- Can't decide between Spotify and Apple Music? This in-depth comparison breaks it ALL down. Not just songs, but podcasts, audiobooks, sound quality, those weird AI features, and even hidden costs.
In this video, I cover:
Music catalog sizes... do they REALLY matter?
Is lossless audio worth caring about?
Which one helps you find AMAZING new music
Spotify's all-in-one approach vs. Apple's separate apps
The bonus features (Apple Music Sing anyone?)
Which is truly cheaper... even with that free Spotify tier
Whether you're totally new to streaming or just curious if the grass is greener on the other service, this guide helps you find the best fit!

I wish Spotify would sort out the shuffle feature! I have over a hundred tracks on my like playlist but Spotify persists in playing the same tracks over again day after day .
Oof I’ve heard a few people saying that.
If you look closer at the shuffle icon, there is two versions. One with sparkles and one without. The one without is normal shuffle which should fix this problem.
This has been corrected for about a year now, just click the shuffle button again so you see the sparkles icon appear over the shuffle icon
@@Lsoutlaw700it doesn’t, this has been a problem before the other option with the sparkles even got added
@@ric.e214 no its still a problem. the sparkling smart shuffle actually ADDS recommendations to the list lol...
I’ve used Spotify for years. I do like the cleaner look of Apple Music, but everyone in my family plan prefers Spotify as they’ve also used it for years. Any time I’ve used a trial of AM, I’ve never had issues finding the same music selection I had on Spotify.
I've had both, and the more I've used apple Music, the more amazing recommendations I get. I find so many albums that I fall in love with. spotify has been recommending music that I just kept skipping and began to listen to my typical music, and I stopped broadening my palate. I used to crap on AM recommendations, but now i prefer them, especially since the platform is more album oriented.
The only real critique I have of AM is the “Play Next” option instead of “Add to Queue” like most streaming platforms. Other than that, AM is amazing. I love that it prioritizes music whereas Spotify tries to juggle between music, audiobooks, podcasts etc. The UI comes off a bit cluttered and busy for my taste.
I’ve tried AM three times and go back to Spotify every time because of the music discovery algorithm being better. I do like the less clutter feeling of AM and new collaboration features but need the recommendations improved.
Apple Music also has personal radio stations for discovery and casual listening.
I have a question about the amount of songs....
How is an album that appears 2 or 3 times as Original, Remastered, and Upsized counted??
Same with bands that have several best of albums.....
I’ve always liked the 70s band Sweet....but while they’ve had several studio albums the Best Of or Greatest Hits albums are far more....
so my question is, is a track on the original album now counted several times as it is added to subsequent remakes or best of versions?
Just a thought. 🤷♂️🙏
one of the best videos i have come across on apple music vs spotify, and believe me i have watched many!
You forgot about Classical and One subscription services on Apple Music.
Even in my shitty car speakers, AM sounds better to me. Even with the same EQ between Spotify and AM, AM has a small, but noticeably different and better quality. Like AM is less muddy the more I turn it up, if that makes sense
The only thing I Spotify is vastly superior is their recommendations, their algorithm is something out of this world.
Not anymore
I’ve had both for years and lately I find myself using Apple Music 90% of the time. Audio quality and the cleaner look alone make it a clear winner for me. Sadly, I can’t drop Spotify because I’m paying for a family plan in which there are people who can’t afford it lol.
Why don’t you switch to Apple Music’s family plan? It’s cheaper tho.
I go back and forth until the other one offers 3 months for 1
only reason im not switching to apple music is because i cant be bothered to transfer all my 10k+ songs from spotify... BUT THATS THE WAY THE COOKIE CRUMBLES I GUESS
ı've used spotify for years. Spotify becomes a habit more easily because of the app usage or the app theme design idk. Easy to use. Apple music need is ' like button' . Not add to archive or add favorite or add list. This was one of the problems I encountered when I just switched to the Apple music application. Im just staying AM for now bc im getting use to it but i think this is just one of the problems for AM. Sound quality/ i can tell the difference btw high quality AM and Spotify sounds. AM much louder and much cleaner to me(My device İphone idk maybe thats effect things) but one of my complains is the Apple's AirPods Pro 2nd Generation has released Type C and it supports lossless. I have lightling ://// If I had known I would have waited :D Spotify on computer ( with spicetify), apple music on phone. This is my opinion for now, maybe I'll go back to spotify idk.
I think the favorite list/button is the equivalent of liked songs/list
@@shmohrm The word difference still seems strange to me. It's hard to get used to. Favorite is a strong word for me i guess 😄 I like that song but it is my favorite ? idk but i like it soooo i added to archive 😅
You forgot to mention the Spotify Student plan offers Hulu w/ ads for free. That’s a huge perk.
Apple Music Student also offers Apple TV for free.
If Spotify FINALLY DECIDES to bring us the fabled HiFi Tier, it would be game over!
I'll give AM a shot soon. I just currently love the Spotify algorithm too much. I've NEVER seen anything as targeted and precise as that algorithm. It just gets the exact stuff I'm into. Rediscovered long lost songs and found new ones.
Spotify need to add music genre feature..
I use Pandora the most. 🤷🏻♂️ I still use Spotify once in a while. I rarely use Apple Music
I was using Apple Music for a long time and then thought i would try Spotify. After a week i opened Apple to find all my playlist had gone. I use song shift so got most back but just for the deletion i am going to stick with Spotify. The way Apple keep you hooked in and paying ‘or else’ approach i think is getting a little old and starting to crack at the seams globally, not just in the Music app but just the undercurrent of how they treat their customers.
Boy do I appreciate reading your comment.
I’ve been paying for Spotify for about a decade now. I was considering switching to Apple Music, but your experience is a huge red flag. I tend to put a lot of time into tailoring my playlists. No way am I running that risk.
I hate how Spotify will interrupt a song to play an advertisement. At least play the advertisement after the song ends! If that's supposed to make me love it enough to pay for a subscription, they are mistaken. It annoys me enough to send me to a competitor.
Apple Music is offering me 150₹ per month family plan with 6 members with individual accounts. Is it a good deal as me and my sister are only gonna use apple music.
Is it better than Spotify?
AM is better than spotify for user interface and audio quality.
Spotify is better for socializing and discovering new music (their algorithm for finding you new music based on your listens is vastly superior)
Both are great and if that's a good deal to you then go for it. You're not going to miss much from spotify if you tend to stick to the music you know and like
The social aspect and better discovery are really what keeps me locked in with Spotify. All my friends use it and sharing songs and playlists is just so much easier. Apple Music does sound a bit better when I use my wired headphones, but it's not enough to sway me.
UPDATE: Actually back on Apple Music for now. Audio quality is just so nice, and I prefer not having pods and audiobooks clog up my music app.
IMO, discovery works better on Apple Music than on Spotify. You have a Discovery Station as well as a New Music Mix to discover new music all the time, unlike on Spotify where you get new music only once a week. With these stations it is also often very easy to just start listening to music without thinking much about what music you want to listen to right now
Apple is way better but i dont need any of them recommending me anything.. i know what i like and what is good already.. dont give a f about that part @@dnvyl
Didn't even start watching the video, and I already know the best option is YT Music
thanks you made me remember that spotify is compatible to cast and apple is not
The sound of the music and quality are making a sense. So in this term Apple Music is better
That's why I subscribe to QOBUS and TIDAL
In my opinion Spotifys music discovery has been absolutely atrocious for a long time.
When I listen a song I like the discover weekly is full of that kind of songs immediately. It doesn't seem to understand that if I mainly listen my liked songs it should suggest something similar to those.
Man ur pretty cute! Nice video as well lol
Apple music is trash won't let me play my purchased music just skips through every song, when I search for the song it does the same. Anything I haven't purchased plays no problem. Should've never switched to apple Samsung is waaaaaay better
Wtf ? Check your album tab there you’ll find your purchased music and you can listen to it! “Apple won’t let me listen my purchased music” sounds stupid!
Ya... i don't need Spotify to recommend crappy music to me.. i know what music i like already and what is good. I knew this would be another video of a dude saying.. "apple doesn't recommend like Spotify does" GOOD. apple is way better imo.. who cares about it finding music.. i do that myself. dur
you are obviously someone who is stuck in their ways. some people don’t want to pay $11 a month to have the same songs on repeat. discovering new music is a good thing
Actually people are paying for hi res audio, why would anyone pay for spotify now when you can just listen on youtube or sound cloud?? Spotify trash bruh, and they are a laughing stock all those subscriber are getting scammed when you can listen to lossy music on youtube for free, and yt premium is a much better deal then Spotify..
@@BG4life13 i don’t think anyone cares lol you’re saying its trash to make yourself feel better but spotify is still the #1 streaming service 😂 ive been going back and forth and the difference is not that big to even being arguing about
@@isaiahbrkins1518 you prob don't even have the right equipment to appreciate lossless music.. bruh even apple music sounds louder and clearer when plugged into your car.. and yeah they might be now, but pretty soon Soundcloud gonna destroy they asses. they barely pay artists bruh and people finally waking up to that fact. I don't care a bit bout shitify 🤣 oh yeah and I bet that premium subscription doesn't include ad free podcasts 😂😂😂😂😂
@@BG4life13You do realize that Spotify recommends you awesome music if you do it right. 😂
