Yes we had it split up between our backpacks. Normally the owner has it packed inside a single 120 liter backpack(with some parts on the outside). But because of food and equipment on this trip we had to attach alot of the canoe outside the backpack. Carrying it alone would be though and combersome, but norwegian explorer Lars Monsen does this in his journeys, though with two backpacks. Btw, Ally Canoe Company makes its own backpack for the canoe. Its a 225 liter packsack. Search; Ally canoe Packsack :)
I have the 225 litre packsack for the Ally 18' model. I'd say it's roughly 4' (120 cm) high and 2' (60 cm) across. The canoe, spray cover, assembly mallet, repair kit and two Fox 40 collapsible paddles fit inside. Lifejackets won't quite fit, but I'm still new to packing it, and may eventually learn to squeeze things down some more. The entire bag and contents weigh 72 pounds (32.5 kg) - which the carry straps on the pack make pretty manageable. It's by no means "small" - about the size of a well-stuffed hockey bag - but it does fit in the cargo area of my Toyota Matrix, and in my apartment closet - something I could never say for a regular canoe. Edit: the Ally 18 is their largest model. They go down as small as 15 feet - but, honestly, the difference is about 6 pounds (2.75 kilos). I can't imagine that, in the smaller models, there's any great decrease in volume either - apart from having one less "hula hoop" in the spray deck.

Hey guys, just wanted to know which Ally you are using for 2 people with that much gear plus one dog.
Thanks!
TheAnonymousSword Hi, we used a Ally 16,5 DR :) It worked great!
@@djo011 thanks.
Hei.

Heisann! Ja mener å huske at det går fint å vade over. Dypeste er vel rundt 1 meter. God tur!

Fin video!
Heisann, takk, vi brukte Ally 16,5 DR :)
Great video :)
How are you transporting the Ally in the first scenes? Is it inside your backpacks?
I am wondering how many litres it packs down to.

Nice video, but I would prefer the “Music” of the Nature and some spoken comments.
We Are Norwegians. We dont speak, only nod and point to eachother. ;)
