Everybody is focusing on the bad call, and here I am looking at these future All-Stars with respect and admiration. Pitcher zinged in a fast ball that 90% of us in the comment section couldn't have hit. Batter absolutely scorching it up the base line to first. Catcher zipping in a perfect throw to first base. These little ladies have some seriously good skills for their ages! Good on all of them!

It doesn't matter if you look the part if you make no visible effort to get a call right. Take the mask off, exit to the left of the catcher, find the ball, make the call. Do not put the mask on until your conversation with the coach is complete.

I did that once as an umpire ,the ball was rolling down the 3rd baseline & absolutely going foul & the 3rd baseman picked it up right on the line, but I was already set to call foul ball because it was obvious that’s what was gonna happen but the player made a mistake picking it up & I blew the call anticipating that the player would do the correct thing.

Major league coaches are paid big bucks to argue calls. MLB umpires are paid big bucks to argue back. The show is part of why MLB fans pay to attend games. But this is not MLB! Why youth league coaches attempt to mimic the MLB show is beyond explanation! Yes this umpire got it wrong, but he is not a major league umpire. Young players must be taught the concept that "it isn't what it is, its what the umpire thinks it is"! Get over it and move on with the game! This umpire should be commended for the way he promptly handled the coach's theatrics without escalating the situation!
