I’m 210lbs and decided the Enduro Wides were best for my weight and hooligan riding style. Just ordered some today! All the Hunt wheels sold now use V2.0 rims that address previous rim issues, and they doubled the pawls in the hub for even quicker engagement
Nice break down. I just switched to wider rims this winter. Can't wait to test them in the summer. I went to a 30mm wide with 2.4 tires from a 21mm rim with 2.25 tire
I eventually went for the Horizon V2s from Nukeproof, which sit at a similar price point, offering a similar performance. But yeah, the repeated rim issues being mentioned online, did make me worry a bit, although I also suspected that this is heavily influenced by the type of terrain you ride in.
The Nukeproofs are good wheelset. The UK brands are big on value. Agree that the terrain will make a difference as far as durability goes. People that spend more time in rough terrain or people that are heavier will wear out or damage equipment more frequently.
I have the hunt trail wide set and I like the hubs a lot but found them not good in the So Cal Environment or riding as I have dinged the rims a few times and they get out of true a bit to easy with the amount of rocks we have. If you have more mellower trails with less rocks i recommend these. I will be replacing the rims as they don’t stand up to the abuse needed but the hubs are great.
It depends on how much you like the Sram hubs. I have the ST i30 rims on my enduro bike and I'm not overly impressed with them. The strength fit and finish of the Hunt wheels seems better in my opinion.
It depends on the model. There are lots of DT Swiss models out there. DT 370 hubs and M1900 rims are most common in my experience, and I would say that the Hunts are better. DT 350 hubs with star ratchet are good. 240 hubs are good as well. The best thing about DT is availability of spare parts and freehub bodies. That is something Hunt lacks.
Thanks for the review. How would you rate the pedal slack in the rear hub. I have gravity hubs and it takes about ¾ crank before they engage. Jk but it is bad. Thanks again.
It's minimal. The hub has 3 degrees of engagement which is excellent. So every 3 degrees of rotation the hub engages. For comparison the DT Swiss 370 hub is 20 degrees of engagement. Hope that helps.
If you rode in the pisgah all the time would you go with the enduro wide instead of trail wide? I am on an enduro bike but was wanting to go with the lighter trail wides
If I rode Pisgah all the time I would probably go with the Enduro Wides. I'm talking about the long climb /long descent trails. If I spent more time on the more pedally undulating stuff then I would opt for the trail wide. It's the high speed descents in chunk that destroy wheels. So I would rather have the extra measure of strength.
I wish they were a bit wider. I run 2.6 on my hardtail and had to give up some weight savings and go with their enduro wide. Still fairly light for the size but the trailwides and just to narrow for me.
Unfortunately, there's that bit of give and take with wheels. As you go bigger the weight will add up. Fortunately, the Enduro Wides are relatively light for their category.
@@sparks701 I stand corrected. There is a discrepancy on their website. In one spot it says 2.6 and another says 2.4. I would err towards the smaller tire. I appreciate the feedback. 👍
They can be loud. The hubs are high engagement so they will have a distinctive buzzing noise. You can quiet down any wheel with a little extra grease in the freehub body. The other option is to purchase silent hubs like Onyx, or the Box One Stealth but they are expensive.
I used a SRAM Xd on my wheels which is 12sp compatible. The Shimano Hyperglide (HG) freehub will work with certain 12 speed cassettes like SRAM NX and SX. I think any cassette were the smallest gear is no less than 11 tooth will work. Once you start using the wider range cassettes like 10-50t you'll need to use Sram Xd or Shimano Microspline depending on the brand of cassette. Of course I encourage everyone to check with the manufacturer to confirm. Ask twice, buy once. 😀
Not much to say. They're good wheels. 🤷♂️
Instablaster...
Instagram blaster indeed, Bud.
Adrenaline for life!
Good to hear they stood up well and made a difference. The included spoke key sounds like a useful addition!
The spoke key was a nice addition. You don't see that often with a set of wheels.

Very cool! I'm glad to see more improvement in their lineup. The added durability is welcome.

The wider rims will definitely broaden you choices. Summer can't get here fast enough.
Nice dude, I think that sealed the deal on me getting a set. Thanks for the video
Great set of wheels! Enjoy!

I actually just ordered the enduro wides today.
I have the x wide gravel wheel set. I love it. But I’m wondering if it would be an upgrade to my WTB ST i30s with Sram Hubs for my mtb ?

Are they better than many dt Swiss wheels. The used market is flooded with dt swiss

@@AdrenalineIsLife thanks 🍻
Got a set on sale for 350$ should be a big upgrade from my entity wheelset
That's a good price! You'll notice a difference when you install them. Enjoy!

I run a 2.5 at the front and 2.4 at the rear. Hopefully the Trail Wide should be good enough!
@@hambo76 Per Hunt they are optimized up to 2.6. I run 2.4 no problem and 2.5 should be fine.
@@AdrenalineIsLife I have some 30mm internal i9’s and the 2.6 burp a lot. The 33mm on the hunt enduro fixed that problem for me.

All those cases were intentional to test the wheels, right? 😂
Yes....yes they were 😏
HI THANKS FOR THE REVIEW COULD YOU TELL ME DO YOU FIND THE HUB VERY NOISEY IM NOT KEEN ON ALOT OF NOISE

@@AdrenalineIsLife Thanks for reply looks like an engineer could make alot of money building a reasonably priced high engagement quiet hub .UK
Good review - appreciate the follow up after more extensive testing. What's your weight btw?
Glad to help! I'm about 175lbs with gear.
Their website says they are for up to 11 spd cassettes, do you know if it can work with a 12 spd bike?

@@AdrenalineIsLife Don't forget, there are wide range HG cassettes too.
What size tires did you use (width)
2.4in.
With 30mm internal width you should be able to fit up to a 2.6in as long as your frame/fork has the clearance.
Good
