I took a chance on them about 6 months ago and I was shocked too! They’ve become my new workhorses, choosing them over some of my expensive splurges…I simply love them! I’d been thinking of posting here about them but as always, you’re right on top of things! So happy you like them. I feel validated! Enjoy!
Glad you did a review for this brand. Kept on seeing it pop up on Amazon but since I've never heard about it before, didn't pay much attention in the past. Thanks for the review Lindsay.
I bought that quill set back in April because I didn't have any quill brushes and wasn't ready to invest more yet. I like them and glad to see your take on them.
I recently purchased these and they are really nice and good value for me. I had one issue with one brush but I contacted the company and requested a replacement for the one brush and they sent me a complete new set within 2 days. I think the problem I had was just a fluke. They are nice brushes and they stand behind their product.👍🏼
Thanks for comparing the quill set to the larger set. I have been on the fence about the quills because the set has some larger brushes already, so it’s nice to have the differences explained.
Saw your comment that these would be good for gouache, glad to know, as I recently purchased a set of gouache to try. I bought these brushes the first time I heard you mention them☺️
I just bought 3 real squirrel brushes and I’d honestly recommend going with a more springy synthetic or a mix. Pure squirrel is difficult to get used to. It holds SO much water but it doesn’t spring back so there’s a definite learning curve if you’re used to springy synthetics.
I think you could possibly use the empty bag to secure them a bit more and stop them from moving around in the cardboard tube.!!! Like just holding the group of brushes together and wrapping the empty bag around the handles and then push that all down into the tube. Like mainly for traveling around with them in a bag or purse etc. Just a thought !
Thanks for this video. I have been looking for some brushes and saw these on Amazon and glad you like them. I ordered them via your link. My daughter-in-law has requested I do a pen and ink drawing for Christmas and I will watercolor it. I am so excited to get started on it. I already have a wonderful liner brush.
It was cool to see how the cat's tongue and dagger brushes are supposed to work. I was clueless -- might need to pull them back out of the drawer. :) I've got the same brushes, by another company, and have noticed that they have been branded in various configurations/price points by a lot of companies. What I can vouch for is the quality. I've used mine every day since early August and man, they are amazing. They all still have points and edges where points and edges should be. None of them have begun dividing into sections like all of my cheap acrylic brushes do. It feels like a complete luxury to use them. My two 8-brush sets -- one set of flats/rounds like yours, one a set of all rounds. What's cool is that the only duplicate of the two sets is the #8 round, which is fine by me because it seems to be my most reached-for brush. One thing to watch for with the Pinturale Arts sets is that they routinely, and often, fluctuate in price from $11.99 to around $29. There is no rhyme or reason to it, but the game is to put them into your shopping cart and wait awhile for the price to come back down. It always does. I'd be curious to know if the other brands are playing the same game?
@@thefrugalcrafter Since August, they've gone up and down at least four, maybe five rounds. Right now they are doing the dance again. Today they were $19.99. Crazytoons, eh?
My daughter and I are new to watercolor. I’m enjoying all of your reviews. What sizes and shapes are the most beneficial to beginners. I thought these might be a set I could buy and share with her. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with so many people. I really appreciate it.
Hullo Lindsay, I do believe that you have given your viewers a wonderful review of these brushes! I started with hand me down brushes from my Gran. I had been painting for almost 5 years before I went to a class on watercolor painting. I remember seeing other people with sets of brushes all the same brand and color! I know that synthetic brushes are just about the same as natural hair brushes, most people cannot tell the difference, yes, I was very jealous and I still use a mish-mash of styles and brands when painting! I have found professional artists that have been unable to tell the difference between natural and synthetic hair brushes! This was NOT the case when I started, you definitely needed squirrel or Kolinsky brushes to paint with watercolors. Thank you for sharing your opinions and showing us how these brushes preform, I would love to see them in a year or after hours and weeks of use, how have they held up? Maybe a future video will show us ? Thank you for sharing all of your ideas and knowledge with us!
Ordered and an empty paint pallet/container to place the watercolors that I make with the gum arabic I scored the other day, which has come in!!! Next I need to get back into your monthly membership! Thank you, Lindsay!
I didn’t even make it all the way thru the video before I had to order. I think these will help with all the videos in Critique Corner, can’t wait to paint with them!
Thank you Lindsay - I always love seeing what's new out there. IF I were in the market for a good set of brushes, I would grab these in a heartbeat because they performed really well for you! Big hugs!!
Great review and lesson in brush technique combined! I have the 10 brush set that I got for your watercolor class so I just now ordered the quill set, too.
These brushes are so great! Its been stay in a while in my wish list...and I want it...but instead, I bought a similar brushes, NicPro. They're good...but many of them have problems in the cut of the brushes, in the points, it's a shame, because they're good too. But if I can choose now, I buy this Artegria water brushes set. I have the quills one and they're so fantatistic! ❤❤❤
Oh thank you! These keep popping up in my searches But I was afraid to order them. I had your brushes but they were lost in a fire 😢 I really wanted to try quills, too, but they seem to be priced higher than most and I’m on a tight budget. Right now the quills are on sale for $17.95 plus there is a 10% coupon for a total of $16.15 before tax. Waiting for delivery!
Great review! I was looking for a better set than what I can get locally. This may be it! Thanks! AND...they are actually cheaper still right now. The 10 set is about $23.95 and the quill set is $17.95. If the pricing holds, you can save further by ordering on Oct. 28th, their free shipping day. 👏👍
A word of caution on cheap brushes. Good brushes are made by hand by highly skilled workers, requiring years of training. Cheap brushes make me wonder about workers' rights and conditions, child labour, etc. Check out any video about brushmaking by Escoda, DaVinci, Rosemary & Co and notice how much work goes into assembling them with accuracy. It is a mystery how workers get decent wages when brushes are that cheap. I would go for less quantity, more quality and more certainty about the supply chain.
I bought these sets also! Love them! I went to Craftamo to order yours and they are sold out. Are you thinking of restocking your brushes! I heard you say your dagger was more stiff. Thank you for this review!
Hi Lindsay. Thank you for this. Great informative video and I like the look of the brushes but, as per a previous comment, the links don't seem to be correct (I am in the UK). The first one takes us to: Nicpro 15 PCS Round Watercolour Paint Brushes Bulk and the second to allegedly real sable brushes: 7Pcs Kolinsky Sable Watercolour Brushes, Fuumuui 😶
Thank you so much for the review. I saw a similar set of brushes on Amazon, the Golden Maple sable watercolor brushes. How do you think is this compared to the Golden Maple one? I wonder which one is more worth the price. Thank you.
So glad you reviewed these, Lindsay! I bought this set to share with my kid. Ps- around 5:49 you referred to the quill brushes as "natural squirrel" but I think you meant to say "synthetic squirrel" because you only recommend synthetic brushes, right?
I came back to this review as my 3/8 dagger has been giving me trouble, and I wanted to see if it was me or the brush. Granted, I have been painting with it a lot. It appears that I have used it too much, or the way I paint has made the tip slightly curves. Can I use the hot water trick to get the tip back?
I was planning on getting my first dagger brush today…. I don’t think I need a whole set of all shapes? Lol. I wish I’d started painting with better brushes, but I was a teenager and some brushes suffered the dried acrylic blob of death. 😅
Hi Lindsay! I just got a 25 dollar gift card from a friend. Do you suggest that I buy this? Do you have any other suggestions? (I try a lot of mediums!)
I checked their web and it looks it's focused towards american customers, all links to amazon us and such. It's kinda weird for a Spanish company. Where do they say they're spanish?
I would love to see more Amazon brush sets reviewed. I purchased the collection of brushes that I have from Amazon and I'd love to know if they're "good" or not. I've really been wanting to paint lately, but haven't gotten around to it yet. I have a huge collection of watercolor paints, but I've procrastinated on actually learning/painting anything. 🤦♀️
are these brushes too juicy for gouache? to me, gouache consistency is what makes it difficult, and since the opacity of gouache affects consistency so much, it seems a ⇾ relatively ⇽ stiff brush is always a more versatile brush than a floppy one, even tho it hold more water.
I have been using these brushes for about a year. I really like them. Thankyou for a good review.
Glad you like them!
As a beginner that was gifted these for Christmas i appreciate your explanation of these brushes. Can’t wait to start playing/painting with them.
I’ve bought both of these sets recently and I’m shocked at how much I love them. I reach for them over and over.

The links work for me too. But, I am in the US. So probably not available in Spain through Amazon. Also different sites will charge different prices.
Enjoyed the demo on how to use the brushes. I will refer back to video and practice with my other brushes.

And it is also a very cruel product. Have you seen those farms. Nightmares are made from them
