After the cab driver apologised, he went back to his old ways. :-(
yeah, but these people have families and lives and loved ones. It's so unfortunate that they have to do this to take care of themselves and their families. :/
So, it's ok to steal and scam, instead of working harder, since it has a "noble" excuse? Now we know why you don't put your name and face here..
+Los wide awake yeah. But driving a taxi doesn't make that much money when you're trying to raise more than one person, just saying
+starchy abyss I do not condone scamming. But these are ordinary people with lives just lied you and I beyond their scams...It is unfortunate p, but they may feel it is the only way to get by, even if they would be able to make without scamming...
Sorry I don't buy that. It is pure greed just like big corporate rip offs. The only reason they do it cause they know they will not get caught, they know tourist are highly unlikely to file police cases. Reporting police cases is not worth the time and hassle for the relatively small loss. You factor in the language barrier, and fear itself they might have received the fake currency from some other scammer earlier and could be held liable will prevent tourist from reporting such crimes.
"I work everyday to feed my kids". Using your kids as an excuse is shameful and id expect a scumbag to use that as justification.
his fat stomach is his kid.
I often hear the excuse "I want to feed my kids."
Ya I hate hearing that shit like dude you're not the only person with kids. Nor did anyone tell you to have a bunch of kids you apparently can't afford. What about the kids of the people you're scamming??
He probably left them so he can't pay child support
I won't tell the police,I'll upload it to youtube
jejejje lol made it worse for him :P
It's more help for the 1.2 million people to see this and be aware of it. Then for one guy to go to jail when there's probably 100s of others doing the same scam
Lmao
They did blur his face though.

What ever happened to the old days when taxi drivers would just take you on the scenic route to get at your pockets?

@Mr Dub Crazy Nice😂😂
One scam I had to deal with when working at the first drive-thru window at Burger King is when someone pulls to the first window, hands me a $50 or $100, I give them the correct change back, they start to drive off to the next window, then quickly reverse and claim I didn't give them the correct change.
Having worked at Burger King for 3.5 years, this happened to me twice. First time, I fell for it and my drawer was $20 short. The second time I knew better. The correct and only way to resolve it is to remove the drawer and count ALL the money while the customer waits. If the drawer is even (as it should be), we know the person is lying. Even so, this is an inconvenience to the other customers waiting on their food, and we can't call the police, because the customer can pretend it was a misunderstanding, so no one ends up winning.
Huge shame people have to be deceitful, but I suspect it will only get worse.
another way is to clearly count their change in front of them before handing it back and make them acknowledge it is the right change. This way it's impossible for them to come back and argue with you.
kaladost Counting the money in front of customers is a good point, although I have to say I don't like that method, because I'd have to count someone's change for E-V-E-R-Y single customer, since I have no way of knowing who will use this trick ahead of time. I worked rush hour, and my manager valued speed. A few times, I was chided for being too polite to customers by engaging in quick pleasantries, such as "How have you been, Mr/Mrs. So-and-So?" I feel awful, but over time, I had to tone this behavior down, but customers who frequented the drive-thru who knew me would take the initiative and ask me how I've been, and I'd have to find a way to push them through without being rude. Working rush hour sucks! Same pay for more work! My favorite part of the job was interacting with the customers, so I wish I had worked night shift, but oh well.
well yeah, I can understand that would be difficult in rush hour loll Maybe just do it if they handed you like a 50 or 100 bills
Hahaha i used to do this
I was taught a different method. You say.. That's $10.18 sir OUT OF FIFTY and your change is $39.82.. Then place the fifty on the register. After he accepts the change. Then put it in the drawer. If he tries to trick you then. Pull out the fifty. You KNOW there's no mistake. This was meant to keep US from making a mistake, not necessarily the customer.
I fell into a taxi trap in Buenos Aires 15 years ago. Mierdas! Traumatic as hell; I felt lucky to get out of there alive!
Yes, buenos aires kinda sucks, other provinces in Argentina are better places to visit and more secure ones, like mendoza, cordoba or misiones
"Its funny because, now that youve ripped me off, now i trust you" lmao...Thanks for being so honest about being dishonest😂
TF was that??
Interesting videos and these cab drivers are idiots. The more they do that, the more people will switch over to Uber, which is completely save because there is no transaction in real money.
+Der Dudelino We don't have Über here yet.
+Carlos Sebastián Navarrete ha ha, waiting for it?
Uber is next to start operating here in Buenos Aires :D
+Der Dudelino welcome to argentina you should never come here
+matias frank never come to buenos aires, the rest of the country is fine :D
Argentina is out of my traveling plans...beacause of this vídeo.
Have a GREAT day.
You should still have called the police. Just as he pulled a trick on you.
+psilocyberspaceman you realize that this is his job right? Part of the deal with the scammers revealing the secrets behind the trick is that he wont get the police involved, makes it a lot easier to work with them that way.
Mrcaremal5 Yea, okay.
+Mrcaremal5 they clearly stated in the video that they could call the police and the driver was aware and scared of it. I don't know why you're trying to defend this scammer with arguments like it's his work when clearly it isn't. His real is to drive a taxi and he clearly violates the policies of the company by scamming people and taking the money for himself.
@@tentaklerna2848 Sure that it is not a company policie to do this trick ? :D i would not so sure. In some countrys the clocks work a different way. hehe

''I work every day to feed my kids'' XDXDXDXD
You’re channel has restored my faith in humanity.....
Thank you guys for uploading this show! Binge watched these!
This happened to my mum in Egypt luckily we all got out the taxi fast enough
We had a taxi driver try this when i was in argentina, but my friend there is a cop, he called someone and a bunch of cops came beat the taxi driver up and threw him down an alley. Then they smashed all his taxi with their sticks, then they just walked away and told us to "go"
BUT yes before you pay a taxi iphone a pic of the note and record urself giving it to the driver, and DO call the cops, the drivers know if they get caught its a beating they will get.
CK Wunch The oficers cant "Beat up" a taxi driver just because he is scamming people, he/she gets fined and arrested, and i know because i live in "Quilmes" witch is located in Buenos aires, mabye they changed the law or something but correct me if i'm wrong.
Niko Burke Cisternas Just because they are not allowed to - did not stop them. I told you what i saw.
CK Wunch Ok then, just unfamilliar with what was happening.
The written law may forbid beatings, but cops on the streets do it anyway, as CK Wunch reports. The question is, do Argentine judges punish the police for breaking that law? Can the bad taxi driver go to a lawyer?
+Niko Burke Cisternas you dont understand the corruption in argentina.
guys please stop yelling 'fake' - the video is to educate, not entertain
A year before I was born my parents were traveling through Mexico in a rental car. Somewhere outside the city, they came across a giant log blocking the road. A friendly young man quickly walked up and explained they would gladly move the log out of the way for them, and it would only cost them $20 😂😂😂
After my parents drove past, they placed the log back in it's place so it was again blocking the entire road.
Now THAT'S a scam!
I dont buy the "I'm just trying to feed my kids" reponse. But that aside, I love watching these scams on youtube. They're verrrry informative to tourists that want to travel the world. Keep posting scam videos to alert other people.
this guy is a legend !!!! the only youtuber that I have seen that actually has brains, well done lad
You should have so many more subs. Great videos. Great understanding of what is taken place and you are chill af with them. Hope you see this comment please keep making great content and have a great day.
Appreciate your work. It highly raises general awareness.
Glad he was open about it.
Funny when you expose him and you’re there like “yeah” 😂😂😂😂hahaha
of course he pulls out the classic "need to feed my kids" story when he's caught out. I bet they all bring out some story when they're caught out. making them sound like they're the victims.
It's probably true
Just tell them that you need to feed your own kids too?
scorfie1 reminded me off the cabbie in ‘Total Recall’ with the four arms - “I’ve got five kids to feed”.
to avoid this scam, always have change for the taxi and give him the money after you get out of the cab, from the front passenger window
that way you see everything and when he tries to pull a trick you can walk away
WTF!!!.......UR CHANNEL IS DEFINITELY WORTH SUBSCRIBING......GREAT GOING BRO.....U R DOING A GRT JOB.
2:03 - _"I work everyday to feed my kids."_ - The way he says that, make me laugh! It reminds me a old Mexican in western movies.
I used to watch this show on tv but now im watching it on youtube see how time changes
I wish I was a part of this operation. this is the kind of thing I really love, investigating peoples behavior..
Excellent video. Thank you.
1:32 sounds like a magic trick XDD
This just happened to me in Bogota yesterday. The driver crumbled the bill up and said the paper wasn't correct, then handed the note back to me. He had the fake in his hand and switched them during the crumbling move. My Colombian friend told me to avoid being scammed, just look at the last two numbers of the note you're paying with, and say "Here's a 10,000 Peso note ending in 7-8." He won't be able to give you back a different bill, and won't even try it.
This happened to me when I was there TWICE!!!! But they would switch it with a ripped note instead. So annoying. One guy chased us with a crowbar after we refused to pay again. This was back in 2014, before Uber.
oh wow! this channel is awesome!
I am Argentinian and it's a shame to see my own people perform this acts. Unfortunatelly this kind of scams happens to locals too =(. Please don't think we are all like that and please, if you come here, go for nature =)
If anyone thinks that you are all like that, they are idiots. I don't care where they are from, other countries have scams similar to this and much worse. :)
***** Exactly. You don't owe anybody an explanation.
Every country has this shit going, every single fucking one.
Except maybe San Marino. Or Vatican. In Vatican they deal with souls mostly.
Zamolxes77 Where do you idiot live or travel?
No ordinary European would trick you with fake money.
(Gypsies excepted..)
Even having a copy of money will bring you serious trouble with the law..
Pricing in cab is also regulated by the law.
Civilised manners isn't that difficult
There’s crooked people of all races and all over the world
I'm NEVER falling for that AGAIN!!! Lol.
Dude you're amazing.. Cherrs mate. 😊
Got to say that is a smart idea and a hard scam to beat for the average person.
Excellent undercover job!
congrats on 100k
Yeap, I've seen before documentaries about Argentina showing that the locals are scamming the tourists with fake money also in many other places... So, there are not just the taxi drivers. I've been scammed myself a few times by some taxi drivers, but in the most unthinkable ways(!) - and not only when I was a tourist abroad but also in my own country:(
Thanks for sharing this video.
“We only do this with 50 or 100 notes” note to self: If i ever go to Argentina for vacation, only carry 20 bills
"I want to feed my kids." yeah everybody wants that too, thief.
these scammers always gotta feed their kids
what a clever scam . damn thanks for warining us
When she told him he took picture of the bill serial number, jumps into victim mode " I have kids" uhuh, sure you do.
Conor must have a bank account just for his scams
Legend has it , he still scams today and haw to "feed hes kids"
Entre 00:45 y 00:51 el taxista dice "90" pero el reloj marca $252,58. ¿Quién miente acá?
When I lived in BA they got me ONCE with this shit. Then my friends turned me onto what was happening. Almost got into several fights over this shady shit. And they have the nerve to play like you're wrong. Seems taxi drivers are some of the shadiest people in most countries.
this dude is just like Bear Grylls, he has all the "Urban Survival" thing going on. And he has the brittish accent too!
Hardly ever use taxis, but this is one clever thing to do :D
super gracias bro por tu ayuda.
The old switcharoo huh!
That scam happened to me in BA a decade ago and I am a security consultant.
CRISP TO WRINKLED GOOD MAGIC TRICK!.
Awesome.. right click at right time.
As opposed to the black widow scam, this one is obviously real. That taxi driver was really panicking for a few seconds there.
And that my friends is what you call a Chanta!
FAKE AS UNICORNS! at 0:50 the taximeter marks $ 252 and the taxi driver charges him $ 90

Even when he comes clean he is full of shit: A fake $100 Pesos note costs much less than $50. I'd say it's somewhere around $20-25. And taxi drivers pull this scheme with 20s, 10s and even 5s when they give you your change. They may also lock you in the car with them and threaten you to kidnap you or beat you up if you call the cops, so, rather than confronting the driver I would recommend taking a foto of the plates of the vehicle, or the driver information on the back of the front seat, and always call for a radio-taxi (which is another scheme we call "impuesto al chorro"), rather than stopping a taxi on the streets.
Take it from a porteño: all taxi-drivers are scumbags.
Mariano Mazza The worst trick I have heard of in BA is for a taxi driver to go to a really rough area, stop the car, then a group of people appear from the shadows and rob the passengers. It isn't really fair to say that all taxi drivers are scumbags, but there are some who will try to rip people off. To be honest, whenever I visit BA I usually use the Metro, buses (which are brilliant) or walk. My favourite city, would hate for someone to have a bad experience there and leave with anything other than great memories.
Never seen or heared of it. But it's possible.
+Mariano Mazza , it's amazing that counterfeiters would find it worth the trouble to produce billetes falsos worth 37 or 73 US cents each ;) !
Brendan Patman
This is South America.
+Mariano Mazza, so it is! By pulling this shit on a 100-peso note, he gains 75 pesos (over & above the fare) by cheating a customer. 4x a day = 300 pesos = US$22 a day. How often does a taxi driver go to jail or get beaten or pay a fine because of this?
Nice one nice, let us know more. Thanks
Hahah jokes on you i just pay with fake money
That would probably work actually. But hey, don't spread it.
Very good
Hell i would have said now you give me 200$ or ill call the police
What bothered me the most is when he called him my friend at the end. If you screw me of atleast don't have the nerve so call me your friend too. If you're gonna be bad be bad don't be fake too.
Is it in italia?
But what about if they say there is no note? I.e. in the restaurant etc.
this dude is bad ass
I would have ripped his car apart and he would be walking/hobbling to the hospital with the transmission hanging out of his ass! Would make for a better UA-cam vid as well!

this exact thing have happened to me while traveling!
how do We handle such cases?
I do this all the time to prostitutes but instead of switching notes i switch condoms and get them pregnant i have many kids now i use to name them based on the time it took me to finish my favourite kid is the one named 2 minutes and 11 seconds longest ive lasted
Really? (sarcasm) You pay for 2 minutes? How many diseases have you caught?
5winder Bout 3.5
5winder Why have u changed your name 1 minute 11 seconds
hahaha
Lol...that's funny .....but sad if true....
I will literally take a picture if front of their face and note the serial number before handing it to them. However this doesn't cover how you know if they give you fakes as change. i guess you gotta record every transaction on your phone and verify the serials before leaving?
Come to Ecuador, i know a couple scams
You can use the fake 100 just as easy as the real. But cool trick taking pics of the serial!
So to avoid the scam all you need is a hidden camera along with a camera crew and production unit! Handy tip! ;)
Ya that happened to ME in Buenos Aires, and I realized it at the time, but I had no language skills or way to call police on the spot so I had to let it go. I gave him a large bill, he snatched it away and gave me small change, but I was visiting and not familiar enough with the currency to know for sure how much it was.
Oh that’s why when I thought I gave a driver in turkey 50 bucks he said it was 5. That scum. I’m so mad.
Edit: I cant believe I gave that taxi driver 150 bucks.
I got scammed like this in Buenos Aires the very first day of my arrival. It still affects me and kind of hold a grudge against Argentina. Third world country.
1. When you pay the driver, ask "This 20 / 50 note isn't fake, is it?"When the driver says (as he must ) "no, it's real" he cannot then change his mind and the fact that you've labelled the value of the note also means he can't switch it for a note of lesser value.2. Never admit to this being your first time in town. Sit in the back pretending to text or get the local newspaper to leaf through rather than gawping out of the windows.or3. Tell the driver that you are also a taxi driver in your home city and swap stories of how you scam tourists. I did this in Paris and got a free ride ha ha sucker!
2:15 thought he just started to reverse and crash them lmao dang too high
Very sneaky
The way the intro is reminds me of
Man vs wild
I love it!
I'm from Mexico and this happened to me once in my country. The final price of the trip was $ 50, I gave him a $ 100 bill, then he told me that I had given him a $ 20 bill. In the end I gave him what was missing but ... Now I realize what really happened! :(
Same in every big city scams galore! My mate got duped in Athens by a little sleight of hand con man who emptied his wallet when changing money. They hang around the money changers around Omonia square grabbing your attention. Hats off to the guy as he fronted two of us, both quite big lads, and had it away on his toes when I became suspicious that he had took ten or twenty dollars from my mate. When back in the hotel it became apparent he had taken over four hundred dollars! Right under our noses, a true pro, not mugging little old ladies but fully fronting two big guys. As wrong as it is you have to admire the skill and the neck on the little bastard!!
Brilliant
