As many reactors and vocal coaches have said, there are no words to describe Sohyang's voice. She stated plainly in 2012 that her voice is from God. I've never heard a better explanation.

The older performance here was excellent but in fact the recent one is better whatsoever this song is too easy for her.
Her recent KBS performances sound more improved on this song.

Beautiful song, originally co-written and sung in 1984 by Jennifer Rush. Celine Dion’s version of it 10years later in 1994 took it to even greater success. This was sung beautifully by Sohyang…in my humble opinion. 🙌❤As per your request, may I suggest another act for you to react to ….Sohyang’s fellow countrymen, South Korean male crossover vocal quartet Forestella. They sing a beautiful version of Arirang Alone on OPEN CONCERT series dated 20200815 . This song was also magnificently performed and interpreted by Sohyang on 3rd April 2015 on Immortal Songs 2 also KBS channel, but delivered like only she can! It will really transport you. There are 36 versions of this song…these 2 are my favourites so far of the versions I’ve heard. From what I can gather Arirang Alone is an old song about lost love, separation and sorrow, a yearning for reunification,…with particular relevance still today due to the geopolitical situation the peninsula is facing….it tugs at one’s heartstrings even if you don’t know the meaning of the words. Sohyang’ s version has English subtitles…..I would really love for you to react separately to these 2 suggestions.If it’s blocked , maybe another by Forestella to try is the Moonlight of Silla (Shilla) performed on 18th August 2018 or perhaps try Footprints In The Sand on 10th November 2018 …both also on Immortal Songs 2. All are spectacular.
Vocal quartet Forestella, a crossover group. They sing in multiple genres and languages. Angel on KBS Open Concert, dated 20190915. Or Hijo De La Luna on same series dated 20200524..in Korean.
Sohyang is one of the best female vocalists on the planet so please give her the respect she deserves and pronounce her name properly. I know it's not easy for Americans but it's basically pronounced So Young.
I don’t believe he was deliberately disrespectful …until one hears korean names spoken a few times it is hard to know how to pronounce vowel sounds in a language you’re not familiar with. …just like so many other languages out there. And it’s not only difficult for Americans. Just kindly and patiently sounding it out the way you did is the nicer way to go….mostly only works if both parties are commenting and reading in the same language….gets lost in translation otherwise. This is his 2nd reaction I believe? Perhaps guide him to where he can learn how to pronounce the names that are new to him.
@@hildommarwhich is why I said I know it can be difficult for Americans. IMHO however you should respect the artists you are reacting to enough to learn how to pronounce their names.

소향의 곡도 너무 좋지요.
당연히 수많은 사람들에게 각인된 셀린의 노래는 거의 넘사벽이지요.
수많은 팝송의 히트곡들이 대부분 그럴 것입니다. 다른 가수들은 자신의 버전으로 달리 불러야 차별화도 되고 비교되지 않는 것이지요.
소향도 마찬가지일 것입니다. 셀린의 버전과 거의 비슷하지만 본인의 색깔을 입힌 것이 확연합니다.
그러나 소향이 더 좋다는 사람도 많고 심지어 캐나다 사람 마저도 자신의 나라 가수보다 더 좋다고 하는 사람도 있으니
취향은 존중되이야 하겠습니다.
그 만큼 소향이 대단한 가수임에 틀림없다는 평가가 주류를 이루고 있는 듯 합니다.
