liked the video and your criticisms of Alphen are valid, but I feel that the current way of fighting in AE does not suit how Alphen works. From my experience Alphen works better when you do not try to clear in 1-3 turns; he works better when you try to play defensively which is probably why he was given a very high multiplier of 1200% compared to aldo's 670%. Also his personal weapon is not good so I replaced it with the void sword which made him better at a role of DPS. Overall the only reason I would still use Aldo myself is because Origin Force is an incredibly strong debuff move but other than that there would be times when I would rather have Alphen than Aldo. Also if you equip Alphen with a +1000 HP badge + absorb it will get rid of most of his survivability problems as his self damage will no longer put him below 3000 health.
10 months late but I agree with you. And that is not only the meta but that is how the game is designed as wel lat the moment. With the new wyrm campaign for example the last boss has a barrier that you must destroy within 5 turns.

One year ago i was enjoying story mode with completely unbalanced team but with characters i like, without grasta and spending chrono stones to revive, using keys only about 1 time per week for exp dungeon, wasting chrono stones for old banners etc. And now im just one clicking everything in story mode, only 6 fights left (Ishmaelithan, Apocrypha H x3, Shadow of the Scales => Swordsman), sitting on 20k stones waiting for banner i have good chance getting new character, know most game mechanics. This year was crazy for me in Another Eden. I hope 2023 will be awesome too !!! Im going start it with new symphony :)
Really seems like he'd need a source of regen or a powerful EoT heal like Uquaji or Radica AS can provide if you gear them for it. It makes sense considering the Blazing Sword hurting the user, but it does feel like you need to supervise him more than others.
Alphen requires an AF to setup his stacks and hes good to go if u want to use his burning wave skill. However if u just want fire dps out of him, he has a servicable powerful mystic arte accessible from turn 1. His damage at 16 shadow is comparable or even higher than a 255 aldo. While if someone were to get alphen to 255, his damage will be at a different league. I his buffs are selfish, however, he makes full use of these buffs. Crit rate is very easy to come by with prismatic weapons, void weapons and there are other sources as well. Miyu as only guarantees crit for miglance units. Although the recoil damage is a thing that can screw u over, if used well, he does so much damage that it doesnt even matter, as an example against the artificial spirit: ua-cam.com/video/5a6eG8TfUvs/v-deo.html Note that kid already consumed the break that was set and yet alphen was strong enough to kill it with the first hit of his 2 hit skill. As for the concerto arte. That skill from my experience does quite a massive nuke in another force, i made use of it in my latest video against the twins. In my personal opinion, all 4 of these tales characters are reasonably useful even with gacha characters in mind.
My opinion for me at least my Alphen with pain poison gransta with his spam moves deals around 5mill without critical with critical deals up to 10mill on both attacks and in my opnion Alphen feels the strongest of all Tales of chars. And side note too i found out using new tales of chars with older tales of chars they have extra dialog after a fight which is nice cool detail from Ae and i love it.
Also now with the new tales of chars i can fully use an only free slash/fire zone using only Cress Aldo Alphen Lloyd Yuri or Starky and Serge at last to have 3 zones deployers. Which makes my only free chars using challenge to finish the whole story for AE and until i get Aldo upgraded moves from the last story part Alphen and Serge are my main damage dealers.
I know his self dmg is not good for others but in his own game he does self dmg too i know i played the game the flame sword that he have does that and in ae he can do much dmg i know it myself
They need to get on the manifest boat and get a lot more manifests out. There are a lot of NS and AS that don't have a manifest that have been out for a while. Also, I'm still hoping for a Mighty ES.

Welcome back to AE! There is so much to do nowadays but luckily everything is permanent. Depending on how far you are you can do some of the collabs, then Mythos symphonies to get the free units. Other than that try to finish the main story and unlock all the Garulea/Underworld dungeons. The grasta and grasta ore you get there is key to doing max dps in the endgame. Check my Back to Basics video on grasta up to 2.8.500 for more info. Finally, the AE subreddit used to have a roadmap that lists everything you can do and suggests the order. But mostly I recommend main story, then collabs, then side episodes, and of course any superbosses after that
Aldo looks stronger because of AS miyu. Put alter dewey there it's not "significantly higher" damage compared to Aldo. Miyu skills are racist where it only buffs miglance Castle characters. I don't like both, gariyu is better personality and damage.

I just finished upgrading Alphen and the other characters to five stars. And, I've got a Hismena alter! 30x pull different day.
