You can tell the showrunners are dedicated and thoughtful of every aspect. I really hope people watch the new season in hordes...the show must go on!
@@beanthegoose The duology about the thieves is good but IMO the originally trilogy is uninspiring and bland. Alina (in the books) is a terribly dull protagonist.
The moment the Darkling asks if Alina’s willing to sacrifice what is most precious to her. If you’ve read the novels, that statement should give you chills. I can’t wait for this!
It's one of those rare times where I love the show far more than the books. The visuals, action and delivery are beyond what I'd expected for an adaptation. Honestly can't wait to see this.
I've not read the books, and I think I'm glad I haven't... because this is one of those times where the show actually got me first, usually if I've read the books, the visual version always leaves me disappointed... so for a change I'm glad to read the books, AFTER the fact.....
What made me fall in love with this show was the side story with Kaz and his group (guy with the cane). I would absolutely love a spinoff series about him.
did you read the books tho? six of crows and crooked kingdom has kaz and his buddies as the main cast, but they seem to change the timing of their plots.
the "chemistry" between wylan and jesper will probably be what makes people who haven't read the books hate the show. we all saw what happened with episode 3 of the last of us on hbo; they add a gay couple, and suddenly everyone says the show sucks
@@importedposter4152 I think you can't compare them. First of all most of the people who watched the show read the books and the adding of wylan to it made it so much more hyped for the audience. Also was the couple in tlou not planned from the very beginning, but Wesper was a thing all along. In couple votings of the whole grishaverse, there were often the first place and never lower than the top 3. I'm so excited! (That's an understatement.) Nikolai, the flying ships, Wylan, the twins, all Crows. It looks like Alina may use the Cut. Nikolai is an inspirational kind of comfort character to me, with how he carries himself despite insecurity. It means a lot to see him on screen.
It's really rare for Netflix to do Fantasy shows which is why I want this and the upcoming Narnia series and Avatar live action to do well so that they would be more willing to do more. I just find fantasy and scifi very interesting

@@importedposter4152 I see you complaining all throughout this thread (no h8, you got your opinions) but this comment I had to get your opinion on; what bothers you most about the casting?
@@LokiPii the only people who i can actually agree with are kit young as jesper and amite suman as inej. archie as mal is probably fine too. however, the rest is mostly bs. for starters, alina was meant to be pale and sickly until she actually started using her powers. i don't know why they would make her half-shu; there was no need for it. the only things they accomplished were appealing to minorities making zoya racist. the shu are enemies of ravka and actively experiment on grisha; making the main character--one of the most powerful grisha in history--half shu just doesn't make sense. i also really don't see the first army letting her in due to her being half-shu. kaz's casting could be worse; freddy carter is okay with it, but he really does not fit the book's description. and i love ben barnes, but i seriously will never understand his character. he's supposed to be aleksander--the darkling. so who the hell is general kirigan? not to mention the fact that the darkling is supposed to look like a 17 year old boy... which ben barnes clearly isn't. we haven't seen a lot of nina zenik yet, but she sure wasn't the chubby temptress she was in the books. and as for our brief glimpses of season 2, the casting doesn't get much better. sure, matthias is fine. maybe david is fine too. and patrick gibson does look like he could be some sort of lantsov. maybe not quite nikolai, but the show might be able to do that justice. however, the issue with him is that when we saw him in the trailer, he was supposed to be STURMHOND, not nikolai lantsov. it doesn't seem like the show is going to follow that at all. and the only thing they really needed to do for baghra was for her to have black hair....not blonde. some of the casting was fine and some was good. a lot of it was just bad and lazy.
Very excited for this season. I especially want to see where Nina and Matthias's will go now that he's a prisoner and she's going to work with the Crows to help set him free.
Dear Netflix's team. I'm expressing my atmost respect for all the successeful shows and movies that you have produced. But, i would like to mention something which is important to me. Basically, it is important to me and to all the fans of "Shadow and Bone". I would like to express my deep love amd admiration for this show. It just has all the characteristicts of a dark fantasy show. So please, consider give it a chance and make the announcement for the 3rd season. From my perspective, at least, the show is my favourite from all your shows. Just give it a chance. I think it is worth it. Thank you for actually hearing my opinion on the subject!
It looks like instead of catching the Sea Whip out at sea they're going to corner it in a spooky cave lmao! Can't wait! So excited to see Wylan, Nikolai, Tolya, Tamar, etc AND see the arc where Matthias is in prison and thinks Nina has betrayed him?!?! The angst?!?!?! The feels?!?!?!?! We aren't prepared for this lmao.
Also in the books the darkling actually forces mal to track down the sea whip and afterwards they would escape with it on a pirate's ship instead of handing it over to the darkling. But I think they changed that because here in the trailer you can actually see Alina speaking to Baghra before about capturing the sea whip and the firebird... Also the picture of Ilya Morozova with the three amplifiers is so different from what is depicted in the books....
nikolai being nikolai 1:19 - 1:27 kaz being kaz 1:38 and protective jesper with wylan in 1:55 and can we talk about proud mum kaz and his child wylan????? 2:15 and is it dunyasha and inej?? 2:17 and is it kaz who is falling into the water???? 2:28
I'm glad to see the Crows are back. They were the most engaging part of the first season. Alina spent much of first season being pushed place to place only reacting to events. With her new Chosen One powers, let's hope she's more proactive than reactive this season.
Agency. The thing that is missing in so many protagonists' storylines these days. ESPECIALLY what they like to call "the strong female hero". If you are pushed and pulled along on your own story line you aren't the "hero" you are a "Mcguffin".
@@ProtoNeoVintageGiven the events of the Siege and Storm you're going to see a much more active Alina. The first book helps dive deeper into why she was so timid and malleable for most of the season. Building a character up is a lot more important in character development than just having them be complete right from the start.
@@ProtoNeoVintage What do you mean nowadays? Alina was written almost two decades ago. Also so far Alina is following the "Hero Journey" PERFECTLY well; the initial denial of one's powers, the betrayal of someone who was a mentor figure, the realisation of being part of something bigger, the refusal of being part of it, and for the looks of it (in this trailer), the coming to terms that this is a role you must take in order to protect the things you love. The problem is not agency, or how "Strong Female Characters" are written. Rey from Star Wars is written the same way as Luke, Captain Marvel is written the same way as Iron Man, but only the "strong female characters" get comments like yours. Let's all take a moment to wonder why.
@@gabrielbartz6176 Oh Goody! Someone is offended by a simple opinion! “What do you mean nowadays? Alina was written almost two decades ago.” We aren’t talking about the books, but the TV show that came out much more recently. “ Also so far Alina is following the "Hero Journey" PERFECTLY” You really don’t know what the steps of a “Hero’s Jouney” are do you? “The problem is not agency, or how "Strong Female Characters" are written” Oh yes it is. Rey from Star Wars is written the same way as Luke,” Nope. “Captain Marvel is written the same way as Iron Man,” Hella nope. “but only the "strong female characters" get comments like yours. Let's all take a moment to wonder why.” Because what you call “strong female characters” are not. You really don’t have to wonder all that hard.
@@ProtoNeoVintage I'm not offended at all, let's start with that. Should I consider your wall of text just your offended self responding to me? Just trying to follow your logic here. Now let's move on to the fact this is a book adaptation, don't know if you understand the term, cause you sure don't understand mcguffin, but the changes made in Alina are not core changes, she IS the same character from the books, she WAS written 2 decades ago, and she IS a product of that era's trend. Even the author admitted it herself. So that's not an opinion, that's facts. You started your opinion in the wrong foot and just went downhill from there. Don't blame me, for being called out on that. And please, dear MALE commenter, why don't you teach us all how a FEMALE strong character is like? I'm DYING to see a MAN explaining to me how a FEMALE should be like to be considered "strong". Because apparently a FEMALE character written by a FEMALE author (even tho Alina wasn't written for or in the era that strong female characters was a thing) sure cannot do it. I mean, sure you can do it, after all we have tons of examples of strong female characters written by males right?! We have...Rey...Captain Marvel...Wonder Woman...wait a minute... ;)
oooof you didnt hear? the witcher is already filming a spinoff that basically is the crow's plot - 6 thieves and all. Lowered the chance to green-light the crow spinoff
Will definitely watch S2. Great production and setting and hopefully they key on more interesting storylines that veer away from the standard YA trope. It felt way more epic than most of the other Netflix fantasy productions including the overhyped Witcher.
When/if they make a spinoff about the crows (the somewhat morally-grey dudes from Ketterdam for those who didn't remember what they're called by), that one will be even better. Their book series doesn't follow conventional YA tropes at all and had a very dark, depressing tone with very interesting themes.
Thanks for letting us know? No one cares, go watch one piece neckbeard lmao Netflix didn't "make" this. It's based on 2 excellent book series mashed together. It's one of those rare times where I love the show far more than the books. The visuals, action and delivery are beyond what I'd expected for an adaptation. Honestly can't wait to see this.
Me too😂
I’ve actually heard that a number of times about this series. So that’s super impressive.
well, its not that hard. the books were pretty bad, straight up unbearable at some parts.
I agree. I think the show is more better coz it gave Alina layers for her chara. The first two books are 'meh', but the third book is great, I think.

I am so excited for Wylan! Finally all the Crows are together and I loved the chemistry between him and Jesper!!
the "chemistry" between wylan and jesper will probably be what makes people who haven't read the books hate the show. we all saw what happened with episode 3 of the last of us on hbo; they add a gay couple, and suddenly everyone says the show sucks
I understand your worries, but if they don't completely suck it up, it should be an absolutely amazing adding and also such an important character step for Jesper.
I honestly watch this mainly for the crows. Really enjoy the dynamic of this squad.

@@importedposter4152 what did you think of wylan?
D: it’s the SEA whip, they better not :(((
Also in the books the darkling actually forces mal to track down the sea whip and afterwards they would escape with it on a pirate's ship instead of handing it over to the darkling. But I think they changed that because here in the trailer you can actually see Alina speaking to Baghra before about capturing the sea whip and the firebird... Also the picture of Ilya Morozova with the three amplifiers is so different from what is depicted in the books....
ngl this looks even better than s1. it's like i'm visualizing everything that happens in the books. i love it :(( can't wait to watch!
I never read the books and I'm hyped. Finally, an actual adaptation of a fantasy series without "re-imagining" it!

@@gabrielbartz6176
Oh Goody! Someone is offended by a simple opinion!
“What do you mean nowadays? Alina was written almost two decades ago.”
We aren’t talking about the books, but the TV show that came out much more recently.
“ Also so far Alina is following the "Hero Journey" PERFECTLY”
You really don’t know what the steps of a “Hero’s Jouney” are do you?
“The problem is not agency, or how "Strong Female Characters" are written”
Oh yes it is.
Rey from Star Wars is written the same way as Luke,”
Nope.
“Captain Marvel is written the same way as Iron Man,”
Hella nope.
“but only the "strong female characters" get comments like yours. Let's all take a moment to wonder why.”
Because what you call “strong female characters” are not.
We have...Rey...Captain Marvel...Wonder Woman...wait a minute... ;)
This looks so good. They really improved on the effects for Alina's sun summoning.
I believe they should have a separate series for Crows. That group has great action and suspense
I really love this show. Easily one of my favorite fantasy shows since The Witcher. Alina is such a great character, and of course, I love my Crows.
oooof you didnt hear? the witcher is already filming a spinoff that basically is the crow's plot - 6 thieves and all. Lowered the chance to green-light the crow spinoff
Much better than The Witcher imo
Please don't compare this to the Witcher 🤦♂️
But looks like, unlike The Witcher, season 2 of this show won't be a big step back from what came before ...
DID ANYONE ELSE NOTICE THE FORESHADOWING OF KAZ’S BACKSTORY????? HOLY SHIT IM NOT READY TO SEE THAT ON SCREEN
Will definitely watch S2. Great production and setting and hopefully they key on more interesting storylines that veer away from the standard YA trope. It felt way more epic than most of the other Netflix fantasy productions including the overhyped Witcher.
You have just put into words how I felt. But i have the urge to emphasise: IT FELT EPIC!!
No one cares, go watch one piece neckbeard lmao
Netflix didn't "make" this. It's based on 2 excellent book series mashed together. You don't really care about anything you mentioned or you'd learn to read and pick up the books. You're just a regular fat dude that likes to complain about shit and think their opinion carries any weight.
