I’ve got a Larch forest I only put together this Spring of eleven trees. One died so I snapped it two inches up and laid it down through the others to give the impression of a fallen tree.
Alright mate. Loved listening to the thunder crashing away in this video. It really added to the drama as for the spruce you've inspired me to do some pruning on my ground planted Japanese larchas soon as the rain eases off a bit
That sound slike fun. I still have my big cloud larch project to prune...I fear too many larch videos so may leave it for cold winter viewing perhaps :)
Oh Xavier, I love this thunderstorm scenery. It feels like you are around the corner 😄⛈ In my opinion your forest looks more mature now… The whole composition is definitely an eye catcher. 😍 Thanks for sharing. 🙏 Cheers Martina 🙋♀️
Let’s give a cheer to the great British weather. Legend says if it rains on St Swithen’s Day (15th July) then it will rain for 40 days. I think it must have been raining because it hasn’t let up since… Your tiny blowtorch looks just like the one I have (not yet used), inspired by @TonysBonsai steam bending video…
Larch are probably my favourite cultivar to work with you know Xav They’re so delicate in the foliage but have lovely craggy bark The autumnal colours are beautiful followed by the winter silhouette which is an acquired taste but I absolutely love Thanks for sharing mate Hopefully I can visit you and have a look at you amazing larch stash 😉 Cheers mate👍🏻
those culinary torches love to flame up like that when just filled. burn some gas off with it up right/ level after refil will stop it from doing that. nice larch forest tho xav!
I love your banter. Couldn't think of an AI of Xav...... I have actually had lightening strike a young magnolia tree several years ago. It didn't kill the tree, but it did stunt the growth. I
A nice group Xav, and coherently pruned. The only thing is the angle of some. It would look better with less flare and a bit more vertical. The leaners look odd because they don't really have growth on their upper, light-facing sides - which they would have in real life. Wrong expression but do you know what I mean?
Very valid point and something that will get rectified in the future. I think I sometimes suffer from having too many odd trees to work with and I just chuck them all together in one cheap pot to make it simpler to care for. I am starting to get a better feel for what a realistic group should look like. Still learning :)
It feels like home again to be watching your videos mate. That's a wonderful larch forest and planting in general but I do wonder if a wider pot would work better, aesthetically?. I can't believe how rainy it's been!

That sounds like a good plan to me Brian :)
Thank you somuch for sharing pruning bonsai👍👍❤️❤️🙏
It makes bonsai so much more fun being able to share it with other people and hear what they think or what they might do differently :)
I love the thunder! But... I couldn't hear the birds.. 😉😄 Baa hahaha! Fantastic trees! Great video! Well Done Xavier!
Nothing like the storms you get but it was fun none the less :)

It is still raining now - driving me crazy. Impossible to do any filming or bonsai work :(
Very interesting forest. You definetely dare to make more heavy pruning than me.
I've worked with Larch for many years so i do have a lot of confidence with how they respond :)

Yippee Alex is back 🥳🥳🥳
You are definitely right about the pot - these are still cheap training pots whilst the roots knit together.
👍👌🙂
Good to see your smiling face this morning. the sun is shining and I have some Japanese Quince to work on :)
