I think the good thing is, at least most of the people who joined seem to be competent and smart enough people to not let themselves get tricked into something like that, and after machinima there's no way someone would go into something like this without taking an EXTENSIVE look into what they're getting into.
Or it could be in the middle ya never know.
@@troyharwell9173See I really really wanna be as optimistic as you, but considering how quickly things move on the internet I wonder how many people have legitimately forgotten just how much of a shitshow Machinima was. They also had some serious talent (for the time) behind them as well but that didn’t protect them from the company shutting down the way it did. People lost the rights to their own series, and now all that passionate content has completely vanished from existence due to mismanagement.
I just seriously hope these younger animators are more careful with their creations than Machinima creators were 14 years ago.
@@ShanePatSmith I think it won't be a shit show because some of these animators use to be involved with machinima so they would know how bad things were and probably wouldn't take such a huge risk without thinking they were gonna be a machinima 2.0, some of these guys already have huge following and back then machinima use to pay animators like crap so to see a thing ACTUALLY ran by animators who get it I think this is a huge step for online animators that wanna work on stuff

@54032Zepol idk how to explain it but machinima was a 3rd party youtube thing that would collab with a bunch of other creators and get them contracts to make stuff under their name but it went down because a lot of people were being underpaid and lot of background stuff going on. If you seen like old halo videos and cartoons on UA-cam they were made under machinima most likely

I love how they picked not just random famous scary animators, but animators that animate different types of scary. MeatCanyon usually animates uncanny valley sort of thing, smiling friends was fun and colourful characters swearing and doing normal adult stuff, and Happy Tree Friends is a “not your normal kids show”. But hear me out, I feel like the creator of playground needs to take part of this.

I’m honestly praying to god this venture is successful - my most beloved internet series shows are all here in their glory and seeing collaborative work between each of them is like the Avengers of western web animation.

I'm betting 50 bucks that the presence of characters that have had their shows ended years ago (Dick Figures, Baman Piderman, HTF, etc) is meant to imply that those shows will be hosted on Animation Plus rather than having full on revivals. I doubt Dick Figures would even work today.

Indie animators need financial support to continue making shows, and this service provides them with that support. I find it to be a good thing, I just hope that it has enough content to keep it afloat and isn’t overpriced. Guess we’ll have to wait and see how it turns out.

@@RedRacc This is exactly how Machinima was back in the day. Even if it's not an obvious scam (considering the fact that little to no information is being given on it anywhere, including the website), big streaming services for "indie animation" never go anywhere.
If this is like a new Newgrounds, but the creators actually get paid for their efforts through revenue which isn't 100% subscription based like VRV was, this could be a winning formula. Best of luck to everyone 👍👍
