First time tip: BIG ONE, bring a very small towel or a baby blanket in your backpack so you can sit down on the ground to watch your parade or fireworks if youre planning to! You will be very tired and you dont want to sit on the dirty ground or be standing up the whole time. Trust me. A towel or small blanket, even a shirt will work. 👍🏻
I'm 68 and had a visit just last month...this time I wore my crocs and had no foot pain, plus they were great for Splash Mountain. I wore a straw sun hat which kept the sun off my face and neck, with a ribbon that kept it from blowing off. I also had my spray-on sun screen. I had no desire to reach a certain number of rides, but just to take the days as they unfolded and considering the desires of my grandchildren. I'm a little sad I never got a Dole Whip this time but plan to return for my 70th birthday and use the app, thanks for explaining that so well! I thought I'd stop watching BL&B after my trip but find I just enjoy it too much, you are so down to earth, joyful in what you do and showing respect to all, including each other which is a pleasure to see. Best wishes!
My biggest tip is to just go with the flow and don’t plan everything to the last moment… the magic is so much better enjoyed if your not stressed about line ups or missing out on rides… just enjoy it for what it is! ❤️❤️❤️
I’ve been going since I wasn’t even born yet but I always have it planned out. Like when we wake up and stuff. I’m always there when they open the gates and start at Indiana and work my way over to space mountain to end the day. If I still have time I go on Indiana and/or pirates again. To me, I like having a schedule.
I have to counter point this respectfully. While I do agree with not getting yourself stressed out, having a plan of what you want to see and do is important if you want to leave feeling like you got to hit your musts. Otherwise you may end up feeling disappointed, which nobody wants after spending time and money like this. Map out a plan, but be open to changes and know you can always come back next time to hit whatever you missed. 🎉
We were just at Disneyland Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. It was crazy busy. I agree that getting here early is extremely important. We were able to knock out some rides first thing. Don't use your Genie Plus too early. Get to the park early, knock out a few rides and then use your Genie Plus. I love the tips that Katie and Spencer are giving. Since we have only been to the park a few times, there are so many things to learn. That you Katie and Spencer. We love your channel.
@@silvialopez5541 I know I’m way late but usually you gotta start at either space mountain, Peter Pan, or Indiana. I start at Indiana and work my way over to splash but from others experience, those are the most popular.
Some tips -when it gets hot wait in indoor lines for big rides for the ac and skip the heat -look at all the detail in the parks and in the lines for rides, it makes it more magical ✨ -when the fireworks go on thats the best time to ride rides, you get on almost immediately(especially big thunder mountain, you see the fireworks as you ride its fantastic!)
Bring a mini backpack. It can hold a water bottle, souvenirs, snacks and other items. Heck, you can even put your Mickey ears onto it by using a slack-stick bracelet on the handle! Disney’s rides usually include a small pocket for you to put your backpack on the ride, it truly is so convenient for your trip.
I went for the first time last December and traveled alone. One tip I would say is if you are traveling alone take advantage of photo pass! I did it one of the days and was able to go home with some awesome photos even though I didn't have a group to take my picture.
My fiancé and I will be visiting Disneyland next month. It will be my fourth time at Disneyland her 1st. I’m a DVC member. Needless to say, I’m a huge anything Disney fan. My fiancé thinks its capitalism at it’s finest. I am really trying to plan a magical time for her, this video really helps. Took a lot of notes and saved the video to share. Thank you.
I’ve gone to Disneyland since I was 7 and I’m now in my 30’s! One thing I’ve learned is to take a break in the day! I used to be those folks who would be there from opening to closing and I’ve found that I’m so exhausted at the end of the night. Leave when it’s the hottest time of the day and relax at the hotel (take a nap, take a dip in the pool, eat at one of restaurants outside of the park). You will come back refreshed and ready to take on the rest of the afternoon and night! Another tip is to recharge in the Golden Horseshoe during those hot summer days..the AC is on full blast in there and you can usually find a seat on the upper level.
what a great video for newbies (and others)! thanks, spencer and katie. i also recommend bringing a portable charger since the app kills your cell phone battery and reserving any special meals right at 60 days in advance to secure the restaurants and times you want.
So I’m going in October! And one thing that my friends and I did in 2019 was get plastic drawstring packs and put all of our valuables in it before we went into splash mountain. This year we are getting plastic backpacks and going to decorate them and put in lights so that they can light up in the dark 😊
My husband makes what my family and I call “Disneyland Sandwiches” and he brings the ingredients in a cooler for us to make them right there in the park. He’s a cook so everything he makes is delicious, but there’s just something so special about having his food right there in the park. We found a nice little spot on Tom Sawyer island last time and it was just magical.
I'm not a first timer, but the genie plus and mobile ordering are all new to me. Your tips were really useful for those! I have one great hack when Main Street is really crowded because of the time of day or parades--- all the Main Street shops are inter-connected. So, if you want to get down Main Street when it's crowded, go through the shops on either side. It gets you where you're going much faster-- and you won't get run over by someone's stroller!
My #1 is slow down! People watch! Grab a table at Jolly Holiday or Coke Corner and watch. If you get a spot on the porch even better. And i agree, if you don't have small children do Fantasyland at night because it is less crowded and the lights make it much more magical.
My best tips would be to make sure you wear comfortable shoes! You will be walking all day non-stop! Make sure you get the beignets at Ralph Brennan's Jaz Kitchen at Downtown Disney. They are super delicious!!!! Also, stop at Gibson Girl for ice cream. Favorite rides to suggest are Thunder Mountain Railroad & Space Mountain. And most of all have a great time!!!! 😁😁
Showing the whole mobile ordering process was useful, thank you. Haven’t been since before the pandemic and a lot has changed! The free water spots is super useful too! 👏
My tip is budgeting certain amounts for lunch, dinner and 2 snacks budget for at least one big dinner and find a hotel with free breakfast always bring a couple bottles of water as well I heard the best place to fill up water is Starbucks
I'm from Brisbane Australian, My parents took me when i was 5, This year in August will be my first time as an adult as my husband and i are taking out 4 year old and your videos have been so helpful and informative! thank you i'm all over the app, Genie + and mobile ordering, hoping this will help

Thank you! My daughter is going for her birthday on June 4; sadly I won't be able to go yet and we haven't been since before the shut down. I hope she will watch this!
When we went to Disneyland a couple weeks ago I remember spencer saying if you go by a ride when it goes down and comes back up you get right on. Me and my daughter did this for slash mountain and got right on. Also I used another tip from your videos we went to rope drop and went threw frontier land to get to rise of residence. We got on right in the morning. Thank you guys you made my trip worth it during a busy time when we went.
If you see an open table near a thoroughfare, grab it. Even if it’s not time to eat for you, sit down get a drink, and just sit and take in the scene. People watch; hopefully you’ll feel like you got to actually take in the scenery.
I would suggest to 1st time visitors to the Magic of Disney is to ENJOY WHO YOU ARE WITH! Watch them smile and giggle and let your inner little kid PLAY together. Disney is for Love and magic.
For me Disney has great attention to detail. It's everywhere, for example, the landscaping, the food, the lines, the Mickey shapes everywhere. The magic is in the details like trashes that move like robots and talk to you.
I saw you guys the day you filmed this video! We were there for rope drop and by 11am we had completed Matterhorn, Buzz Lightyear, Star Tours, Rise of the Resistance, Smugglers Run, Thunder Mountain, and Splash Mountain. It was great. Lightning lane for Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, and Indiana Jones finished out the day. Everything else was a icing on the cake.
If you like uploading to social media and taking a lot of pictures with your cell phone (which why would you spend your time on social media if you are in Disneyland? Live up the experience!) I highly recommend to bring a portable power bank. The Disneyland app and their in-park wifi tend to drain the battery of your cell phone pretty quickly!
"Deep sea diving" ROFL! My tip is~ In the early afternoon when the park is crazy full, f you have kids, take them back to your hotel for lunch, a swim, and a possible nap. Not only will this rejuvenate you for later in the day but it will save you money on your lunch!
This is THE BEST video I’ve watched so far on planning my Disneyland trip - that says a lot since I’ve been watching videos like this or a tar straight. I’ll be rewatching this over again !!!! Thank you!
Just want to mention that I love your guys channel. And I love everything you got to show about Disneyland also my favorite place to be and it’s truly the happiest place on earth. My tip that I have to offer is eat a big breakfast so it will last you through most of the day and you won’t be hungry in the park. Also come early as soon as it opens. Another tip is if you’re traveling with someone and a scooter or a wheelchair you do have the advantage of skipping line and going into a special line that moves much faster.
I’m going to Disneyland for the first time ever in September (hoping to be there for Halloweentime🎃) and I’m trying to get all of the info + tips I can! I love all of your videos, but the format of this one was especially helpful and I look forward to seeing more of this simplified type of tip and tricks content! Also, thank you for showing us how to mobile order through the app too, it’s super helpful to see a walkthrough example rather than just listening to a verbal description of how to use it!☺️
Try to be the first in line to have your ticket scanned in the morning if you plan on buying genie +. They usually scan your party’s tickets before the park opens up and your able to buy genie + before entering the park.
Buttons, Buttons ... get ALL the buttons!!! Cast members are GREAT with the buttons from sun up to sundown. You can have characters know your kids' names and wish them a happy birthday etc. Magic all around and sometimes, if you're lucky, special treatment! Be kind and soak in the magic of that wonderful place
You guys are my favorite UA-camrs, hands down, but something David from fresh baked said has always stuck in my head… let the Disney winds guide you!!! Meaning just go with the flow!!! If you are so detailed and focused your whole trip it takes the magic out of it. Have a few things you know you want to do then just enjoy the parks!!!
Holy crap... I remember the caves. I got lost in them when I was 3 and when I found my parents, I told them about it, and they told me it was just my imagination. I've tried to find them several times but never could, so I assumed they were right. But thanks for proving 3yo me right!
I went to Disneyland for the first time since the pandemic and I traveled alone. One thing I recommend doing is to stay at one of the off site hotels that is right across the street from the park (10-15 minutes). This vlog right here is Disneyland planning 101. Thank you for all the tips and tricks Katie and Spencer! Keep up the great work!
My Fiancé and I have been to Disney World a few times (I went more as a kid) and we are planning to go to Disneyland for the first time in September. I’m excited to see the differences
If you can afford it take advantage of the dining packages for the entertainment like world of color or fantasmic. You will get a good seat without having to wait for one, and can use that time to experience more of Disneyland :)
I’ve been to DL countless times, but am planning to take my 4 year old this August so I’ve been watching a lot of videos (yours included 😉) and this was one of the best, most comprehensive videos I’ve seen yet. I got a lot of ideas I know my wife and I will use so thank you!
The train is always our first ride so we can take in the whole park. We have been to DLand enough times that we also enjoy the details everywhere. Great video with lots of sage advice. Kudos!
I have been to DL countless times and sometimes I forget things. This Vlog is exactly what I needed to watch before going in July. Such a great way to refresh my memory on visiting Disneyland. Thank you for creating this Vlog 🤗
Hi, this is Holly. My husband & I have been to Disney World every year since around 1996 until the pandemic. Now we would go but we don't want to leave or board our aging dog. But our future goals - at least as soon as I tell my hubby- 🤪 are to visit Disneyland. Your vlogs are very helpful & encouraging. I often can name the places even though I haven't actually been there yet. Thanks for the hours of enjoyment. ❤️❤️❤️
I've been looking for helpful information because we are taking my son for his 5th birthday and this video was the most informative out of everything I've watched and read! Thank you!!
Grew up going to Disney World every year. Going to Disneyland for the first time next weekend. Luckily going with a friend who grew up going to show me around some. So excited!
Thank you! I love your vlogs. I am finally organising our once in a life trip to the USA, and I must admit organising Disneyland is a bit overwhelming.
Such a beautiful video! My husband & I are key holders but we are taking my MIL & SIL for their first time THIS Sunday! So this is PERFECT TIMING! love you guys & your videos so much!
My biggest tip that made our first time amazing is the last hour or so after the fireworks is the perfect time to get rides done because the lines are non existant in some cases. For example, the whole day the buzz lightyear ride was over an hour long wait and the last hour the park was open it was walk on and we got to ride it 2 times in a row. Same with space mountain and matterhorn. Granted it was a grad nite weekend so lots of people were headed to DCA but still, we got to go on rides we thought we were gonna have to completely skip out on. Also, dont forget that its probably not gonna be your only time in most cases and there is a good chance everything you want to ride will be there. RIP Splash Mountain and Haunted Mansion which were closed for referbishment when I went last weekend.
Wow! Super helpful stuff 👏 Especially about fantasyland and waiting until later to ride those rides until some of the toddlers are in bed 😴 We head there in March and can’t wait!!
You are such a lifeline for those of us out of state, once a year visitors. Thank you for doing what you do! I will rewatch this many times before the next visit.
Great, well thought out video guys! Invest in genie plus and stack your lightening lanes through out your day. Favorite way to enjoy Disney is to hit up the park at rope drop and get a lot of your attractions done in the morning, take a mid afternoon break at your hotel and then come back and enjoy your evening!
This was very nicely done, thx! Reminded me about the 1st timer perspective. My daughter & I are taking my nieces (8 & 14) for their first time soon, two days in DL in June, and I have to keep remembering we have to take it all as slow as possible. (Not something we can relate to at all since we were 6 & 5 for our first visits.) We’re so used to “owning” the parks now, but we need to sit back and breath at every moment with this trip. I want to do everything, show them everything, but I have to remember we mostly need to be well fed & rested, then just go experience the (fairly well-planned) magic. And yes we’re buying Genie+, rly need the ease in the days.
Stop and take photos! We only had three days on our first trip at Christmastime and it went by so fast that there were some moments we forgot to capture. The worst was our last-ditch, feeble attempt to take a selfie in front of the castle on our last night when it was dark and raining. 🤦🏻♀️
Stay hydrated during the summer. Please wear comfortable shoes. Your gonna be walking and walking and standing and then back to more walking, and don’t forget the number 1 rule. Have a magical time!
Thank you so much, I am surprising my friend on a trip to Disneyland it will be her first time and these tips helped me even though it's not my first time, now I know where to get the pins! THANK YOU!!!!
We are coming over in late August and cannot wait, we have a first timer in our group and want to make it magical for her. I have just found your page and will be following closely for all your tips. Have a magical day and thank you for all you do to keep us informed
Definitely mobile order but remember that at popular places the times can push out so don’t wait till the last minute. As soon as we got in the park we mobile ordered our raspberry macron to pick up later in the day…you can pick your time👍🏼 This is very important as you get later in the day and closer to parade/fireworks…mobile order ahead👍🏼
I also love doing flip flops. I bring carabiners to hook the bag of wet shoes or clothes to my back pack or stroller. I loop the carabiner through the laces also to let shoes dry. We were there when a major rainstorm came. Got soaked
Wow! This was so full of information! Disneyland keeping up with the times! So different from the 70's thank you for taking me with you! Can't travel so I love checking in to see the new updates!😇😇
I also want to mention that if you want to see the Spiderman show in Avenger's Campus and you're hopping, a cm said it's only earlier in the day, so make your first park for DCA.
My family’s planning to go in early May. We’ve technically all gone together three times, but I haven’t been to a Disney Park in 17 years since I was three. I’m considering it my second first time going.
Right on! Thx you guys for the thoughtful vid. Getting stoked to take the Fam to DL for the first time and this really helps. I haven't been there since I was my kids age (6,12) and I don't know who is more excited, them or me....!!! Aloha and Mahalo
Yay! So glad y’all did one of these! They’re so fun to watch even for people that have been. The excitement of planning ur first trip to the happiest place on earth :)
Disney only offers paper straws, make sure to pack plastic or reusable straws with you! We also bring a big reusable water bottle, then fill it with a (free!) venti ice water from Starbucks on Main Street
I’m going to Disneyland in September for the very first time and I am super excited!! Thank you for making this kind of videos Katie and Spencer it really helps!!

I'm also going for the first time at the end of September for my bday
Same!! I hope we all have a great experience 🙏🏼
I’m going for the first time in September too!!
How was the first time experience? What day of the week is better?
@@paolam3811 I've been told it doesn't matter what day of the week you go, it's super busy all the time.
Try to be the first in line to have your ticket scanned in the morning if you plan on buying genie +. They usually scan your party’s tickets before the park opens up and your able to buy genie + before entering the park.
What is genie+
What cave? I missed it in the video.😅
Why off site ?
@@Dark2lightt I choose to stay off site because the cost of the onsite Disneyland hotels are extremely pricy.
I live in LA. My girlfriend and I have our DisneyLand passports. You guys are awesome. Cheers
Thank you guys so much! This guide is probably going to save us so much time and help us out alot in our trip to Disney land.
You can also get buttons at the rides and don’t forget to grab some popcorn it’s magical
So excited!
Thanks for this. I've never been and we'll be taking our son soon and I've been watching your videos to see what to expect.
Thank you for doing this. I am not a first timer but it's a great help for us who don't go but once every 10 years or so.
Hi my name is Presley it’s. Me again you guys gave me a thumbs up 👍. Thankyou
Thank you! I love your vlogs. I am finally organising our once in a life trip to the USA, and I must admit organising Disneyland is a bit overwhelming.
Me and my family are going to travel from Saudi Arabia to visit and we are so excited 😍
Such a beautiful video! My husband & I are key holders but we are taking my MIL & SIL for their first time THIS Sunday! So this is PERFECT TIMING! love you guys & your videos so much!
You guys sure do know your DL! Love that it's all about the food too! Great vid!
Been to Disneyland since I was a kid 😂 I probably been to Disneyland like a thousand times. Great video Spencer and Katie
You are such a lifeline for those of us out of state, once a year visitors. Thank you for doing what you do! I will rewatch this many times before the next visit.
Great video! For what it's worth, I never get tired of seeing you all at Disneyland. 🙂
I absolutely love this video. Thank you so so much for the tips. So simple but great reminders of what to bring.
What I like to eat at the park is turkey legs with corn 🤤 and at night some beignets with hot chocolate 👌 it’s a must
Ask for magic shots when you get the genie plus with the photos. Several photographers don’t mention magic shots unless you ask.
Stop and take photos! We only had three days on our first trip at Christmastime and it went by so fast that there were some moments we forgot to capture. The worst was our last-ditch, feeble attempt to take a selfie in front of the castle on our last night when it was dark and raining. 🤦🏻♀️
Amazing advice!! We are heading to Disneyland in April for our first time with kids and elderly, thank u thank u!! 😊
Glad it was helpful!
Stay hydrated during the summer. Please wear comfortable shoes. Your gonna be walking and walking and standing and then back to more walking, and don’t forget the number 1 rule. Have a magical time!
🙏🏼💫
You guys are the best for this video. I’m taking my family for the first time this April and your video is a great guide. Thank you 🎉
Glad it was helpful! Enjoy!!!
As soon as we got in the park we mobile ordered our raspberry macron to pick up later in the day…you can pick your time👍🏼
This is very important as you get later in the day and closer to parade/fireworks…mobile order ahead👍🏼
I also love doing flip flops. I bring carabiners to hook the bag of wet shoes or clothes to my back pack or stroller. I loop the carabiner through the laces also to let shoes dry. We were there when a major rainstorm came. Got soaked
Thank you for this video. I’ll be at Disneyland for my first time, this upcoming Monday 🐭🏰🎡🎢
Thanks for the tips guys! Disneyland is way up there on my bucket list
I've been to Disney multiple times but I still am loving these tips!
Wow! This was so full of information! Disneyland keeping up with the times! So different from the 70's thank you for taking me with you! Can't travel so I love checking in to see the new updates!😇😇
We will be there next week for the first time and we can't wait ❤❤❤ definitely gotta get a Disneyland churro 😁
Thank you for the ideas...I really have enjoyed watching all of your videos! Driving to Anaheim from Texas for my grandson's graduation present!
I was there in 9/2015-hope I can get there next year (2023)
Disney only offers paper straws, make sure to pack plastic or reusable straws with you! We also bring a big reusable water bottle, then fill it with a (free!) venti ice water from Starbucks on Main Street
Do you have any videos that go over the best spot to try and see the parades from? And how long before it starts you would recommend waiting?
Taking my 3y old daughter for the 1st time 🎉🎉
I just watched your video and it’s really good because I’m going to Disneyland for my birthday and it’s going to help a lot
I’m going to Disneyland in September for the very first time and I am super excited!! Thank you for making this kind of videos Katie and Spencer it really helps!!
Have fun!
Thank you for putting this together! I just had a friend ask for Dland tips as first timers. Rather than explain this all, I shared a link to this video because it’s so good! And I told them to subscribe because ya’ll are excellent resources for the lands of magic✨ love you guys!!
Thank you so much, Best Life & Beyond! love your channel and love your advice. Looking forward to "1st time tips DCA" vid!
Ok a big tip when I went to Disney in 2020 for the first time it to get the little pins and put them on your backpack or a little sash you can get!
So excited I will be going for the first time next Friday 🥹
Great Guide! I'm taking my wife and kids to Disneyland and DCA next week for the trip we had to cancel when COVID hit.
It’s a real joy to watch the two of you (: I’ve been to Disneyland many times and still find your videos helpful ! Thank you .
We are early morning people and have our first Disneyland trip scheduled in December.. would you recommend arriving about an hour prior to posted opening?
Entertainment times are in the app, if you switch “Attractions” at the top to “Entertainment” And bring a backup battery for that darn phone.
Great video!! You have an awesome clear video
