My favourite arrondissement whenever I visit Paris specifically la rue Legendre. A special shout out to my favourite boulangerie along la rue des Moines @La Boulangerie Baptiste
I was fortunate enough to stay in the 17th two years ago. My nephew is an officer with the U.S. Navy and, at the time, was stationed in Paris. What you showed in your video is not at all the 17th I recall! Of course, I was very near the Arc du Triomphe, which, as you said, is on the other side. I remember boulevard after boulevard of luxurious, Haussmann-style (late 19th/early 20th c), apartment buidlings...very family oriented...very bourgeois...old Paris...quiet yet lively at the same time. My coordinate corner was Rue Margurite and Rue Wagram. There were tons of good restaurants, antique shops and specialty stores. Wagram ran off into a smaller street, Rue Poncelet, that was packed with food vendors and wonderful shops. M. Pain Bakery at #15 was exceptional. Loved the "open market days" with vendors selling food on the street. La Fille du Boucher at 20 Rue Cardinet was a great lunch spot (get there early) and the Prince Wagram at 58 Ave Wagram had great coffee and chocolate chaud. Not hip and happening exactly, more Paris w/o the tourists, and that worked for me!
Lived on the Rue Legendre the whole of the 90s. It really was a village back then, loved it. I live in the 5th now but I still visit Batignolles every couple of weeks. Thanks for this video, great stuff.
When I was a student in Paris in 1989-90, I came close to having my own chambre de bonne on rue de Villiers. I didn't get it, but the 17th remained a part of Paris that I liked quite a lot, and for all of the reasons you outlined--an overwhelingly untouristy, neighborhoody feel.
I used to live in the Batignolles street, near the church. It's a marvellous "quartier" for family but not for tourists.
Oliver, these walk videos are my favorite! Thanks 👍
Thank for the video and information on the 17th Arr. but I wish your conversation would match up with what we're seeing on the screen. The camera is going down streets that don't coincide with your conversation and we aren't told what street the camera is traveling sown. Thanks, though for the visuals.
J aimais beaucoup cet arrondissement que j ai quitté il y a presque deux ans❤
Lucky you!
So we stay exclusively in Airbnb's due to my stomach removal in 2021. I have to eat every 3 hours and can only eat a cup at a time and use ovens and stoves. We eat lunch at a restaurant. Any recommendations on Airbnb would be appreciated.
First Comment Bonjour 🇲🇫!!
That was quick! Bonjour to you too! Thanks for watching!
