This was cool! It was a lot of fun do. I think the way you pair the notes is what makes it sound so good which is something I want to achieve. It just seems to come so naturally to you. :)
Hi Melissa, can I ask why you chose to use the Silver Bullet Mic and not something like the Barcus-Berry 6100 . I have been using the Barcus Berry for 30 years, is it because you get a bit of key noise as this mic replaces the cork so its inside the flute. Roger
tightnoose good question! The Barcus-Berry is a great mic. I like to keep the body of the flute intact as much as possible, as the flute's head cork definitely affects the beauty of the natural flute sound. I get a little key noise with this mic, but not much - I don't mind a small bit of key noise, as that helps differentiate a real flute from a sampled one. I would ultimately prefer a wireless headset mic for greatest freedom of motion and sound quality. How do you like your mic? Is there significant key noise? Other than that, either mic will get the job done. :)
sonyqTV Hi Melissa, There is key noise for sure, as I play by ear I found I was always drowned out by other instruments which were amped, if you play by ear you need to hear yourself and I couldn't so I went for the only mic I could find at the time and that was the Barcus-Berry. however it is still working after 30 odd years. Thanks for spending your time chatting to me. regards Roger. ps am about to record some stuff, when Its done I will send you a link, hope you listen to it.
Im writing an Album of songs ,some rocky some pop with a female singer in mind. I have about 10 sort of finished but nothing recorded. They will be Acoustic synth mix, some were written on the flute and then transposed onto synth guitar GR55 to give them depth. I find it easier to put a melody over backing using the flute and then change that into lyrics. Im into pop and rock and also synth rock. I work on the basis that all great pop songs need a hook or a riff so it can be remembered so im always looking for that. that can be a lyric or a guitar lick but it needs to be catchy. I have seen many great bands but tend to live for now and not dwell on the past to much. I don't understand Jazz and don't think I can ever get into that SORRY. I had some classical training so play a few classical tunes but im not good enough to do them justice. give me 3 months and I will have recorded some stuff, I have a couple of girl singers but the music industry is fickle so when push comes ot shove they might not turn up. Also plenty of singers out there that cant sing but believe they can lol. Im not expecting to find another Ellie Goulding or Christina Perri but you can but hope.
Even one simple note sounds so beautiful in your flute! Thanks You! Ando it is very Nice to mention your teacher. Thanks again!

tightnoose What type of instruments do you play with - a standard rock band instrumentation? Jazz? Yes, post a link! I'd love to hear it!
