Worried population decline could end up not quite as positive though…with all the people living longer and having fewer younger generation to care for the older generations.
Otherwise, awesome to find some positives! Couldn’t believe the decline in plane crashes.
That's really just an effect of the economic models we use. Moving away from consumer capitalism could easily ameliorate that effect. Finances are the primary cause of slowing population growth in the younger generation, and it's caused by the hyper-concentration of wealth in the top 1%.
Not to mention that more people, all else being equal, is an extremely good thing in itself. But yes, its good that many things are becoming better. Hopefully, as issues related to poverty and health increasingly become issues of the past, the issues preventing people from having children can be addressed. A future where there are no one to enjoy the fruits of progress would be tragedy.

We should tweak these questions. Does internet access make people happy? Does everyone need to use a toilet that flushes drinking water, as we do in the West? Should teenagers work?

Advances in vaccine delivery, health care, education, engineering, and policy have increased my hope FOR humanity. My faith IN humanity has been restored somewhat by increased protests against illegal invasions and authoritarian mistreatment of citizens. Thanks for the reminder that all is not grim.
It is important to see the big picture. But if a nuclear war starts tomorrow, this rosy big picture crashes in a second.
Pretty interesting. Capitalism deserves a good deal of credit for all of these advancements.
I have plenty of faith in humanity, with or without these stats. It's the global economic system of capitalism that I have zero faith in. If capitalism is the end of history, its will also be the end of humanity.
