    Same. Manix 2 changed my relationship with pocket knives. It’s my all time favorite must have. Really breaks in nicely. I didn’t like the ball bearing lock at first. Now it’s my favorite. Can close it with just my thumb. Just gotta break it in. Love this knife as much as you do my friend. Thanks for making the video!

    Awesome looking manix! I went on a microtech and heretic knives spree for a while but ended up back at what works best for me for edc. A spyderco! Right now I have a M390 manix 2, shaman, sage 5 lightweight , microtech ultratech and LUDT in my rotation with the manix 2 and sage 5 lightweight being my most carried.

    To Me, The Manix is the only Spyderco that I like the design of and I really like the look of it. The Spydie Chef as well I like, but I find those two are the only Spydercos that appeal to me, and that's unfortunate because they are in my opinion, the best production knife company out there. Them offering all the blade steels they do put them above and beyond the competition and really respect them for that. Great video Kyle.

    Late to the party, but love this long term review. I have an OG manix 2 with the 154CM steel and hollow grind and it's a beast. I had the original clear polymer ball cage and it did break, but spyderco replaced it with the sturdier black polymer without cost and it's been very sturdy. I haven't had any complaints about the particular steel and the blade is wide enough that the grind hasn't gotten in my way. As far as usability, my hands are between medium and large depending on glove size and this thing isn't too big and the various grip positions are amazing. It's a bit large for general EDC for me, but it's almost always on me when I'm doing small projects around the house or yardwork. Between the jimping, the grip on the lock itself, and the hole in the blade, I can easily handle this knife with or without gloves and not worry about the ergonomics. And it washes easily. Mostly towel it dry and blow into the pivot a little and it's ready to go. Even my wife likes it. Easy to manage, works great for gardening.

    Haha you're the first person apart from myself who I have seen say the Manix 2 is small. When I got it I thought "What the heck this is small it barely fits in my hand" The way all of the reviewers talked about this knife I thought I was buying a large knife with a big handle, then I got it in hand and saw how small it was and was a little let down. It's a great knife though I do love it, just thought it would be a little bigger.

  • @tsnielson1288

    My experience with the Manix 2 is somewhat similar because I have a few spyderco knives. Being left handed the options are somewhat limited. The native 5 is great and was using it as my daily work knife but i lost it. The manix 2 took its place after sitting on my dresser for a few months. Now it's my favorite knife. The chapparel is a great gentlemens knife, and the manix 2 is the best work knife. Native 5 does it all if you want one knife.

    Solid review bro! Great to see this knife so appreciated. I bought this knife in the black G10 S30V version, The S110V G10 blurple, and the Lightweight Maxamet version. The Maxamet lightweight version felt so cheap in hand and the finish on the blade was not for me, I couldn't stand the sight of it. I ended up sending the Maxamet back and giving the S30V to my cousin. Never was a Spyderco fan, I've always felt they were ugly ass knives. They did grow on me. Was mixed on the color blurpel in S110V, but even that has grown on me. Watching this vid does make me want to change the scales, personalize it a bit, and it's definitely made me appreciate my knife even more. Solid content/review!

      Kyle J. Lanphere I spent a lot of money and purchased linen micarta scales, bronze Lynch deep carry pocket clip, bronze titanium screw set, bronze button, bronze lanyard tube, and a paracord wits a antique bronze bead that is a gas mask that matches the makers mark gas’s mask. That’s why I only use it on fine work when the zts working edge may not be as sharp because I use it so much and is much thinner behind the edge than the zt it’s just going to be sharper.

Originally I wanted the black blade with carbon fiber scales but the normal blade and brass is beautiful, definitely going for that. Looove my manix 2. I wish it was one of those in a fancier steel than s30v, but cash is tight right now and ya know what? S30v ain't so bad. If anything, I carry some of my other cheaper knives around more in some situations because I'm a little nervous about non-knife people freaking out over the not-small, nearly blacked out, and not inexpensive knife and ending up with it getting taken.

  • @CurrentlyOnLV-426
    @CurrentlyOnLV-426 3 роки тому +3

    Since getting my Para 3 in S110V, I read so many people freaking out about S110V being brittle and not to be used for anything other than cutting soft materials like papers and never for cutting wires or woods because it will either chip or roll the edge.
    Are you saying it is not? My experiences are only with fixed blades in steels like 3V and Cru-Wear, so now I'm not so sure about using my Para 3 for EDC purpose. But seems like you have the opposite experience with S110V.

    • @RedwolfEDC
      @RedwolfEDC  3 роки тому +1

      It does get micro chips over time and because of how hard the steel is it’s kind of a nightmare to sharpen, but you can definitely edc it and use it, I have definitely used mine plenty.

    I seen a s30v version snap at the thumb hole and plunge grind line it blew my mind never thought it would happen a guy at work was cutting a 16ft roll of matting in half it’s probably 10in in diameter and is just two thin plastic nets that sandwich straw hay together and its 100ft long but rolled up its for covering up seed on steep slopes to prevent erosion and the seed from washing away
    Its pretty hard to hack through but ive done it with a pm2 the blade is completely inside the roll when cutting and I think it had alot of pressure side to side and snapped probably something most people wont experience but is a concern I now worry about with spydie hole style knives

    I agree with this almost 100%…i have the standard s30v and m390 versions in my collection at the moment and they’re staying. The lightweight version is kind of like…I’m not sure what the point is. They’re ok but NOTHING like the full, g10 version. I understand the para 3 and sage lightweights. They’re actually really useful for certain, everyday stuff…but the Manix and the upcoming Shaman? It just doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. Those are meant to be substantial user knifes.

    I agree with you , i bought a manix2 in 20cv a year ago . It is my workhouse too . Of the usa made syderco, it my favorite hands for heavy duty edc. It became such a family favorite , that i got my son in law and grandson one . The ball lock is the best one handed knife going .
    Only the benchmade omega spring is as smooth, but they can and do brake . The only gripe is the plastic switch and mine is getting worn smooth after a year . So i ordered a flytainum ball lock replacement and when it becomes too slick i will replace it .

      @@RedwolfEDC got my first one 3 years ago...loved it. Gave it to a buddy who did me a solid. Own three sprints, 20CV, S90V, and 52100. My hands are men's med. All good for serious work, and as you pointed to, the forward choil with the jimping is perfection for something precise. Hands down the best all-around worker design for a folder.

    Ewwww, something about Medfords I just can't stand. I mean, they are great knives I'm sure but they are so damn ugly and so expensive that I just can't get behind them. Love spyderco though.
