How to light a fire with a ferro rod... The quickest and easiest method that works for the individual, I would call the "right way". Same as the bowdrill or any other method. Personally, I prefer a cigarette lighter, but carry a ferro rod in case it runs out / gets lost / or what ever. Why? Because I find the easiest and most efficient. Am I right? probably not. But when cold and / or hungry I see no point in wasting effort by doing things the "proper" way ;) Thanks for another great video Bjorn!

Well at least Bjørn you can nibble on food morsels caught upon your beard of justice at a later time, they do say snack little and often 😁🌲 Wonderful Norwegian white dusted winter wonderland. Takk for the fireside chat.🔥🌲👍
Call me crazy, because I know the conservatives wouldn't allow this is my country (U.S.A.), but seeing how much more advanced Norway is liberally, there could probably be some compromise to ban aircraft from a swath of airspace over the inner more natural part of Norway for a certain amount of days or time each week. So you and others there could enjoy peace. Would be lovely to have that here in the U.S. over certain national parks, but like I said, in my country that would be considered far left environmentalism. And correct me if I'm wrong, but Norway is the forefront country in the world of a movement aiming to separate harmful human activities from the natural world, and I truly admire that (such as tree-cutting, electric cars, gasoline operated boats, etc.). Anyways, love your videos and keep up the good work!
Thanks a lot for your input on this matter, my friend. I think, however, that there is a lot of propaganda coming from the government here in Norway (which is conservative, by the way) concerning the environmentalism. The deforestation has been very bad after their new law of replanting. I suspect that was a trick to get more woodland allowed for the timber industry. We also have a problem with the danger of a nuclear disaster because of the submarines patrolling our coast (those aren't Norwegian, mostly, but still), oil spills from the tankers now and then, causing large numbers of marine life and sea birds to die, and the kiling of our large predators. Now, all this could be even worse in the USA, I don't know, but it's not very great here in Norway. Also, I do think you're right and not crazy, if there was a left leaning government maybe there would have been less allowances for helicopters and such, but that's just a guess.
A lot of so called environmentalist jargon is used as a front to scare people into giving up their individual freedom. Real environmentalist talk is not about taking away people's freedom. Large corporate entities need to be held accountable.
Same here! My Beard and Moustache are sometimes by my Friends called "Suppensieb". It´s german for Soupstrainer... (Does this Word exist in english???) Love your Vid´s, go on!
I’m considering a move to Norway purely because of the freedoms of the woodland and your laws permitting it. Here in England there are very few places you can wild camp and most of those you have to pay for. I know of only one or two places you can legally (and for free) wild camp. All land here is owned. If not by locals, then by councils / the government. And there are strict laws on entering owned land. It’s incredibly depressing feeling basically like I live in a prison where I can’t express my need to go back to nature
Yes I have a full beard. The last time I shaved my children did not recognize me, that was over 50 years ago. I am now 73. And yes a beard keeps your face warmer in the cold, and cooler in summer.
Well Bjorn, thankfully I don't have a mustache or a beard. I do agree it is much warmer amongst the trees in the woodland compared to the open areas. I have noticed that. I love walking out to my little spot in my woods but love even more once I get off the main, more open path.
Hi Fawn Marie! I forgot when I said that about the female viewers! But thanks for leaving your comment here anyway. I know you have your bushcraft basecamp and I am looking forward to how it progresses!
Hi Bjorn! Yeah I have a full beard and mustache as well. It's usually doesn't steal my food but I probably only get about half the water I try to drink.

Beard and moustache here Bjorn but no hair. When you used the ''screen peeling ''effect, for just a split second I panicked and thought the Lavva wall was falling inwards
Yep, beard! Finally snow, thats great! Where are you in Norg? If I may ask afcourse! In the forest its as I think warmer, because the breeze that take of the warmth of your body is less than in the open! i live in the middle of a forest and walking there is always warmer then near a lake! Or in the open! Again thank you for sharing! Med vänlig hälsning!
I cannot yet grow a beard so I shall be left without any snacks for later. The trees act as shelter from the wind and weak insulation. I also think that the warmer colours of green and brown of the trees make a warmer ambience and take the edge off the cold!
-9C in January and you call that cold?!?!? Good Gods man I'm jealous.... Commenting to you from Northern Alberta in Canada Where -40C days, for weeks on end is fairly common. Lovely video though BTW.
I also have a beard and mustache. I agree that alot depends on the situation, if no one got hurt and it started the fire that sounds like success to me...lol
I know you are not there to predict the weather, but, would there normally be any snow in Northern Norway in December? I'm planning on returning to Tromso in December 2020 and I love snow and would be so disappointed if there was no snow as hoping to have a day's skying maybe, amongst other things... I was in Tromso early February this year and there was so much snow it was magical. Really hoping for the same in December?
Finally figured out why there was so many beard and mustache comments. I have both. The only annoyance I have ever had with either is the mustache when scuba diving.
I have a mustache and beard, and yes, I often get things in my mustache while eating. That’s what napkins are for. 😎 Are they called napkins in Norway, or perhaps just paper towels? I also get crumbs in my beard sometimes. Snacks for later, right?

And it's great if we can keep the politics out of this.
@@BjornAndreasBull-Hansen I'm sorry to hear that my friend. Human greed is a direct threat to the preservation of nature for us and our descendants.
its easy to assume something, try do something that's harder.
A lot of so called environmentalist jargon is used as a front to scare people into giving up their individual freedom. Real environmentalist talk is not about taking away people's freedom. Large corporate entities need to be held accountable.
Yep I gotta beard.. Love what your doing bro..x
Mustache and beard, it's why I always carry a hanker chief. Damn hassle eating, and drinking coffee...but it looks so good.
Haha, it goes up in the moustache. Yes, I know how it is.
The messy beard is real 😂 I love your content thank you for what you do
18:00 Jesus, that was scary for a second!
+ 1 on beard and mustache! 😁
Thanks for the mesmerizing video, Bjørn :) Can you make one showing us how to use resin for multiple purposes, please? Big hugs :)
Thanks, and I can. If you watch the video where I make an arrow, you'll see how it can be used as glue.
Bjorn Andreas Bull-Hansen Thank you! Yes, I've seen it :) I think it would be awesome to get to know more applications for it. Congratulations for reaching 30,000 subscribers!
Beard and moustache here Bjorn but no hair. When you used the ''screen peeling ''effect, for just a split second I panicked and thought the Lavva wall was falling inwards
Ah, I must be careful next time with the effects!
I live in Fredrikstad, that is in the southeastern part of Norway.
Värmland, Sverige! Bara 350 km bort... Ser bra ut din plats.@@BjornAndreasBull-Hansen
I cannot yet grow a beard so I shall be left without any snacks for later. The trees act as shelter from the wind and weak insulation. I also think that the warmer colours of green and brown of the trees make a warmer ambience and take the edge off the cold!
That is a very good explanation. Thanks!
@@BjornAndreasBull-Hansen Thanks for replying! We all appreciate it.
And get the Vikings involved
-9C in January and you call that cold?!?!? Good Gods man I'm jealous.... Commenting to you from Northern Alberta in Canada Where -40C days, for weeks on end is fairly common. Lovely video though BTW.
i think my name on youtube says enough. In the forrest there is less wind because of the trees that's why i think it feel warmer
Yes, it kind of gives you away, haha. And you're right about the trees and the wind.
They used to pick spruce gum in the Adirondack Mountains of NY and sell it for chewing.
I also have a beard and mustache. I agree that alot depends on the situation, if no one got hurt and it started the fire that sounds like success to me...lol
I agree! The proof is in the pudding, as they say. Or in this case, in the fire.
sure..i have not moustache...i like this "warm " wood "..Forest..me too feel the same
I almost fell over when the screen peeled away at 18:00.
Haha, try not to follow it the next time. It is just one of my very cool effects.
Full beard and mustache here!
I see you’re also a fan of throat singing 💪🏿
Could you please give a link for your tea/coffee pot that you use for boiling water? Thanks!
Hi Björn! Nice video. Please tell me the size of pot you have. Is it the Eagle 1.5 l ? Look like a good size.
Cool vid!
Thanks a lot, Hangs with Raccoons!
We have a saying here in the US, whatever lights your fire. Do what words best for you
I know you are not there to predict the weather, but, would there normally be any snow in Northern Norway in December?
I have a mustache and Beard. At the moment my mustache tastes like peanut butter.
Haha, that's awesome.
Lol - I can relate to mustache carrying different flavours - it's why I mostly keep mine a bit trimmed
