I love the fall routine. Everything becomes so much less rushed. It still takes me just as long to do chores, but it includes a lot more fun stuff lol.
Thank you for taking us along on your morning chores! We had rain, freezing rain and snow today in Haliburton. I hope you guys are able to get your garlic in before the snow really starts coming down.
We had a bit of freezing rain yesterday afternoon around 3ish, but it warmed up, and the rest of the day and night, it rained. We did manage to get our garlic in.... video on that coming this weekend.
Loved this video! It seems the chickens are kept spread out in different places? Why is that? They are so cute! Also enjoyed seeing the Icelandic sheep very much. I just got done spinning some up 😊
So glad you enjoyed the video. Sometimes it is fun to just share the day to day. We keep 4 "lines" of chickens. By this, I mean that they are 4 groups of unrelated birds. This allows us to be able to breed birds that are all unrelated and "bump" genetics every year so that, in theory, we would never have to but another chicken. Chris did a video on our method a year or so ago called clan mating. It means more infrastructure up front, but gives our homestead resilience. I have been busy spinning as well. This time of year is great for getting caught up on that.
We are so glad you enjoy the content. When we got the ponies, the hopes were to use them for driving (the dark one is trained for that) to use them for bringing apples and wood and things from the back of the property. We have had them for 2 years now, and they are so far just lawn ornaments, but we hope to have time to explore the potential with them eventually.
Love the chicken sounds so much.
That is one thing we are finding with the silkies for sure is they are way more talkative. Probably because they can't see as well.
This fascinated me. I know what my farm routine is every morning, but I loved seeing what someone else does.

Yeee HAAAA ❤❤❤❤
It was nice to go on a little walk with you guys thru your farm. Take care guys!
Thank you so much for watching along 😀
The cats are adorable, following you around😍
We have 6 cats, and they love farm life. They act more like dogs in a way.

What type of sheep do you have?
Registered Icelandic Sheep
I really enjoyed the video. Out of curiosity, do your ponies have jobs on the homestead or are they more hobby animals?
