- It would appear I have spent 50% of my Parisian years over the last three decades in beautiful Vincennes, or the Vincennes area. Vincennes (and the Val de Marne area east of Paris) hold a special place in my heart. As I prepare to relocate to Tours, a lovely city in the heart of the Loire Valley (while keeping a foot firmly planted in Paris,) I thought I'd pay this beautiful town (pop. 50,000) a humble tribute.
Here’s a city - like Versailles - that often surprises and delights visitors who’ve come mostly to visit the local château. Here's a city - like Versailles - born around a king's former hunting pavillon.
Vincennes and its magnificent château have been part of Parisian and French history for over a thousand years. It's high time visitors realized it offers one of the most rewarding (and accessible) day trips from downtown Paris.
On this virtual tour, I stroll past the Château de Vincennes (Stand at its feet and picture in your mind other medieval fortresses, like the ill-fated Bastille) then take viewers to a popular corner of the expansive Bois de Vincennes, former royal hunting grounds, the largest green space in Paris.
Then we head to le Parc Floral, part of the Botanical Gardens of Paris where you can watch Parisians old and young at play on a sunny spring afternoon.

Merci, et à bientôt.
Véro
amazing, Vincennes is really amazing, so is the little Tours
Thank you for the lovely walk. 👍🙏
Avec plaisir. Happy you enjoyed it!
I hope you will take us to the chateaus in the Loire Valley! :) This was lovely as ever.
There might be a château or two in our future :-)
@@francewithvero Woot! :)
Merci Vero. :)
Thank you for being here Steve.
Always a needed adventure! Thank you Vero!!
Avec plaisir Janet :-)
Merci Véro! Next time we’re kn Paris, we’re headed back to Vincennes and St Mandé. We were there in Oct 2019, when you were in the US.
That sounds like a great plan. Don't forget to check out the lower part of Montreuil too, right next to Vincennes. Well worth a stroll (or several)

Parc Floral! Love this place! Especially in the summer, when they have great live gigs :) I'm taking someone to Bois de Vincennes tomorrow but I don't think we'll have time for Parc Floral. We'll be headed to the (even) lesser known parts.
Maybe you’ll be lucky enough to find yourself in the secret place where I took FWV Club Members after this tour on Saturday. ;-) Enjoy!
@@francewithvero Who knows? I do know we're going to a couple of pretty cool places not too many people know about. Places a lot less popular than Lac Daumesnil is... So many secrets in this city! I love how small Paris is (I can walk almost everywhere!) and yet even people who've lived here for tens of years still have a lot to discover.
@@ThomasParis Very true. Happy discoveries in le Bois de Vincennes.
